idly wondering what everyone else is eating. We are spag bol (from the freezer) and salad and then an apple crumble I found - at least I think it's an apple crumble...forgot to label it and have been caught out before

JMill are you in a hot country. Or are you all hardy?

EastEndGranny Mon 19-Oct-15 12:54:16

Monday now, and ball room dancing tonight, so fish - it's fairly light. Salmon with leeks and brocolli and probably some mash.

Nonnie Mon 19-Oct-15 13:52:25

No idea, I just come to the table when DH calls me.

rosequartz Mon 19-Oct-15 13:56:40

carbqueen I took out some leek and potato soup from the freezer for lunch one day, but it turned out to be a box of stewed apple!
The labels fall off.

bangers and mash with onion gravy you could lay bricks with

Lynnekovan1969 Mon 19-Oct-15 14:30:58

A bowl of homemade granola, yoghurt and fruit, my default when I'm too tired to cook.

kittylester Mon 19-Oct-15 14:36:20

As I'm baby sitting all day it will be awaitrope pork joint, frozen creamed cabbages and new potatues roasted with sage and garlic!

gulligranny Mon 19-Oct-15 14:50:29

We're having what we call mish-mash tonight; I've got some left-over bacon, boiled potatoes, a few mushrooms, half an onion so I'll make a frittata with it all and we'll have that with salad. And a nice glass of red wine, which is of course purely medicinal as DH has been told it'll help keep his macular degeneration from degenerating too quickly .....

ninathenana Mon 19-Oct-15 14:54:23

Battered cod and oven chips all from the freezer shock

whitewave Mon 19-Oct-15 14:57:52

Cold meat from yesterday's roast and salad, stewed apple and custard.

Worlass Mon 19-Oct-15 15:03:02

Gulligranny, didn't know that red wine (or indeed any species of wine) was good for helping to combat progress of macular degeneration. Sadly, I suffer from this wretched affliction, but really dislike red wine. Has anyone been advised to eat chocolate to help slow down degeneration? Lol. Going to have liver and onions with tasty, thick gravy, carrots, button sprouts (frozen) and boiled potatoes for tea. No 'afters', but a giant mug of coffee to finish.

Chicken salad. It might have been grilled Ladybower rainbow trout but the b****r got away! smile

Parsleywin Mon 19-Oct-15 15:18:30

Oh, jinglbellsfrocks, have you remembered how the method? I have a large half swede reclining in the bottom of the fridge which I ought to use, or lose!

annsixty Mon 19-Oct-15 15:37:23

Thankyou Gulligranny and Worlass another sufferer here.I am going for my eye injection this evening so will console myself, while waiting for that needle to go in, that at least I have a glass of red to look forward to when I get home.

joannapiano Mon 19-Oct-15 15:56:55

We're going to try the gluten-free chicken burgers that were new in Tesco last week, and then have the only pudding I make successfully, apple crumble.

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Mon 19-Oct-15 16:01:04

Salmon, veg and M&S super wheatberry* (with extra lemon juice)

*microwavable pouch of mixed whole grains - delish

tanith Mon 19-Oct-15 16:03:48

Sausages bubble and squeak and baked tomatoes and just taken out of the oven raspberry and white chocolate muffins. they smell divine but the rest will be frozen for another time.

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 19-Oct-15 16:23:56

Parsleywin it was, just cut off the top and bottom bits of the swede. Put in microwave on full for (I think) 15 minutes. But the time would depend on size of swede I suppose. No pricking or cutting required.

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 19-Oct-15 16:26:32

I have bought a easy-to-cook chicken breast joint and some baby leaf Spring greens to go with my swede. It will be followed by remains of yesterday's apple and raspberry crumble, with single cream.

Charleygirl Mon 19-Oct-15 16:27:47

1/2 a sirloin steak, mushrooms, celery, sweetcorn, green beans and sauteed potatoes.

annsixty Gulligranny and Worlass- I have never heard of wine, red or white or chocolate slowing down the degeneration. Unfortunately kale is more likely to help but does not have the same taste as chocolate!

Parsleywin Mon 19-Oct-15 17:00:52

Thank you jinglbellsfrocks! I would be very happy to escape having to dice the critter ;-) Although I'm remembering now that I did already peel it, which may make a difference to how it'll cook. Off to the kitchen to experiment!

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 19-Oct-15 17:28:12

Just tested mine after 15 minutes. It's actually soft! That's amazing.

Elegran Mon 19-Oct-15 17:32:42

It must be the thick skin keeping all the steam in (but stretching enough to keep it from exploding). All the flavour is kept in too, not washed out into the water it is cooked in.

Don't forget to wrap your hand in a teatowel when you scoop it out.

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 19-Oct-15 17:36:03

I won't forget. grin

Just waiting for the rest of the din to cook now. I put swede on early because I really did not believe it! (Oh Ye of little faith)

grandMattie Mon 19-Oct-15 17:46:54

Left-over roast pork, roast vegetables [onion, pumpkin, mushroom, parsnip, tomatoes, courgette], gravy and apple upside down pudding with custard, also leftover fromyesterday. I shall have mine cold, DH his microwaved!
