Here's the explanation.
A few days ago we received a letter from the Royal Mail. It was not addressed to us, but someone else (we have no idea who), with our address. It was informing the gentleman that they were confirming arrangements to redirect his mail, to begin today!
My DH rang the number provided and explained that we live at this house, we have not sold or let it, and have no desire to receive someone else's post. The lady in the redirection office was extremely puzzled, she even had our land line phone number! She said she would cancel the redirection, but had no way to contact the gentleman who made the request. She also told my DH that they were moving on Saturday today!
Well the postman came with our mail, plus two redirected letters.
Since the address of the gentleman is in Dorset, and we live in Northumberland, I am expecting a removal lorry and some strangers, sometime between now and six o'clock-ish.
This is all very strange! There are three or four houses to let along the road, so DH asked the local letting agent if she recognised the name on the redirection letter. She didn't, and was as mystified as we are.
