Rediscovered pleasures

Sainsbury's peanut cookies. Bought on impulse (the first time) but repeated many times. Come to think of it, I have none in the cupboard. Time to nip down to Sainsbury's.

yes, both of the above are bliss, and Tesco do a nice peanut cookie as well.The dark choc digestives are the best.
all the Fathersons cake range sold by Budgens, and also the more expensive stem ginger cookies by Sainsburys.

Just rediscovered full fat cream cheese. Avoided for years due to fat content but why should I forgo delicious food at my age? PS Unfortunately I still feel guilty eating eat!

After my last cholesterol test I went back to Lurpak. After all that Benecol I needed a reward!

Today I have rediscovered Soreen Malt Loaf with butter. Do you remember the advert....."Don't forgot the Soreen, Doreen."

jane10 when I was trying to get into one of the women's services in the early sixties, they said I needed to put on five pounds before they would accept me, as I was under their weight limit. I did it in large part by bingeing on McVities plain chocolate digestives. Couldn't stand the sight of them for a while after that, but I do love them now! They have to be McVities though, whether chocolate or plain old digestives.

I haven't eaten a custard cream in years. I love those biscuits.

I never buy biscuits, only eat OPBs (other people's biscuits)

Custard creams are lovely. They have been around for ever and were still very popular with the younger staff at when I was still at work. It was well worth me taking in plain chocolate digestives as most people prefered the milk chocolate type.

One thing I haven't had for ages are those lovely individual egg custard tarts. ASDA's own used to be very good. Nice pastry and plenty of nutmeg.

They were slightly soggy bottomed though. Tesco's ones are better IMHO

Soreen is too wet and sticky IMO and gives you instant heartburn.
Sainsburys do good egg custard tarts.

I was in our local Tesco Express with my granddaughter last week and she pointed to the shelf and said 'oo look at those nan'. They were giant custard creams. Just one in each pack but BIG [SMILE]

I cut soreen with my electric carving knife, but, as has been said, you can get it ready-cut.
