Happy Birthday jogginggirl wine cupcake sunshine

Are we to gather from the song above that it's your 64th??

Maggiemaybe Mon 12-Oct-15 08:03:36

Mea culpa, Anya (gulp). blush And the rest. I'm hoping DGS will deign to have a nap today so that I can get out and walk those calories off.

Happy Birthday, JG!

Maggiemaybe Mon 12-Oct-15 08:06:03

How are you doing, Ana and anno? (changing the subject).

Anya Mon 12-Oct-15 08:08:31

Bah!

jogginggirl Mon 12-Oct-15 08:30:25

Yep!! That's me - 64 today!! I'm hopefully going to get my steps in early and then eat too much cake and behave badly for the remainder of the day grin
Thank you Anya and Maggie for birthday wishes smile
Maggie - you didn't even save one measly strawberry cream - we would have shared wouldn't we Anya hmmwink lol
Happy Monday X

Happy Birthday jogginggirl! smile sunshine

Well! On Saturday evening I realised I had lost my pedometer!! shock Somehow it had worked its way out of my bra and disappeared who-knows-where - I've checked the car, the house (even the loos) but it's vanished...

So yesterday I went out and bought another, simpler one, which only counts steps and no faffing about setting your stride distance etc. When I got home around lunchtime I clipped it on to the top of my jeans - I'm not trusting my bra any more - and was amazed to see by the end of the day that I'd done 2,500 just pottering about, taking shopping from car, clean washing upstairs etc. and doing a bit of pruning!

I did check it was accurate by actually counting my steps around the garden, and it tallied with the result on the pedometer, so I am now a bit more optimistic about reaching my goal soon.

Anya Mon 12-Oct-15 11:22:45

I was wondering how accurate a pedometer inside a bra would be Ana - my thinking was, if the bra was good and firm and allowed little 'jiggle' room then you might not be registering your full quota of steps. But if it wasn't very good at the 'stopenzeefloppen' bit and had a high 'jiggle' factor you might get a high false reading confused

JG I'm not sure I understand the concept of 'sharing' strawberry creams wink

Anyway I've make a momentous decision. I have a Big Event to attend on November 28th and I plan to wear my velvet trousers which are a tad tight at the moment. Sooooo......

I am forswearing anything with added sugar that comes in a wrapper until then.

My low carb diet is still going well as regards bread, potatoes, rice and pasta but.....the odd chocolate treat (sadly not strawberry creams Maggie) started to creep in and then it sort of escalated. So here goes hmm

Ana Mon 12-Oct-15 11:26:03

Good luck Anya! I know you'll be able to do it. smile

Re the bra, I'm hoping you're right about the false low reading - I usually wear a sports bra and it is good and tight all right! grin

Anya Mon 12-Oct-15 22:54:18

iPad almost out of charge so just a quickie.

Done steps, abstained from plonk and sugar moon

jogginggirl Mon 12-Oct-15 23:16:18

Thanks all for the birthday wishes, I had a lovely day with precious family members - all good smile

Lona thank you for the strawberry creams, they are yummy, I would like to share them with Anya but she's on this sugar-free lark so she won't mind if I don't wink I might give one to Maggie if she asks nicely hmm

Steps achieved, birthday wine drunk - dry again now - well until I pop over to France for a couple of weeks - it would be rude not to do a bit of wine-tasting...don't you agree???

There's a lot of talk about bras and false readings etc... I would definitely recommend the Fitbit, it doesn't fall down the loo, get lost in your pants and there's no problem with giggle jiggle factor or the 'stopenzeefloppen' bit (I had to copy that Anya) but well done on the abstinence of plonk and sugar, I'd love to join you but there's still cake.....wink
You're no quitter and I have every faith in you smile

Back to normal tomorrow, night night moon

Maggiemaybe Mon 12-Oct-15 23:28:13

Well, I'm on one of my 5-2 fast days today, JG, so am not even thinking about strawberry creams (really, I'm not... envy).

I have had a very quiet DGS-minding day, and even though I made a special effort to go to the local Co-op while he was napping, and to take him to meet his mum from the train, I've only got up to 3803 steps. I realise this is totally unacceptable and will do better tomorrow. I'm meeting some of my old work team for tea and cakes, so will have to!

Night all. moon

Anya Tue 13-Oct-15 19:28:52

Hope everyone's had a good day?

Done my steps and now off out with DH and DS for a drink - allowable under my new rules.

Ana Tue 13-Oct-15 19:38:05

4,319 - must start checking earlier, when there's still time/light enough to have a quick jog around the garden! grin

Getting there though - quietly pleased smile

Well done everyone - enjoy yourself, Anya!

jogginggirl Tue 13-Oct-15 22:48:46

Does the 5:2 work for you Maggie I quite like the idea of it. Let me know when you're on a strawberry cream day and I'll leave one out for you smile
Ana - don't stay quietly pleased - shout it from the rooftops smile

Excellent stepping everyone - even though I haven't been outside the house today, I have still managed my steps - lots of trips up and downstairs grin - and a dry evening for me

Hope you've had a fun evening Anya

Of to practice Big Red Combine Harvester for the Diva's Harvest Festival tomorrow.....

Ana Tue 13-Oct-15 22:51:07

Crikey, you must have a lot of stairs, jogginggirl! grin

Anya Tue 13-Oct-15 23:27:34

Hi! Escaped here from A.N.Other thread - my refuge!

Well done Ana excellent, though I hesitate to point out you could use a torch? But WTH you were within spitting distance of your target. Onward and upward, as they (?) say.

JG I did have a fun evening. Though I also had to steer the conversation away from manly boring subjects such as golf, rugby and football. It's nice to have a good old political ding-dong with those who are prepared to listen and concede points.

glances around nervously to check no-one from other threads are lurking

I know the Big Red Combine Harvester song too well as well JG - ALL the verses hmm I've written my own words to one verse, but DD got a tad annoyed when I taught it to DGS!

I though the same Ana (about the stairs)

jogginggirl Wed 14-Oct-15 08:06:09

Just 'hide' on here for a while Anya - there's only a few of us and we're so busy stepping it out and running up and down stairs - we sometimes avoid miss other threads wink

Just the usual number of stairs - but lots of trips - getting ready for holidays and cleaning the house at the same timegrin

Do share the naughty verse of BRCH - obviously I wouldn't dream of teaching it to the Diva
winkgrin

jogginggirl Wed 14-Oct-15 08:07:18

Would I ...?
hmmgrin

Maggiemaybe Wed 14-Oct-15 08:56:23

Heck, I forgot to sign in last night after my quiz night and the obligatory couple of g & ts. I also had supper at the quiz (chips were involved) and lemon drizzle cake and a Kit Kat whilst putting the world to rights with the girls earlier that day. blush

Good job I did a bit of brisk walking. Virtuously turning down the lift to my friend's, taking back last week's lovely spotty wellies (too small sad) and picking up my M & S end of sale extra 20% off bargains (not tried on yet, but I predict the skinny jeans will be going back next week blush). So my target was achieved and I also made up Monday's shortfall, hurrah!

I love my 5:2, Anya. I've been on it for a couple of years, so it's just a way of life now. I lost a stone in the first few months, but now I'm maintaining, by having the 500 calories 2 days a week and pigging out not counting calories on the others. I started it initially because my blood pressure had sneaked up to 139 while my back was turned. It was back under 120 last time it was checked, so seems to have worked for me. It doesn't suit everyone though.

Anya, stay safe grin. Ana, I have resorted to marching round the coffee table in front of Corrie till I fall down dizzy to make up the last few hundred steps....

jogginggirl Wed 14-Oct-15 20:35:50

Ha ha Maggie - when I first read your post I thought it said you had nearly forgotten to 'sin' last night grin
I like the 5:2 idea - I find eating a bit of a challenge sometimes because I am on a gluten-free diet and also follow a FODMAP plan hmmconfused - I should look into it...

Steps achieved, packing done - early start tomorrow - France here we come..
I will be stepping and checking in over the next couple of weekssmile

Be good all sunshinesunshine

Ana Wed 14-Oct-15 20:46:50

Have a great time jogginggirl! smile

I have a question - do trampoline jumps count as steps?

jogginggirl Wed 14-Oct-15 22:02:56

I would certainly say so Ana - 10 mins of trampolining apparently burns as many calories as 30 mins jogging...so all good exercise smile
My GD's a nutcase on a trampoline - can't bear to watch shock

Anya Wed 14-Oct-15 22:39:09

Had a small unplanned drink tonight because I'm so angry

What kind of low-life scum, steals from a child's grave?
