Cilla Black has died

I was not a fan of cilla but having said that she was easy viewing and was quite a character. I was quite surprised to hear of her death at a quite a young age. I feel sorry for her family.
I am however quite fed up with the extreme coverage on the news programmes.

I liked Cilla's voice - it had character, and she used it very skilfully. It did have a slightly nasal quality - but she was a scouser! I also felt that she was a someone who had principles - her Blind Date programme never descended into smut, unlike many programmes that we have now. She also seems to have sustained a normal marriage and family life, which takes some doing when you are under the spotlight.

I was a fan. I think she was a genuine person. Didn't like her shows much but did like lots of her songs. Hope she is at peace with her beloved Bobby.

I read that she didn't want to live beyond 75 so sadly she didn't even make that. I still can't believe it's happened, she was such a big part of my teenage years and I always loved her and her music. Some of her songs bring back so many memories of 'way back then. It's heartbreaking reading the tributes from so many of her showbiz friends like Cliff, Paul O'Grady, Gloria Hunniford, Christopher Biggins, etc., etc. I'm just so glad I managed to see her in a guest appearance on one of Cliff's tours many moons ago - she was so warm and funny and it was obvious to everyone just how close friends they were. My thoughts are with all her family and friends and like to think she is reunited with her beloved Bobby. May she rest in peace.

I can understand her saying she didn't want to live beyond 75, she said so that she wouldn't be a burden on her sons. It seems like she had one hell of a life, from the early days in the Cavern, to going on holiday with Paul and Biggins. A wonderfully long and happy marriage, great kids, shame about her losing her daughter, but lots of love and support from Bobby in being her manager and then Robert taking over when Bobby died. She had a full and loved life, what more could anyone want?

I too have lived all my life with her being around, singing, Blind Date, popping up on other shows, Morecambe and Wise, Loose Women, her show done by Paul recently (being shown again tomorrow). She finished this show with my favourite song of hers "Liverpool Lullaby" which takes me back to being a child, when I had my heart operation in Royal Liverpool Childrens Hospital. I have albums of hers, enjoyed her and admired her strength of character.

Be safe again in Bobby's arms, Cilla. Much love.

Just watching the tribute programme on BBC4 - what a voice, and what a performer! Her voice is fascinating - she has two voices: one is very sweet and pure, the other a real belter. It is intriguing to hear her move effortlessly from one to the other. I wonder whether she could have sung the higher notes in her "sweet" voice. Spot on in tune.

I've just watched the BBC4 programme on catch-up - really enjoyed it. I liked her duet with Phil Everly best "Let It Be Me".

I watched online some of the funeral and then went to the donations page set up in Cilla's name. It was for Great Ormond Street Hospital and I donated. While this is good that it is a children's charity that is benefiting, would it not have been more appropriate for donations to have gone to Alder Hey Hospital which is actually in Liverpool and not in London as GOSH is?

I then went on to Alder Hey website and donated to them also as I had heart surgery in The Royal Liverpool Children's Hospital as a child, twice.

During the funeral broadcast, it was said that Cilla`s family said that any donations would be divided between Gt. Ormond Street and Alder Hey.

Oh well, they've both got some now.
