That's wonderful Nonnie. We have been this morning to watch our DGD in a dance festival. She did wonderfully well (tap dancing). Lovely to watch all the girls (and boys) dancing

Nonnie, you are so privileged to have a ballet dancer in the family. And one you say is such a lovely person too. I hope she goes far. My DGD, 3, has just started ballet and loves it.

Thanks Bella. I hope your DGD and all others have good teachers as so much harm can be done by bad ones. I'm a fan of Royal Academy of Dance ones. Children have so much fun dancing, whatever kind they do and I think it helps them with self confidence too.

If they strive to become professional dancers it is very hard but very character building. Whether they succeed or not they will become stronger as a result of trying. Actually Bella we have two, DS3 is a soloist with the same company.

How wonderful, Nonnie. So much family talent. My little one seems to have a good teacher but they are still little, 2-4, so it's about fun too.
I have always loved ballet and going to one is a very special treat.

Just returned from seeing my sons ships company marching through Morpeth at the weekend. So many people turned out to welcome them and it was so lovely to see the youngsters brought along waving their flags. Now I do realise that to them it's probably just an afternoon off lessons, so they would be enthusiastic anyway, but nevertheless they all cheered and had lovely smiling faces. It was very much appreciated by all the servicemen and women and Morpeth did them proud. Having sons serving in the Military I do have a lot of anxious times when they go to various coutries, it was nice to have a break from it and just lovely to see people paying tribute to them, oh and the weather was great to....

Oh, glad the weather is good up there BiNtHeRe. We were a bit North of Morpeth and it was damp and dull. Think we picked the wrong week. Great it didn't rain on your son's parade.

DBH felt able to do a little light mowing this morning - and is now cackling away to the recording of the last Top Gear, so I think I can safely say that he is feeling a lot better. DS barrowed two tons of topsoil for me, I don't know what I would have done without him, but my back feels better today so I am very happy about that.

Just about to phone DD and give her her daily peptalk, re her wait for biopsy results - three weeks is starting to feel like months away, but a friend says she is a lucky girl, my friend had to wait for five weeks.

I am sitting in a lovely cottage in South Wales. Arrived an hour ago and am staying until Friday. There's a lovely old garden and and a swallow nesting over the door.

I had a lovely big bonfire. They always make me happy, I miss them if I live somewhere where I can't have one.

I have relatives that like nothing much more than a big bonfire. They dont live where they annoy people with them.
One of my relatives, tends to scoop up anything in sight, so people are wary around him!

Beach yesterday. Shopping today. A christian festival tomorrow. Hoping to drag my husband out somewhere on thursday.
I am not really very eventful when it comes to days off. If I am going with other people, I tend to let them do the choosing, as they have better ideas than me.

Been having a chain saw massacre in the garden (well hedge trimmer really) then sat and enjoyed the sun. Now about to eat a sort of lunch/dinner in the garden before getting ready to head off to Brum to see Oklahoma. No, I've never seen it!

Me neither! One of my choirs is singing a medley from it in a weeks' time - along with loads of other rather cheesy melodies and they were appalled that I didn't know it, nor Shenandoah.

JaneRowena out of interest, is your "Oklahoma" the Broadway Choral series edition? We are doing this next Saturday amongst others. When our "men" started doing the "Oh what a Beautiful morning" they sounded so darn miserable all the women fell apart laughing at them. They sound a bit better now.

I had barely heard of any of them apart from Summertime, West Side Story and Down by the Riverside. I'm more of a Hair, Evita, Godspell, Barnum, Chorus Line, Cats generation!

I can't sing or play a note, but one of my close friends sings and plays an acoustic guitar, usually folksy stuff, and also leads a gospel choir.

Another friend sings classics from musicals and has also recorded an album of Christian worship songs. (She truly sings beautifully.)

My mother in law accompanies ^^ that friend and many others, and also is musical director of both choral society and many amateur dramatic groups.

The Wonderful Man sings modern Christian music, some songs from musicals and a bit of other stuff and plays several instruments. (At my 50th birthday party he sang, 'Have I told you lately that I love you' to me and it made even my emotionless mother shed a tear.)

I'm spoilt for choice throughout the year when it comes to deciding which concerts/productions I'll attend.
