For all things happy!

There seems to be so many non happy things happening lately.

So this is a happy thread.

I bought a gift for someone today, which I think he will like.

Anyone else?

Carry on all. I will butt out right now.

Either you see it or you don't. I don't want to spoil anyone's party.

loopylou Sat 27-Jun-15 17:10:03

Well jingl I'm not I'm alright Jack
I'm not being self-satisfied or crass either.

Two relatives of BF are missing and haven't been heard from.
For me this thread brings a welcome diversion from helping her make phone calls etc.

soontobe Sat 27-Jun-15 17:21:27

I was wondering if anyone on gransnet was personally affected.
Glad the thread is helping with diversion loopylou.
I hope you receive good news.

Singing to our French friends at the Battle of Waterloo enactment last weekend in Belgium"Waterloo, how does it feel to have won the war" whilst waving my St Andrew's flag. Seriously though they still seemed convinced Napoleon did. Excellent weekend though!

I cut my fringe, and it does actually look quite good.
<I am scraping the barrel of good news! But all in a good cause of loopylou and anyone else who needs diversion from lifes' troubles>

Well - me too. DD is in hospital today having yet another exploratory op to see what is wrong with her innards, DBH is off work with depression, we are all low because our best friend died a couple of weeks ago and we miss him, my bank account is heavily overdrawn because I wasn't expecting the expense of a funeral - travelling, accommodation, flowers etc. - and DS has just admitted to having been depressed and staying in bed for two months after xmas. So I feel really bad for not having picked that up. A little pause to make me think (after having just watched the awful news yet again) about any positive thing in my day is very welcome.

I am very happy that I managed to find a supplier of topsoil for my new raised beds, at only £35 per huge bag, delivered. I was starting to think some of them would be staying empty for quite a few years yet. I was surprised by how much such a small thing raised my spirits.

I've often considered raised beds but I have a sloping garden. I hope you enjoy yours janerowena.

We had a happy time at GDs school summer fair. Her first. It brought back such lovely memories of her fathers child hood.

AND the sun's shining! sunshine x

How worrying Loopylou. Your friend must be distraught. So little detail still coming out of Tunisia. Hope you get some news soon. It is the not knowing that is the worst! sad

Judthepud2 Sat 27-Jun-15 20:08:40

Exactly Janerowena! You have illustrated my point made earlier very well. Little joys to help us cope with the big sorrows. Not crass or uncaring. Hope the tide begins to turn for you soon. flowers

Today has been a very happy day! My cousin, who is over from Ireland to source some parts for his classic sports car, came with his wife to visit us. I haven't seen them for a lot of years and it was such a joy to catch up, especially now he is a grandad to a beautiful eight month old boy (classic car no longer the love of his life!).

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 27-Jun-15 22:35:37

loopy I hope your friend has good news soon.

Sewsilver good that things are coming together for you. smile

I spent a very happy day yesterday with my family, stress levels have dropped and (dare I say it?) things seem to be going fairly well for all of them.

I was so pleased last evening when GD texted to ask if I would like to go out and do a bit of shopping with her and maybe have a coffee out.I now know how good she feels about her new face. Such a good feeling.

janerowena Sun 28-Jun-15 10:40:58

Struggling a bit today, as DD has two tumours in her colon (She kindly sent me the photos! How lovely! hmm and probably Crohn's disease, although a further wait on that one for a positive diagnosis, and to see if the tumours are benign.

So far my happiness has been found in having cake for breakfast. Whatever works, I say! Is it too early for a glass of wine?

annsixty Sun 28-Jun-15 10:41:02

We are going to look for Vichy Bioderm which the hospital has said covers up scars.

janerowena Sun 28-Jun-15 11:04:26

That sounds very useful, annsixty.

janerowena Sun 28-Jun-15 11:09:12

I found this article, it compares the two makes, Vichy and Bioderma.

annsixty Sun 28-Jun-15 11:17:56

Thank you for that link * janer* we will get advice from the "consultants". The nurse at outpatients did say she should be able to get it on prescription once we establish shade etc. I am sorry about your DD, hope the news is good.

annsixty Sun 28-Jun-15 11:18:57

Nonnie Sun 28-Jun-15 11:38:16

My lovely DiL has just been promoted to First Soloist in Birmingham Royal Ballet! Champagne in the fridge ready to take over later and celebrate with her and DS3.

Not only is she one of the most talented dancers I have ever seen but is also one of the sweetest natured people I have ever met. She is beautiful, intelligent and utterly delightful.

harrigran Sun 28-Jun-15 11:46:26

Wow, congratulations to Nonnie's DIL flowers flowers flowers

harrigran Sun 28-Jun-15 11:53:17

janer flowers for you too, must be a worrying time.

janerowena Sun 28-Jun-15 11:55:10

Thank you. smile

Nonnie ! How wonderful.

Nonnie Sun 28-Jun-15 12:41:20

Thanks Harri & jane

I wouldn't normally boast but, in anticipation of the promotion, I asked the other Gns at our meet up this week if they thought it appropriate (they did) and then this thread started and I thought it would be OK. She couldn't deserve it more.
