I hope the future for you all is one of love and kindness for each other.

My two youngest GSs are forever going off to Beaver/Cub camps. They come back filthy, tired and very pleased with themselves. They have wonderful, dedicated leaders.

Thank you everyone for your kind replies to the news about my estranged son. I've agonised a lot on Gransnet about the situation and it's great to have some good news to share.

gillybob I remember going camping when I was a Brownie, it was great fun and very very wet!

Oh you should see the "forms" Greenfinch talk about covering every eventuality. My DDiL has had to write a permission slip out for just about everything from applying sunscreen (chance would be a fine thing) to giving calpol and everything else in between.

We are of course, very grateful that her Brown Owl, Tawny Owl, Snowy etc. are willing to give up a week of their own holidays to take 30 little girls on this wonderful adventure as not many people would these days.

I feel I can join in this thread now as I feel so much better after 7 weeks trauma with a broken shoulder joint,I am back to my lap-top and went out in my car for the first time yesterday (freedom again) no pain for a few days so all is looking good after such a miserable few weeks.

What a lovely healthy lunch . My 8 year old DGD is desperate to go on Brownie camp but they don't seem to do them round here.Health and Safety ,I suppose ? My DD used to love them and was hoping for the same for her daughter

My DGD2 is off to her first Brownie Camp today. She is 7. I have everything ready and packed for her including a brand new back pack that I bought yesterday as a surprise. Can't wait to see her little face when she heads off all excited. They were all asked to bring a packed lunch with them today and Gracie gave me strict instructions as to the contents;

2 ham, tomato and cucumber sandwiches.
1 apple
1 packet of prawn crackers
2 hard boiled eggs
Carrot sticks
1 yogurt
A twix bar
Black currant fruit shoot

She is as fit as a flea and as skinny as a pin, crikey knows where she puts all this food.

Feel happy today because my youngest son who was estranged when his dad passed away, came to visit with his wife and little girl.

I have two other grandchildren and we have a lovely relationship, but it was so good to see the other gd and give her a cuddle.

Never thought this day would come.

My son sent me an email last evening saying he had enjoyed the visit and telling me a bit about his work and health etc.,

Things are definitely improving and we are working towards a new normal after the sudden death of my DH. three long years ago.

Just back from a very short but lovely visit to our "village" carnival day . The sun is shining the crowds are out and giving willingly to good causes . The children were so happy and it did me so much good to go.

I'll let you know about that after a week looking after a 5 year old GS.

DH has announced we're off to Wales for the weekend to visit the Botanical Gardens near Carmarthen and hopefully fit in a nice walk somewhere and a paddle in the sea!

I'm gobsmacked to put it mildly , first time in 38 years he's ever done this!

Maybe I should spend a week away without him more often!!

Heading off to Sons for our GD's 3rd birthday today (where do the years go), sun is up and looking forward to a lovely day. If we can get our a----s in gear we should get there by lunch time.
We are staying with our daughter for a week to look after GS for the first week of school holiday (seems early to break up).

My dad and I had a great day yesterday. Thankfully the doctor signed him off of being of sound mind for his LPA. So that makes both our lives so much easier. Happy Dad.

My DS today got his compensation through from an accident when he was 11 years old. It's been held by the Court Funds since then until he turned 18 which he did six weeks ago. He has already bought himself a new phone. Happy Son.

Me? I've had a very stressful week and have suffered bad headaches all week so a lovely stress free weekend is all I wish for, some rest, good food and Andy to win on Sunday. Then I'll be Happy Ruby.

Just hung a C****** quilt on the line. I've still got to back it ando some quilts lines on it. Feeling smug that I've got the December fair stuff in hand. Also sewn on new buttons on to the jacket I bought. Horrid brown buttons gone,delicate mother of pearl glinting at me.

I love good news stories. GD3 just got her 2:1 degree from Bournemouth Uni.

I think it is good to count your blessings, but thinking of those who have few to count.

And its a lovely sunny day with a nice breeze drying the washing on the line. There is always something nice about that and the lovely clean 'line-dried' smell when it is brought in. Little pleasures lift the heart.
