My DD and her husband have been trying for a baby for 14 months, married for a year.

They are quite young but very in love and desperate to start a family. They were (especially DD) getting miserable that it had not happened yet.

I had a phone call today telling me she is 8 weeks pregnant. So, still early days, so they want me to keep it secret. I am bursting to tell people but can't.

You lot clearly do not count.

Oh my poor baby girl, she is so sick! Poor child! (ok she's 20, a grown up but still my baby).

She has just rung me sobbing, barely coherent because she cannot stop being sick. I told her to ring 111, then ring me back. She is bringing up bile, so I suspect they will want her in hospital.

We spent a lovely day together yesterday. We shared a portion of cheesy chips and still left half, then she really fancied a hot chocolate fudge cake, so we went to Weatherspoons and had a portion of that between us.

Then she brought it all back up. I know they are not ideal foods, but they were what she fancied. Today she has had toast at about 10 am.

They think she is around 8 weeks now.

She has my sympathy, I was very sick with my first pregnancy, not just morning but after every meal.
It may be a bug though as you were eating out.

No, not a bug, we shared the food. She has been like it for a while now but today is the worst.

Dd1 was 20 when she made me a gran and last night I attended that baby's 18th birthday!
She went on to have 3 more and tomorrow, the 3 ( 15, 6 and 4 ) are flying off with me to Disneyland Paris. I'll let you know next week if it was wonderful or totally exhausting.
Being a grandmother can be hard work but it certainly has its rewards!!
Hold her hand, remind her what she's about to achieve and just be her kind mum.
Best wishes to all of you.

We have had a bit of a rocky time but she needs her mum, so it has brought us closer.

My DD was the same when expecting my DGD. She had trouble even keeping fluids down, as did Kate Duchess of Cambridge. My DD's GP was contemplating having her admitted to hospital. Fortunately it passed, bit it was horrible for her at the time, she was exhausted. Baby was born happy and healthy, subsequent pregnancies were not so bad, but they were all boys. I wonder if that has anything to do with it! grin

FINALLY! have been able to announce it on FB and to everyone else and climb on to my roof and announce it!

12 weeks scan was today and all is well!

Sickness is still pretty bad but she has just enough good moments to get a bit of food and enough fluids down!

DD2 suffered in the same way and was given some anti sickness drugs. She has a healthy boy now.

She is in royal company with this dreadful sickness - I do hope it settles soon and you can all get on with looking forward to the new arrival.

She is now 15 weeks and still sick I asked her how baby was behaving and she said 'Being good, I was only sick once yesterday'.

If she follows me with my pregnancy with her, she will be sick for another couple of weeks, have a week off, then the heartburn will start.

On the plus side, she is feeling little flutters.

Hello MammaTJ. Just picked this post up. The first grandchild is so exciting but nerve wracking, especially when it is your DD. Hopefully the sickness will ease off soon and your DD begins to enjoy her pregnancy.

Have you seen the 'Babycentre' website? It is full of great info on pregnancy and early child development. You can watch the baby's development along with your DD.

By the way, I have 6 and every one is exciting and special.

Good luck and keep us all posted.
