Last night's bride asked DD to make a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting for her consultation, as well as all the others (taking the mickey IMHO), but I've managed to sneak some for the kitchen, so tuck in.

annsixty how did your DGD's surgery go? Have been thinking of her and sending prayers and hopes that she coped with it all, bless her. I do hope it's all over now and that she can recover quickly and be happy with the result.

Thank you all so much for your good wishes. She is back on the ward,she was in theatre for 2 and a half hours and the Surgeon said he was pleased with the way it went. She has had the same Surgeon since her first op when she was 13 weeks old. Thank goodness for the NHS. I have seen her briefly on Skype she is padded up and has a black eye but she looked beautiful to me, but she always has .

So glad everything seems to have gone well annsixty. She will be even more beautiful now.

We have been to say a fond farewell to our dear friend. The family, pals and villagers did her proud. Mull of Kintyre was played. That is when I wept. I shall pop in tomorrow and hope to catch up with you lovely lot. Off for a

Crap day today, was due to see Doc about my 8:50 appointment only to fine that it was at 8:30 . Now I can't get an appointment with him as he is on holiday and then I'm away. Only two of our Drs specialise in skin conditions, have an appointment with one of them (not the one I preferred) in 2 weeks. This is the first time I have ever missed an appointment, got a right roasting from Mrs P. Just to make it more annoying, I couldn't sleep and was up, showered and dressed by 4am.
AND the forecast for our garden open day is heavy rain, DOH.

I've brought you all in some lovely watermelon and ripe cherries. I'm probably eating too much fruit at the moment but a least the virtual sort have no carbs or calories.

My surgery texts a reminder pompa (though that didn't stop DH going two hours late!)

dustyangel- I will be moving in I think for the remainder of the cherry season- yummy. I find that they are so expensive to buy. Cherries are better for you than a slice of cake or a bar of chocolate.

pompa I am the opposite, I arrive too early and quite often I am rewarded by an early call because somebody has not bothered to turn up and has not cancelled.

Lidl have loose cherries from Kent for £3.99 a kilo. I have a bowl beside me as I type.

LL it was the texts that confused me, I had an appointment at 8:50 on a different day, looked at the time and did not notice the date. Senior moment.

Shame about the rain for your Open Gardens pompa. It's our village's too this weekend but it is currently doing that fine drizzly stuff that makes you really wet, so I doubt there will be many people out and about.

We haven't ever opened our garden but are thinking we may do next year. Our garden is small and nothing special, as it is basically on a poorly broken up school yard, but so many people mention that they had been to school here that we thought we might open and even show them round the house, for an extra donation to the nominated charity. Not that the house is anything special either but the conversion was very cleverly done.

I wonder if your frog's spit is what we have always known as cuckoo spit loopylou it is some sort of insect egg in a bubbly medium which destroys shrubs and plants.

That's it Annsixty, my mother calls it Devils Spit, so it seems to have a variety of names , a tiny green bug.

Yes, I also call it 'cuckoo spit'...has a wee green bug in it. I'm pleased that birds find it wholesome. I've been marvelling at a "baby" thrush. It is far bigger than its parent. Adorable!

loopylou I have one double (measure) of gin with half a tin of tonic. Then, some time later, I have a singe (measure) of gin with the remaining half tin of tonic. That is my treat and, being just sufficient...I would not want any more. Slainte!

The tennis was rained off. I was disappointed. However, very shortly, the match will begin. Should Andy win...he's going to have to play the semi final and final within a few short hours. That will take some stamina. Coffee about to be made. A special Magnum choc ice cream to celebrate/commiserate with once the tennis tournament finishes.
