An exciting afternoon, soop. I'm going nowhere far away from the TV till this final has finished!

I keep missing the tennis, usually for mundane reasons! Today however, I'm being taken out for a belated birthday treat, afternoon tea at a very nice 'boutique' hotel in Manchester.
It would be churlish not to eat as much cake as possible

when I really am looking forward to the final. Andy seems to have found a new gear. Mind you, his opponent will be no slouch. 6' 10" with a reach and stride to match!

Lona Enjoy your treat. Cake is most certainly not to be ignored. I like the idea of 'boutique hotels'...I bet that the napkins are starched and the posy on the table is fresh flowers and the cakes are displayed on a china cake stand. Sounds like a treat that I would enjoy. Tell us lot all about it, please.

I think Andy is better than he was when he won Wimbledon. I'd love to see him maintain this form and be up there with the greats like Federer and Borg.

I agree. He has matured and although he berates himself when he performs a disappointing shot, he is less likely to lose focus. I think that his approach is much more positive. Some of his ground strokes leave me breathless. We shall keep rooting for him, when, this time in the tennis calendar is such fun. I confess that there are times when I feel a tad guilty for putting housework aside. Thankfully, MacSporran is happy to see me enjoying the matches (of which there are many)

I bet our Lona has had a feast of a treat. Good for her.

How was the open garden day, pompa? A lady in the village has a beautiful garden and, when her husband was alive, it attracted people from some distance. They would raise money for the village hall.

Time for me to log off. Rory is being vocal. His daughter 'Tortoiseshell' cat, is also sitting beside the outside wee chalet. The moment our eyes meet she knows that her food is about to be brought to her. She hides behind the hydrangea shrub. The moment I close the door, out she sprints and tucks in...leaving not a scrap.

Am I first here? I was hoping someone could make me a . I have just taken DGD£ to playgroup in her pushchair and walked home giving the empty pushchair a running commentary on the buses passing by, the colour of the cars, being careful crossing the road.

Washing ready to hang out but the rain beat me to it. I am slowly getting rid of piles of paper but it will take some time. I am in a clearing/cleaning mood- long may it stay with me.

Small shop at Sainsburys then checking out the sales for a new bra. I lead a full and exciting life!

Lona my life may top yours for excitement- I am having my expensive loo seat fitted, hopefully today. I have two loos and when I tarted up the bathroom and downstairs loo a few years ago I had raised loos fitted and soft close seats came with them. I did not realise that it would cost nearly £70 to replace a loo seat with lid!

Good morning dear kitcheners. At last, the sun is putting in an appearance. We went walkabout and, yet again, I had left my wee camera at home. I was cross with myself because the most marvellous Highland cow/bull (couldn't check) was waiting in the perfect spot to be photographed. Drat!

kitty I can remember doing something like whenever we visited the wee man. Nanas have an extra gear into which they slip when minding grandchildren. Magic!

Charleygirl I would very much like to get into the clearing the wardrobe mode. I hate the thought of it...and I love the satisfaction of a job well done when I finally succumb.

MacSorran has an appointment with the haematologist in Oban tomorrow. On Thursday he has an appointment with a skin specialist. My ironing/cleaning silver job (for my pal) will take up part of Wednesday.

kitty, love to know someone else is ditsy! I stood in a long Waitrose supermarket queue gently rocking from side to side and humming....until I realised I wasn't carrying DGS in the sling but hugging my handbag goodness knows what half the population of Richmond thought!
I hope I brightened up their day but somehow doubt it!

I hope MacS's appointment goes well tomorrow soop, and the one on Thursday too, fingers and everything else crossed.

Charleygirl £70 for a loo seat?! I bought a rather posher one last year, fitted it and four days later DH stood on it to change the lightbulb and it shattered! After I nearly killed him I replaced it with a somewhat cheaper version .....

Open garden went well today. luckily the rain held off until after everyone left. Never again !

loopylou I have not recovered from paying that price and as previously said, I have 2 loos with the same type of seat. This is the soft close variety and next time if I can get something cheaper, I will.

soop I do hope that all goes well tomorrow for MacSporran- I will be thinking of him.

number how is your husband keeping? I trust that he's much improved.

All went well for today's appointment. The weather has been perfect. The scenery is truly beautiful and we managed a lunchtime treat. The haematologist is to arrange for MacSporran to have some different tests and also another scan. His leukaemia is slow to progress. Not until his blood count dictates will he have chemo. He has lost a little more weight, which is of some concern. He's also tires easily...that's to be expected. Anyway, he continues to bright in spirit. We both feel so fortunate for the quality of our lives. Tonight, we'll raise a wee dram to toast you lot...does that sound like a good idea? Yay!
