Charleygirl My pal came in to deal with the stain. She has an expensive industrial type sofa/carpet cleaner. She did her best but the stain would not budge and it was the first thing that caught my eye as I entered the room.

Lona Rory is so fickle. He hasn't put a paw on the sofa since I introduced the throw.

dustyangel Rory has one expression for all emotions. He was in fact waiting for me to open the kitchen door for him. Outside beckoned for all of four minutes. In he trotted and took to his feather cushion in the bedroom. The Cat Protection League have been notified. He contacts them regularly.

Hi all, lots seems to have happened in the kitchen of late, none of it too good though .

Been so busy since we got back from holiday, trying to get the garden sorted before our open day next Monday. By the time I have been sitting down in the evening, I'm so knackered that I fall asleep. Been taking anti histamine for a scalp problem which makes me tired anyway. Nurse thinks it's related to sun damage from way back, seeing Doc next week.

Hi pompa good to hear from you, albeit with an itchy head - sounds like similar problem DH had from years of farming sans chapeau or suntan cream (he'd have snorted very dismissively had anyone suggested such a thing). It resolved itself with the help of a cream.

Oh dear soop, yet another poorly pal, I do hope the sad tidings will cease very soon for you and all kitcheners ((hugs)) to all.

I love the new throw, very smart, perhaps a Rory-free zone now? Neighbours cat is defying me to turf him out of the greenhouse. That's highly likely to happen more forcefully and very soon if the b.....r dear thing keeps sitting on my melon plants
He just opened one eye and ignored me when I politely told him to--shove off-- go elsewhere- so I picked him up and put him on the bench outside and he immediately shot back in and made himself comfortable again

He's either incredibly brazen or very dim........

soop the main problem in your house is that you hire insufficient staff to look after Rory. Like Tara he expects- no demands, that somebody be available to open a door at any time.

Tara was out for ages and I was beginning to get worried. Silly me, why climb over a fence and come in a cat flap when the staff will open the French doors from the garden and allow madam to enter. She was lucky that I closed the curtains or she may well still be sitting there.

She has taken to sharing my bed because I had the audacity to wash her bedding- duvet cover, pillow case and quilt. All of course is clean and Tara does not like clean bedding- unlike her mother. She has not slept in that bed since. She will this weekend when I change my bedding.

Yay!!! I cannot tell you how uplifting it is to wander into our kitchen to find you lot here.

pompa dear, sun damage is a right blighter. MacSporran is to see a skin specialist soon. He also has a date with the haematologist on Tuesday next. He's fair skinned. Did have red hair and, like you, has NEVER used protective sun lotion. Mind you, in days gone by, the sun was thought to be perfectly safe and folk used to use oil to get a deeper tan. Not sun oil...cooking oil.
As for your garden. Any chance of a few pics for us to drool over?

loopylou Could the greenhouse intruder be lonely? Are the neighbours at home? I'm beginning to feel slightly sad for him. You are lucky to be growing melons. I can imagine that a freshly picked melon is delicious...and, calorie-free.

Charleygirl Rory sat on MacS's lap throughout the evening. When he eventually moved, he tip-toed across the throw. At the moment, he's on his chaise. How much sleep do cats really need?

MiL has been released back into the community from hospital - they can't find anything wrong with her! I really think it was an TIA, but maybe it wasn't big enough to register? Who knows. Anyway, she is just pleased to have something exciting to talk about on facebook! I am just relieved that we won't have to go haring up the A1 in exam marking and report-writing and play and concert season - DBH would be having a heart attack instead!

As there are such a lovely bunch of people in this kitchen may I ask for a favour. My 16 year old GD is going into hospital tomorrow (at 7:30, she is not impressed) for what we hope is her 5th and final operation to repair her severe cleft lip and palate. It is mainly her nose which is receiving the attention this time round. She has had such a hard time,so please send your strongest vibes and prayers for those who pray that things go well for her.

Sending prayers and the best of wishes to your DGD, annsixty . Hope the surgery will be a success. Coincidentally, my god-daughter is coming to visit next week from Chester and she was born with the same affliction. She is now thirty-five and it is hard to tell there was ever anything amiss.

ann Good luck to your GD - I have worked - in the past- with a lot of children with that condition and what the Drs can do is simply marvelous - so fingers crossed.

soop, fear not! My neighbour's cat is a highly-indulged and pampered feline. Apparently he's blotted his copybook by crapping poo'ing on the bed then dissecting a rat on the stairs.....so he's using my melons as a substitute sun bed. He's definitely not short of unsuspecting and softhearted fans other serfs to answer to his whims!
I'm just hoping the plants don't mind a hefty, hairy whotsit lounging on them..... I haven't grown any for some time so hopefully will produce edible results.

Pompa, I`m impressed. I do like a nice garden, as long as it`s not mine, we don`t have one, fortunately. Gardens are for looking at, and enjoying, not for working in!

Thank you for all your good wishes and kind thoughts for my GD.I have just had a chat on the phone with her and she is very anxious as is to be expected.The last 2 ops she has had I have stayed overnight with her but she is treated as an adult now. I have been able to keep a close eye and have to realise that she will be ok without me.Soppy gran.

Not soppy in the slightest annsixty, heaven knows I'd be the same.
She's very lucky to have you to confide in; very natural to be anxious and although an 'adult ' there's still a need for a comforting gran.

Annsixty I will say a prayer for your DGD for tomorrow. She is so lucky to have such a caring Gran.

soop Tara needs 25 hours a day but I really do not know why because she does nothing.
