I chuckled at the Newzoids version of the birth the other night with Chummy from Call The Midwife doing the usual slapstick stuff with a mini Red Carpet and the Queen at the door with a pair of scissors ready to declare........

I bet those people who have been waiting for over a week are relieved.

I hope she has a short labour, why oh why are royal experts ! interviewed every few minutes , and SKY news is torture , Kay Burley racing around clutching her mike and asking the most stupid questions of anyone she can grab

I don't know why but I'm excited! I suppose they are a sort of "Every family" (but richer!). I just like them and wish them well. Sorry republicans but I just do!
Also its a nice change of news from politicians sniping at each other and promising the earth to whoever votes for them.

I agree, Jane10 that it will be a nice bit of light relief from the endless election STUFF.

Certainly better than politicians. I hope all goes well for the family and the child is healthy just as I'd wish for any other family. Don't think I'll check the news out as it is just filling in time

Hurrah!!

How many other babies are going to arrive today! Are they any more special to their families than any others? No!

Well it sounds as if Kate had the same experience as my daughter did on Monday.
My DGS2 arrived very quickly once in hospital. One minute SIL had rung to say it could be late evening or the early hours.
Just half an hour later as I was getting DGS to bed I was phoned by the other Grandma to say DGS2 had arrived in the hospital birthing pool.

It happens what's new.
Congratulations to all new babies and new grannies. Who is next?

Let us hope it encourages my DD!! How Kate managed to produce an 8 lb 3 oz baby when she hardly looked pregnant I do not know - heaven knows how big my DD's will be - she is like the side of a house!

Oh I know it's not new, but I do rejoice at every healthy wanted baby's arrival. With all the technology of modern medicine it is still a wondrous thing to welcome a new little person into the world

(I wonder if Carole Middleton had the same sleepless night that some GN grannies must have had earlier this week?)

It's years since I was a midwife but I still see it as a miracle and a wonderfully uplifting occasion.

The news has moved on to the election, I'd forgotten all about that

Every new arrival is something to be celebrated and wondered at. I'm happy for this young couple and all the others whose babies have been born this week

Great news, a new princess.

It is lovely news. I won't put a downer on it just because childbirth is an everyday occurrence. Remember that book by Lennart Nilsson back in the 70's? "Everyday Miracle: Child is Born". That title just about sums it up for me.
Let's allow ourselves to share in this joy, amidst all the doom and gloom in the news - as my DD remarked, we've had the terrible news of the Nepal earthquake, not to mention the shocking activities of ISIS terrorists, so let's just for now have a smile for the new royal princess. Why not?

On my son's birthday too! Casting my mind back to my labour on the 2nd May, for most of that day I thought I was going to give birth to a princess, but in the end he came out minus a tiara....but with a couple of non princess additions, he was pink though, well pinkish shade of puce

DH has been listening to the radio in his workshop. He came in to announce the news and was miffed GN had beaten him too it

A new baby is always to be celebrated and I wish them all well. I do agree about the TV news reporters asking stupid questions. On BBC lunch time news one of them asked another journalist, "Now they have a boy and a girl, do you think Kate and William will call it a day or might they have a third?" and I find myself shouting at the TV "How does she know you stupid b****r."

8ib 3 oz is a fair weight. As somebody said, she hardly looked pregnant. I fancy Alice Louise for two of her many names.
