Do you have a special cup/mug for tea of coffee that you just have to use?

Having just returned from the gym, I'm slumped in front of Matthew Wright with a cup of coffee from my favourite mug. One of the discussions he has on later is about "favourite mugs", apparently some people are so obsessed with their "special" one that they will hide it from others. Perhaps it's idiosyncratic behaviour but that kind of resonates with me, I have a designated cup for coffee in the morning and another for tea in the afternoon. I only like tea out of bone china. I never used to be like this, I'm asking myself do we become more entrenched in certain routines as we get older? What about you?

Don't worry Terribull I too have a special bowl. I also like tea from a China mug but not coffee. I have another mug for milky drinks. Now I am really worried !!!!

I have a mug which is used for all my brews, given to me by my youngest son when he was about 8 years old (I think from the pound shop). He is now 33 years old. It is decorated with cornflowers but red not blue! My sons and grandchildren live in terror of it being broken as they believe it may break my heart. I love the mug, bleach the tea stains out regularly and monitor the hairline crack in the glaze but let's face it I would rather have my family than any mug,
no matter how special.

I have two favourite delicate china mugs which my son and Dil bought me from the V&A museum.

I keep them for visitors mostly but I have one with the words Special Nan on it with a cute Teddy Bear holding a flower.

Before I became a nan I would have thought this was a bit "daft" but now of course I drink from my Special Nan mug with pride. (smile)

I have a Spode Italian tea service which I keep in case The Queen drops by. It hasn't seen the light of day for years - I think she's avoiding me. Perhaps she caught me using tea bags last time.....!smile

Get that tea service out and use it, Greyduster. You are special enough for it and the queen can catch up with you later.

Thank you, Far North! Perhaps I'll get some fondant fancies and have a tea party - for one (I love fondant fancies!) grin
