Pompa ask your wife to buy biscuits that she loves, and to hide them. Only one pack a week, and you are allowed two biscuits once a week. Then, hopefully guilt will stop you from stealing as many as you would like to.

pompa Sat 09-May-15 12:02:48

The keen nose of a feral Pompa, can sniff out a biscuit at 50 yards.

janerowena Sat 09-May-15 12:14:24

I knew that.

Which is why you have to ask her to only buy one pack a week. How many does she eat? Would she stick to that for your sake? If you begged her nicely? DBH is out shopping and it's taken him months to realise that when I ask him not to buy me a slice of cake from the delicatessen, I really mean it. It only registered with him when he saw me cutting it into 4 and freezing it. It's taken me years to stop thinking of sugar as a treat, but as something that I am killing myself with.

Well, that's a cheery thought! grin But I am overweight and having all sorts of dietary problems, because I used to be so active I could eat anything I liked and stay slim, arthritis stopped all that and all of a sudden even the supposed allowance of 2000 calories a day is 500 too many, I put on weight if I eat that much. So every calorie I eat has to contain as much nutrition as possible, and in a biscuit, there is none. You'd be better off with a flapjack with all sorts of fruits and seeds and nuts in it, jings had a nice recipe.

I allow myself two biscuits a day, and why not? Sainsbury do some special ones in a box, with bits of stem ginger in, also Tesco, a sensible ie. Large size too!We don't want any fun size biccies.grin

janerowena

That's me on the left! I 'll have you know I have the copyright to 'my' photo. grin
How do they water that?

I find watering soooo therapoootic and you can do it sitting down, worked out how to run the obstacle course. Also we have lovely friends who enjoy the garden, bring a bottle and help water too. Great fun the summer. smile

soop Sat 09-May-15 12:36:19

Phew!!! In I stroll, hoping that a few of you lot have been having a blether...and, what do I find? Heckers! So much has happened since I logged off yesterday.

POGS and all our Granspals who are very busy in the garden people...you have my respect in bushels. I was the gardener for most of our marriage but now that I am very much less fit MacS stands in for me. He enjoys it so he's happy to be the boss. Rory always sitting very close at hand. wink

pompa I prefer this name. Bogoff wasn't anywhere near as pleasing or appropriate. Now that you have come out of the kitchen cupboard...PLEASE stay with us. We like having you around. As for biscuits...I haven't had one for almost a month. Like janer I need to be extremely cautious with my calorie intake much for the same reasons. hmm

hildaJ Your post has tickled my daft sense of humour. grin

Mishap Sat 09-May-15 12:43:03

I have just washed my biscuit tin for the first time in ......years! I am a hopeless housewife - but we all seem to have survived. I had to eat several biscuits to make them all fit in - an act of duty of course!

POGS Sat 09-May-15 12:50:26

And of course guarantee they are still fresh grin

What we have to do sometimes to provide hey!

rosesarered Sat 09-May-15 12:56:13

JaneRowena I posted my stem ginger biscuit post when I had not seen your post, we posted at much the same time.I understand why you have to be careful and am lucky that I don't have any dietary issues, although I try to eat most things in moderation and don't have much alchohol, which people forget has lots of calories.

hildajenniJ Sat 09-May-15 13:01:00

I'd love a biscuit! My OH is on a diet to lower his BP so biscuits are off the menu. I wonder if I could bake some just for me. I have one very over ripe banana. I wonder if I can find a banana biscuit recipe. Problem is, where would I hide them?

POgs A watering party, why did I never think of that?

Yes, sadly alcohol too is now rationed. DBH is much relieved, he had to ration himself years ago and is very pleased that I have had to join him. He happily presents me with a glass of red once a week on a Friday night - whereas I would prefer it on a Saturday! He calls it the celebration of the start of the weekend, and then clears off most Saturday mornings to a management meeting. And they say women are illogical.

Mishap grin

Our lovely friend with lung cancer has spent a few days in a specialist Glasgow hospital. She's now back in Campbeltown hospital (which pleases her greatly, because the staff are very special) and she is hoping to return home on Monday. Her husband (also a dear friend,) can no longer drive, so I shall take him to visit her this afternoon. We spent some time with her yesterday, so whilst they enjoy each other's company this afternoon, I can make a second visit to sit with the "gang of four" elderly lady residents in the care home. Another pal has given me a stack of magazines which I shall share with them.

It is a beautiful, sunny day in bonnie Kintyre. MacSporran is eager to get into the garden. Rory is aware that he will be overseeing things...he's waiting on the doorstep...soaking up the midday sunshine.

janerowena Sat 09-May-15 13:13:52

soop they will miss you when your visits stop.

soop Sat 09-May-15 13:14:58

Mishap Seven grandchildren to keep an eye on. Wow! You must be superwoman. Very impressed. flowers

Bella You are in my thoughts. If you can find a few spare minutes, please call in and tell us how things are with you and your family. sunshine

soop Sat 09-May-15 13:18:01

janer I fully intend to continue with at least one visit a week. It's a pleasure to spend time with the ladies. Each of them is special. smile

pompa has come out surely not shock shock

Mishap Sat 09-May-15 22:07:14

Your "gang of four" sound lovely soop - people of that age they have such tales to tell, and have lived through so much

pompa Sat 09-May-15 23:02:37

Now Now crafting, let's not be sexist, I can come out if I want grin. But if I don't stop eating biscuits I may not get out.

Mrs. P (welcome back Mrs. P ) and I both need to loose a lot of weight, so she is also banned from the biscuit tin.
Freakishly, we both got letters from the NHS marked Private & Confidential, Oh Oh !!
It was an invitation to a new free weight loss course in our village run by our GP clinic. We will phone and enrol Monday.

numberplease Sat 09-May-15 23:56:40

Soop, couldn`t help but smile, I`ve just been on the Kintyre forum, there`s someone trying to trace ancestors............by the name of McSporran!!

Stansgran Sun 10-May-15 10:35:13

Galen tell the insurers as it often takes a while for someone to come out and contact an interior design to give you an estimate for the lot and who will supervise for you. I have started to dread having carpets refitted or curtains taken down for cleaning. I hate the disruption. I need a very large window replacing and it involves curtains carpet and furniture up heavily. Please may I have a piece of soothing cake as I don't normally drop in?

rosesarered Sun 10-May-15 10:41:04

McSporran? you have to be joking numberplease
I have dropped in, not for soothing cake, a bit early for me, but for a soothing mug of mint tea with honey to help my sinus headache. All this blasted grass pollen about and Mr Roses has gone out to mow the lawn so I am hiding in a darkened room.sad

Charleygirl Sun 10-May-15 11:16:09

Once my washing is finished, I may move into the kitchen with Rory for the remainder of the day, although it may be longer, because there are no less than 9 posts relating to last week's election. Is this going to continue for 5 years or if we, heaven forbid, have an election sooner? My addled brain cannot cope.

pompa Sun 10-May-15 11:28:01

Risked planting out my Runner beans this morning and sowing French beans. Hope we don't get any frost.

pompa Sun 10-May-15 11:38:13

Charleygirl there are plenty of p/e free threads, and it is a total no no here, so sit with Rory and enjoy a cuppa any-time. Heading back to sort out behind shed, look our spiders, mice, rats WHY.
