I smiled today ...

I smiled today because I went on a lovely walk with best friend and my son's partner and their dogs. It was uphill all the way to a wonderful viewing point and I smiled even more on the way down.

Oh yes and I am still smiling after my G&T.

KatyK- the 3rd DH here to have a BD today. Bon anniversaire and so glad he is so much better.

Mine never thought he would get to 50- due to family history and his kidneys being permanently damaged by a strep throat when he was a medical student- wonderful to see him looking forward to his 70th skiing with the GCs next year.

I smiled today when I was able to text DD to tell her we would foot the bill for her car to be mended. She uses it mainly to cart our gorgeous grandkids round, so it's only right.

I smiled to day at the beautiful Daffodils out in the garden.

I smiled today when I received the most beautiful bouquet of spring flowers from a dear friend. There are so many good, kind people in my life who make me smile with their kindness

I smiled because I was packing up a knitted zebra I've just finished for DGS, it's pretty good, even if I say so myself!

I smiled today because DS is now back from Salisbury Plain and within mobile phone range, he rang to ask if he could home for the weekend. I suspect he just wants a proper bath. His phone is now out of charge though, so we are having to wait until it is charged up so that we can resume the conversation!

So many wonderful smiles- and even more wonderful, from some people who are really 'going through the mill' - so bravo, you are such a great bunch. And let's try to keep smiling, even in adversity

I smiled this morning when I came downstairs and saw lovely flowers in the hall, lounge and dining room. A real treat. All from my 2 DDs yesterday. Lovely thread granjura

I smiled today because after 6 years here, the work on the second bathroom (Italian style shower and WC) is starting today- we will soon have a proper 'guest wing'.

There's nothing like a new bathroom! All clean and shiney, with no watermarks! Hope all the fitting out goes well. x

I smiled today thinking of the conversation I had last evening with my 12 year old DGS about how to get a girlfriend.

I smiled when I woke up this morning because yesterday my DD rang to say she and the GC are coming this weekend and we haven't seen them since October.Nearly ex SiL is also coming but has decided to stay with his brother,however he will come over and see us. We haven't seen him since December 2013 and since their decision to separate.

I love all these smiles. Thank you granjura. How lovely that will be for your DH. Mine didn't expect to get very far into his 50s as his mum died at 52 and his dad at 58, so despite all the problems lately he is very pleased to be 69

Smiled again this afternoon as the first bees and butterflies were busy on the crocuses all along the house- let's hope all the banging upstairs (workers are hammering walls down!) won't frighten them away.

I smiled at the sight of a tiny toddler coupying down to watch a bumble bee on my primroses- she was virtually eye to eye with it!

I smiled today because student DS rang today to say that he has just negotiated his very first overdraft all by himself. His extremely specialised computer broke down irretrievably a couple of weeks ago, he needs it for his course, and we simply can't afford to replace it for him, so it has been a bit of a worry. I had really though we would have to take out a loan or something - it's astonishing when you discover that they are adult enough to sort out things like that for themselves.

I forgot to smile! It really has taken a weight off my mind.

I laughed out loud, a lot, this morning, at my U3A meeting, where we had a very entertaining speaker - it has left me smiling well into this afternoon!

I smiled today when my 2 doodle dogs were re-united after 4 nights apart. Their joy, it was a glory. They played bowed, grabbed each others ears and stood on their hind legs, play boxing. I honestly saw them smiling

I smiled with relief when the U3A AGM was finally over!

I smiled today because my dear youngest GD (just 2) came to us for the day and she is a ray of joy - I am on my knees with exhaustion now, but would not have changed a moment of it - even when she was saying "No"!
