Hello and welcome...grin

numberplease Sat 11-Apr-15 19:04:08

The difference is that last time physio hadn`t passed him fit to go, but this time they have, plus the doctors have passed him medically fit.
Bella, so sorry you`re going through such an anxious time. I hope that there`s better news in 2 weeks time.
I noticed in town today that a local jewellery shop has moved from just outside the actual centre of town right into the centre. I can`t afford to buy there, but saw some stuff in their window that I really loved, no price tags though, so I just looked it up and it`s way too expensive for me.

Have just checked in to the kitchen and found so much going on with sick DHs. Sending lots of flowers to all you stressed and over stretched ladies. Hospital visiting, appointments and home nursing are all consuming and so exhausting I remember, with added emotional turmoil too. Never easy.
On a very trivial note, I thought I'd update on our two introduced cats. They are very sweet natured cats who have settled well and seem to enjoy having lots of people around to stroke and pet them. When DB and DSiL were staying recently they had lots of extra fuss and loved it. However our own cat is not at all impressed. Lots of hissing and howling when she sees them, but no actual fisticuffs (pawsicuffs?) Thanks for all the advice, it helped a lot.

More problems with my son/daughter.
S/he has now revealed they had a seizure a couple of weeks ago. S/he is legally changing their name to Lucy at the end of the month.
I'm trying to be supportive but am finding it difficult

ffinnochio Sat 11-Apr-15 22:30:40

galen flowers.

Lona Sat 11-Apr-15 22:38:23

Galen I'm sorry you're finding things so difficult. It's hard when you're alone and have no one to talk it over with flowers

Galen Sat 11-Apr-15 22:38:45

Thanksmoon

janerowena Sat 11-Apr-15 23:04:03

Poor galen. flowers Do you think it was the stress of changing his/her life that caused it?

Glad the cats are settling in, I remember it usually took a month or so when I had cats.

Niece has had more tumour drained off, they will fit a plate over the entrance hole so that she won't have a caved-in section on her forehead for her wedding. So at least it looks as if all that will still go ahead, thank heavens. Being young, her skin heals remarkably quickly. I am resigning myself to her having an op a year and having to take out shares in Balloon Monkey.

Purpledaffodil Sun 12-Apr-15 06:50:45

Galen, that must be so difficult for you. Have you thought of contacting www.beaumontsociety.org.uk? Their website says they offer support to families of transgender people. flowers to you.

NanKate Sun 12-Apr-15 08:06:59

Morning Tegan. I have sent you a PM. Fancy a brew ?

NanKate Sun 12-Apr-15 08:35:58

Sorry Galen for some unexplained reason I get you muddled with Tegan anyway I have PM you.

I've been away over Easter, in Shropshire where we had the occasional half hour with an internet signal. I picked up 4 text messages on my mobile at the top of a hill but the signal then disappeared again. It was very relaxing and restorative. I've had a look at some of the other threads and can see there are some benefits of a lack of internet connection.

What a lot of ill husbands/partners some of we kitcheners have. Sending love to them and especially to the women keeping on, keeping going.

Confession time, I didn't make a simnel cake this year, I bought one at the Ludlow food centre. We had our girls and their OHs with us over the Easter weekend, despite which half the cake remains. I can slice it thinly as it's so rich - cake anyone?

NanKate Sun 12-Apr-15 09:35:08

I will take up your offer of the simnel cake Iam64 just a small piece to go with my morning brew thanks.

Charleygirl Sun 12-Apr-15 10:55:56

Purpledaffodil try to give extra love to the older cat- she will appreciate it, feeling that her home has been invaded by strangers and they appear to be staying. I have nothing else to say- I hope that they will at least learn to tolerate each other. I would not leave them in the same room if you go out though!

Galen flowers from me also, it must be very hard for you.

soop Sun 12-Apr-15 13:23:37

flowers in abundance to ALL our Kitcheners. Do you realise that, before too long, we shall have to open yet another extension? Well, 'tis true. I would hate for us not to have our meeting place. So, very soon we shall make sure that our kitchen extends and we can all celebrate.

Galen I ask myself how would I feel in your situation. Truthfully...my love/support for my offspring irrespective of a new set of rules would remain as it has always been...unconditional. I'm sending you a tender, loving (hug) x

dustyangel Sun 12-Apr-15 13:23:49

I'll have a slice of simple cake please Iam64. I didn't make one either this year either, I've given up carbs in real life at the moment and a slice of cake would go down very well after my soup for lunch.

Galen I'm thinking of you. Does your daughter/son know what caused the seizure? flowers

flowers to all who have worries over their partners and children.

Charleygirl Sun 12-Apr-15 13:46:02

soop yes, I have been thinking of our move. My one hope is that it does not interfere with MacSporran's treatment. Rory to date has never been inconvenienced as the only two things that inconvenience him would be if you and MacSporran stayed out longer than planned and his food was not in his plate on time. The latter obviously being more important.

I had an electrician working here for 2 days and Tara was most put out as she could not settle to sleep until around 4pm each day. That suited me fine because I could watch TV uninterrupted for 2 evenings, not having Tara ask to go in and out like the proverbial yo-yo. As I explained ages before, all of the house staff are on holiday so there is nobody except me around to open and close doors, even her catflap if she feels so inclined to use it.

She does not think that she has been spoiled- it is her right.

jollyg Sun 12-Apr-15 16:22:02

Galen I find your posts extremely confusing regarding the sexuality of your kids.

Can you please explain what the problem is.

Mums should be staunch in defence of their children.

You appear to be a health professional, tribunal member, cruiser.

I do hope your kids have an identity in your mind, and you respect that

More problems with my son/daughter.
S/he has now revealed they had a seizure a couple of weeks ago. S/he is legally changing their name to .

They are your kids and should be adressed as such, not he/she

mrshat Sun 12-Apr-15 17:07:34

jollyg I know it's difficult when one is not fully aware of the 'back story' on these forums, and I don't usually comment on other's opinions, but in this case I feel it might be worth your while reading back to Galen's previous input.
Galen flowers and sunshine. It must be extremely difficult for you just now. Hang on in there and good health to all your family.

Galen Sun 12-Apr-15 17:10:54

They do both have an identity in my mind. After 43 years of being him, I find it difficult to think of him as her!
My worry is the seizure, not the sexuality !
The sex change has not happened yet. Legally she is still he.
She says I am being very supportive so I can't see its any of your business to criticise me.
I shall leave GN which has always been a very supportive and helpful forum up until now!

annsixty Sun 12-Apr-15 17:16:38

Galen I really cannot believe that you could let one post make you consider leaving GN. You have said you have had help and support so you should stay and give the same to others. Don't cut off your nose to spite your face as my mother used to say.

Elegran Sun 12-Apr-15 17:18:49

Galen Ignore the comment from Jollyg . He/she has only been on Gransnet for a very brief time, so has missed your posts about your child's imminent gender change. It is not yet legal or complete, and is new enough for you to still be ambivalent about what to refer to her as. I do hope all is well re the seizure.

Jollyg You are jolly quick to censure where you know nothing. Kindly button it until you know the situation.

Charleygirl Sun 12-Apr-15 17:22:03

Galen I think that it was very unfair to criticise you, especially as you have explained in past posts what had been going on in your family.

I agree with you that the seizure would be very worrying, if on its own or worse, accompanied by others.

I think that you should "hang on in" because as you have said, GN has helped you in the past.

soop's kitchen is an area where one does not expect crticism, there are many more posts for that as many of us know to our cost! That person is one who rarely posts on here so I would be inclined to try to ignore her. You have support from the rest of us!

Galen Sun 12-Apr-15 17:26:24

Thanks friend!

Juliette Sun 12-Apr-15 17:31:57

Support from me too Galen x

Greenfinch Sun 12-Apr-15 17:33:16

Galen I can understand how raw you feel and how worried. You don't deserve such criticism even if the background is unknown.

I think an apology is in order here.
