I have found an expensive way of losing weight. I have had an electrician here all day and although I have given him heaps of coffee I have not provided food so since a very early breakfast I have had soup, 2 slices of toast and a banana and it is nealy 7pm. A repeat performance tomorrow- hopefully that will be 2 kg gone.

Bella I do hope that your husband was well enough to fly today. Hopefully he will feel better in his own home and closer to his medics.

After a second visit to my dishy Chiropractor, I've had a peaceful day. No tearful phonecalls, no bad news, just sunshine (and 4 new tshirts )
My bad knee is improving and so is my shoulder!
My cup runneth over!

I see Galen's got herself a man again. Galen's quite happy to invite us into the cellar and describes the plush decor but I had no idea there was a bar or barman until Soop mentioned him!

Finally got DH home at 10.30 tonight-it's. a 2 hour journey more or less door to door. He started his 3rd and 4th units of blood (concentrated red blood cells no less! Not blue early this morning and the iron infusion (4hours) in the afternoon. Got him out shortly after 8, once he had got his clothes on there was no stopping us! I sincerely hope Mr Bella has been able to fly home again today and that Mr Numberplease is behaving himself. We've got your "number" you know!
Anyway, all good wishes to everybody for what we hope will be a sunny Friday!

Hello to all my darling Kitcheners

I'm so pleased that Mr Soutra has had the "top-up" that he needed. My very best wishes to you both.

I'm hoping that Bella is home. Also hoping that Mr number is toeing the line and being patient.

This morning MacSporran saw the very pleasant cardiac man. The aneurysm can be felt and needs to be scanned regularly. Today, had there been a radiologist on site, he could have had the procedure there and then. Needs another appointment to get the ball rolling, so to speak. At present the bulge isn't causing problems, or concern. He was told, when I see that there has been significant change, I shall operate. Until such time, best leave well alone.

Visited our pal in the care home. He still clings on to the vague hope that one day he'll be returning home. Sadly, that isn't going to happen. I also spent a little time with my new friend Margaret (who is 94) and her sister. Both ladies are such spirited people. I wish that I could visit them more often.

Pleased the news about yourDH is positive. I am sure once the scans get underway you will be happier. My friend's cousin was found to have one and they all had to cancel a holiday to Oz,but she has since had the op and is back to her "several" holidays a year.

Soop, I`m so glad that MacSporran`s news was reassuring. Hubby had to have an immediate op for his aneurysm, because it measured 10 cms on discovery, they said that they start to keep an eye on them once they reach 5cms.
Hubby tripped and fell going to bed last night, cutting his forehead. He tripped going up the step into the bedroom, so ended up coming downstairs and sleeping on the settee. The district nurse came this morning to change his dressings, she said if we had the space we could be provided with a bed for him to sleep down here, but she said it was obvious that we hadn`t the space for a bed. We have another room, but our daughter has slept in there since 1996.
Does anyone know if Bella got home OK yesterday?

Thank you for all the heartening news regarding aneurysms. It is very kind of you to share personal experiences. I believe MacS's is 5cms.

number I am so very sorry to hear everything you and your DH are going through at present. I am quite appalled that he was in fact discharged so soon for a second time when the staff knew what your home situation was like, expecting you to take sole care of him until some organised home care is in place beggars belief. I really feel for you having to deal with so much. Please take care of yourself too number and make sure you too get enough rest.

Also hoping all went well for baubles and her DH today.

What a lot of DH's causing concern. Sending our love and best wishes to Mr Soutra, Mr Number and, of course, our own dear MacSporran for happy outcomes of all their medical problems, and to their long-suffering other halves

We got back yesterday, slightly delayed due to the French air traffic controllers being on strike. We were re-routed over German air space which made the flight a bit more interesting as we watched the little TV map of our plane wending its way - a change from the usual France/Italy route

Today we were up early in order to be at DH's chemo appointment on time. To cut a long story short, he had a very bad reaction to the chemo so they have said it is not safe for him to have it again. We now have to wait two weeks whilst they do some tests to see whether or not his tumour would be receptive to herceptin. If not, they didn't tell us what plan B is, or if there even is a plan B, so all rather concerning.

Babysitting DGD this weekend whilst DD2 and her new partner have a weekend in Gozo. She isn't much bother, bless her, and will take our minds off our woes.

The house is in need of a spring clean so I must try to find someone to help me as my back has been agony since my back-flip off the ladder, and I'm only fit for dusting and a bit of ironing. Floors and windows are beyond me at present, I'm afraid.

Good to hear you eventually got home, 'scenic route' I believe it's called. I can well understand how concerned you must be regarding Mr. B's cancer treatment, must be very worrying for you both and your family. I truly hope Plan B comes to fruition.
Sorry to hear your acrobatic fall is still jiggering up your back, can you bribe recruit a handsome young man to help with spring cleaning? Galen seems to have the knack, perhaps she can offer some tips....?

So many OHs giving cause for concern still.

We took a day off from building raised veg beds today and went to visit Hyde Hall, the RHS garden in Essex. It was interesting, but not a patch on Wisley. And cake portions were teeny. Lovely weather though, whole families in shorts! And some very good plantings in beautiful colours, they must employ someone with a very good eye for colour and design. We stopped off in Bury St.Edmunds on the way home and had dinner in a lovely old restaurant, so it was a good day out. Plus we came home with a boot full of plants.

Hmm some qualified optimism out there perhaps? '*Number please* I don't know how you are keeping going under the circumstances. Could your DC not help by taking DH off your hands for a bit-even an afternoon so that you can get your breath back? And Bella, chemo is powerful stuff and I suppose it follows that for some people it can do more harm than good. I would be hopeful that your oncology team have a Plan B, it is amazing what they will have dealt with in the past and can do again, so everything crossed for you.
Soop I am so glad mcSporran will be monitored, DH 's aneurysm which was just above his heart, was discovered purely by chance and operated on as soon as they could. He was very lucky. It is the people out there who have not had it diagnosed who do not find out until it is too late -like my late MIL.
We spent the evening in our local A&E as DH realised he was seeing some signs of a probable gastric bleed only he didn't tell me until I got back from shopping at nearly 5. The best we could get from the GP was a call back and that didn't come until 6. The advice was to have another full blood test at A&E and possible examination so off we trooped. Seen after nearly 3 hours, he was told he could go home if he felt well enough as his blood was OK (so it should be after 4pints!) well OK enough, but if he felt unwell, obviously to go back. As he is due back at the Royal Free on Monday there's not a lot else that could be done, especially over a weekend and in a non-specialist hospital.
Tired now, me as well as him. well, weary.

Soutra number and Bella, no wonder you are all feeling weary, I dont know how you all keep going. Let's hope there's a change for the better soon.

Darling Kitcheners I've been reading through your messages.

Bella I can well imagine how dispiriting you felt on returning home. We're all rooting for your dear husband. It is such a pity that we as individuals cannot do more to support you throughout this anxious time. Please keep coming into our kitchen* as knowing that we really ^care for you hopefully helps in some small measure.

Soutra of course you are exhausted. So much toing and froing and uncertainty takes a lot out of you. number you remain in our thoughts. I cannot understand the "logic" behind sending your husband back to the same set of circumstances that failed to work in the first place.
