The flipping Idiot strikes again! No need to read - I just have a need to vent!!

I've previously mentioned the top of the range car that the Idiot presented to DD3 at Christmas 2011 (with a big red ribbon on top) that actually turned out to belong to his company and is either on a lease or HP (can't quite get to the bottom of that one).

Part of the reason that she hasn't taken him to the CMS is that, on top of her maintenance (when/if it comes), she has a fuel card and the car is taxed and insured by the company and is, therefore, saving her quite a bit of money. He also said he would pay for servicing and repairs as they are really expensive.

DD has recently had the car MOTed and was told that the tyres needed replacing, as did the brake pads. When she told the Idiot, he said to book it in and he'd pay. Today, she took it for new tyres (£550) and sent him a message saying how much they were going to cost, where upon he replied that she could pay for them herself and for anything else that needs doing.

I am so livid!!! angryangry

Last time he messed around with the fuel card and then also took her off the insurance, we were all ready to buy her a run around that she would pay us back for, by instalments. He then put her back on the insurance and reinstated her fuel card so we left things. So, we are back at square one but have spent a small fortune on tyres.

I moan about DD and the children messing up my house but, she picks herself up and gets on with things every time he messes her around and, this week, she has two exhibition cakes, two birthday cakes and 3 consultations to cope with. I feel as though he has her on one of those extending dog leads which he plays out and then hauls back on a whim!

What a mixed up Idiot he is!

How on earth could he present her with a 'company' car and a fuel card?
Sounds somewhat dubious to me.....
Oh dear kitty, how convoluted a web some people weave, I do feel for you, having to deal with the aftermath.....

kittylester Mon 02-Feb-15 14:39:34

Like all of his grand gestures loopy, not quite what they appear to be! angry

kitty I'm so sorry this goes on and on and your poor daughter!I hope her business does fantastically well and she can tell him to go run!!

ninathenana Mon 02-Feb-15 15:00:19

flowers for you and DD on second thoughts, two very large wines

vampirequeen Mon 02-Feb-15 15:10:08

He's playing the control game and your DD has fallen for it. He is in control of her because he is in control of the car. She needs to tell him to keep the car and take up your offer of another that she can afford to run. Then she needs to get her maintenance on a legal footing so that it can be docked directly from his wages if he fails to pay.

whenim64 Mon 02-Feb-15 15:13:29

If I were her, I'd tell him to stick his car where the sun don't shine. And anything else that enables him to play control games.

Lona Mon 02-Feb-15 15:14:16

kitty flowers I have every sympathy! I daren't put on a public site what our idiot is doing at the moment!
He may well end up in prison. More stuff for dd to deal with!

kittylester Mon 02-Feb-15 15:37:37

Oh, Lona, I'm sorry you are still having problems. They sound much worse than ours too. flowers

Vampirequeen, DH and I decided at lunch time that we are going to work on that with her. She is so worn down by him that she sometimes takes the easy option - but she is getting stronger.

I hope you spotted that I merely said 'him' rather than anything else I could have called him grin DH isn't quite so restrained!! blush

soontobe Mon 02-Feb-15 15:39:14

I would accept nothing from him. Less pain that way.

shysal Mon 02-Feb-15 15:45:46

I agree with vampirequeen that it is all about him wanting to be in control. I know the scenario only too well! If you can manage it, providing her with an economical car would help. I would suggest buying it in your name and insuring her to drive it, so that it does not count as an asset if there is a dispute over maintenance.

harrigran Mon 02-Feb-15 15:57:42

I agree, tell him to take his car and shove it. Life would be a lot easier without him yanking the strings.

Anne58 Mon 02-Feb-15 16:09:38

Perhaps you should invoke my curse again kitty grin

But so sorry to hear that he's still causing upset.

Nelliemoser Mon 02-Feb-15 16:18:15

What would happen to him if the company knew she had it?

I would dump it back on his doorstep forthwith minus the child car seats and leave him to it.
What an A* H***.

I think shysal has a good point.

kittylester Mon 02-Feb-15 16:20:44

Phoenix could you do something a little stronger please! grin

Two problems with your scenario soon, she has two little ones to keep and, while we can help in the short term, it's not fair on our other children. Also, he should pay for his children!

loopylou Mon 02-Feb-15 16:23:53

Good idea Nellie, phone his company and ask them to collect it?

kittylester Mon 02-Feb-15 16:30:36

It's his company!! But I love your description nellie grin

loopylou Mon 02-Feb-15 16:35:37

Oh, didn't realise kitty, sorry!
He isn't 'saving her money' if she's forking out for tyres etc., do hope Phoenix can conjure up a strong curse ( intriguing thought!)

kittylester Mon 02-Feb-15 16:39:27

The last one involved piles and all sorts of revolting things and, in fact, he does have piles so a really strong one might do the trick! grin

loopylou Mon 02-Feb-15 16:57:17

For a moment I thought you were talking about concrete piles (Mafia-style!)

kittylester Mon 02-Feb-15 17:11:13

Tempting! Very very tempting!!!

Lona Mon 02-Feb-15 17:24:02

I'll bring the cement and the shovel........ :-)

kittylester Mon 02-Feb-15 17:40:47

You could use them afterward Lona, then Nina and we could justkeep passing them round

Lona Mon 02-Feb-15 18:00:24

grin Oh yes!!!

FarNorth Mon 02-Feb-15 18:15:53

Kitty your DD should accept nothing from the idiot, other than properly arranged maintenance payments.
Being messed around by him is not an easy option for her or anyone else.

You say that helping her is not fair to your other children - have you asked them? They might be willing for you to help her with money if it reduces stress all round.

Your DD should use legal means to get whatever she can out of him and shouldn't put up with his stupid games any longer.
