Here we are again...happy as can be...all good pals and jolly good company. Slainte! wine

Lona Tue 10-Feb-15 17:11:37

Well, yet again my hairdresser seems to be from another planet that doesn't understand English!
After stressing that I didn't want it too short I now make Judy Dench look like a long haired hippy!!
shock
Is it just me?

grin

soop Tue 10-Feb-15 17:37:06

Lona I really like the Judy Dench hairstyle. It is chic and very easy to manage. Hair grows and, if the basic cut has been done well, it should be just fine a few of weeks from now. smile

Galen I fully understand the point that you are making. I can imagine how one would panic should the need arise to vacate the room in an emergency. shock No doubt you will raise the matter with management. Don't forget to mention that you are a Kitchener and as such you are a very important person. Beware of lift doors! flowers

soop Tue 10-Feb-15 17:39:16

Time to log off. Wishing all my Granspals a peaceful evening. Until tomorrow... moon xxx

Lona Tue 10-Feb-15 17:44:16

Thank goodness for soop pouring oil on troubled waters always. What would we do without her wise and loving words?

Tegan Tue 10-Feb-15 17:58:08

I was told to rub either Sensodyne or the new Colgate toothpaste for sensitive teeth onto my teeth each night. And every now and then use Corsodyl toothpaste

Galen Tue 10-Feb-15 17:58:16

It's not vacating the room in an emergency that's worrying me!
It's vacating it to get to the bar!

Oldgreymare Tue 10-Feb-15 18:19:47

Galen smile hope you got to the bar...... cheers!

annodomini Tue 10-Feb-15 18:49:03

Galen, it seems I owe Cross Country Trains an apology though am shocked at the absence of V&T. I am sure that, come what may, you will find a way of reaching the bar. I have confidence in your guile.

Crafting Tue 10-Feb-15 19:35:50

If you get stuck Galen send out a cry for help and all the kitcheners will descend upon your hotel and propel you at high speed to the bar....... Where you can buy us a wine grin

soutra come back. You can't have done something that bad. You'll be safe in the kitchen anyway. smile

Crafting Tue 10-Feb-15 19:38:28

Ooh! I've just had to rush back into the kitchen with the latest news. I've found a chicken....... look roastchicken.... Now all we need is some roast potatoes and a nice gooey chocolate dessert and we'll be well set up.

Charleygirl Tue 10-Feb-15 21:54:50

My stairlift which received a total overhaul a week ago broke down again today. I could not believe it, the engineer was here in just over an hour but he was born in a barn because the front door was wide open for ages, all of my expensive precious heating escaping.

Luckily there was a fault with last week's pack, made in China, so no expense to me. Strangely, I had no intention of forking out a penny because the new "pack" fitted last week is under warranty for a year and should last for 5. I will be joining soutra behind the sofa because I have had enough and need a dark place to curl up.

annodomini Tue 10-Feb-15 22:14:56

Soutra, come out from behind that sofa. We are here to look after you.

janerowena Tue 10-Feb-15 22:36:35

Oh dear charleygirl. I hope you are sorted soon.

galen you deserve every drop of alcohol at that bar, after your shock. I think you had better take a nightcap up with you, as well.

Soutra Tue 10-Feb-15 23:48:35

<Muffled> still waiting for some cupcake

Soutra Tue 10-Feb-15 23:51:15

Should be in bed, taking DH to hospital first thing for another blood transfusion. I knew he was getting grumpy and very tired, but he wasn't well enough this morning for me to take him to the Royal Free for his appointment so I knew something was wrong. Got him a blood test this morning and luckily the result came through by mid afternoon.

numberplease Wed 11-Feb-15 00:40:39

Not having a very good week. Hubby went into hospital nearly 3 weeks ago for a simple? stoma reversal operation. All went according to plan, but he then developed a chest infection which severely hindered his breathing. We were called to the hospital last Friday at 3.30am, thought that was it, but he`s now in ICU, has been in an induced sleep since Friday, and now has pneumonia. We are waiting for the doctors to decide when it`s the right time to wake him up.

Soutra Wed 11-Feb-15 06:47:00

flowersflowers numberplease thinking of you and DH, hoping all will be well and sending you my love and a {hug}

soutra and number what difficult times you are both having. Hope both DHs improve soon flowers flowers and ((huggs))

soutra here's a big cupcake to share with charleygirl and a nice warm brew to entice you both out from behind the sofa.

Bellasnana Wed 11-Feb-15 07:40:42

The kitchen has been busy since I last looked in. Very sorry to hear your DH is in a bad way, numberplease, and do hope he will pull through this set-back. flowers

Soutra don't go hiding anywhere. We need you smile

Lona believe it or not, the same thing happened to me last week. Asked for my hair to be cut a "little" shorter, but the hairdresser took that to mean a "lot" shorter! I don't feel like me any more, but as soop so rightly pointed out, it will grow.

We have my dear BIL staying at present which is lovely. He was my late sister Pippa's husband and I know she would be happy that we've all kept in touch.

Unfortunately, I've had a stinking cold which has made me feel really yuck so it has been a bit of a struggle to keep going.

Still coming to terms with some family news which has saddened me but won't bore you with it all today. In any case, I should stop breathing my germs over you all and clear off!

I am leaving you some delicious 'prinjolata' which is a Maltese sweet only available at Carnival time. It is very sweet but delicious with a brew .

Take care, dear granspals you are all in my thoughts sunshine smile

Lona Wed 11-Feb-15 07:49:51

Hope you feel better soon Bella, flowers
number and Soutra flowers hope things improve for you too.

kittylester Wed 11-Feb-15 08:45:27

Bella, I'm here if there is anything sweet going!! Sorry things are making you sad , hopefully having your bil there will make you feel better!

Number and Soutra (((hugs))). Let us know how things go!

annodomini Wed 11-Feb-15 09:36:48

Sympathy to all of you and your OHs who are suffering one way or another. Bella, I hope you didn't pick up that flu virus that I was spreading round Rome a few weeks ago! number, that's an awful trial for you and I hope that there's a good outcome for your DH; likewise, Soutra - take care of yourself as well as DH. cupcake to all of you and thanks, Bella, for your delicious sweet. I have an unfortunate craving for sweet things at the moment.

annsixty Wed 11-Feb-15 11:06:58

So sorry number to read about your DH as I remember saying how well my friend's reversal had gone. I hope you soon have some better news and and he is back home with you flowers

Soutra Wed 11-Feb-15 11:46:21

I am sure somebody will start a thread (as this has to resonate more with us than Mum's make up tips or chocolate buttons!) but I am confining myself to the safety of the kitchen, and not just (well...) for the brew and cupcake so I will say it here.
I could feel the tears welling up as I listened to last night's BBC news and the report of that dear little 4 year old killed by the runaway lorry. Any of us grans would give our life for our DGC as this poor Grandma must have tried to do.
flowers to Mitzi's family and to her brave Grandma. sad
