Here we are again...happy as can be...all good pals and jolly good company. Slainte! wine

annodomini Mon 09-Feb-15 21:46:43

Don't raise your expectations, Galen. I've seen more luxurious seats in standard class on other lines than first class on Cross Country! You can go on the web site to book wi-fi access.

dustyangel Mon 09-Feb-15 22:20:55

Galen I've only just caught up with your news as I can only use the internet in the evening at the moment and am consequently forever trying to catch up.
I hope it doesn't take too long for you to get over the shock/surprise and that things go well for you and Lucy. (As you say Joanna might have been easier) Meanwhile hugs and sunshine for you, and a very largewine. Safe journey for tomorrow.

janerowena Mon 09-Feb-15 22:24:57

It's going to come out as Juicy, isn't it.... You are going to be in such trouble! grin

Lona Tue 10-Feb-15 09:43:54

Janer grin Norty!!

soop hope your pain has faded away now, it's horrible having toothache, or earache.

It's a dull, drab day here in "Wag" town, but I'm having my hair done later, which is a good thing now that I've found a decent cutter again!
Anyone fancy a cappuccino?

Charleygirl Tue 10-Feb-15 11:05:40

soop it sounds as though dentine was applied to your gums. I had that done around 3 months ago but I did not suffer the pain that you did prior to application. I found that it took a couple of weeks for my pain to settle and now it is okay but I have no idea how long it lasts.

janerowena Tue 10-Feb-15 11:06:49

Oh yes... I was debating hot chocolate, and wondering why I haven't had a single one yet this year, but cappuccino sounds far better. I've had three black coffees this morning already and no breakfast yet, I need something to line my stomach.

annodomini Tue 10-Feb-15 11:12:50

Yes, it is a 'nothing' kind of day here, Lona. No sunshine, no rain, not too cold, not warm... Still, I'm going out to lunch with a friend and that should brighten the day for both of us. I might need to find a new hair-cutter soon, Lona. I like mine, but not the cutting she's done recently. I will give her one more chance and very specific instructions. My dentist is retiring and I'm going to take the opportunity to switch to a more local practice which is highly regarded here.

whenim64 Tue 10-Feb-15 11:24:34

Guess what, anno - foggy here yet again. I think I need to shift my house five miles up the road as they're not getting fog at all.

Galen Tue 10-Feb-15 12:46:46

On the train. Comfortable good clean rolling stock and guess what?
FREE WIFI IN IST CLASS!
I'm happy.
Trolley will be round soon. V&T here I come.
Don't normally drink in the day, but, a 4 hour train journey!

Lona Tue 10-Feb-15 13:03:57

anno I think hairdressers start to get complacent and take you for granted after a while!
There are about 14 different salons here and I've spied on researched them all! grin

janerowena Tue 10-Feb-15 14:31:28

The whole journey sounds wonderful, galen. Being driven along in comfort, lovely scenery, food, drink and wifi. Luxury.

annsixty Tue 10-Feb-15 14:37:40

Whenever I have fancied a G+T on a train there is never any ice so I do without. Really can't drink warm G+T.

Soutra Tue 10-Feb-15 14:50:09

"I'm no awa tae bide awa
I'll aye come back and see ye"

But you won't be hearing from me for a while. Back behind the sofa.

Elegran Tue 10-Feb-15 14:55:01

We'll throw a biscuit or two over the back of the sofa to you.

janerowena Tue 10-Feb-15 15:00:16

Just sit in here for a while. We all make mistakes. And memories are short. Or is that just mine?

soop Tue 10-Feb-15 15:04:26

Galen Happy Merry travels. Take good care of yourself and come back soon.

Soutra has been upset by something/someone or other. I am clueless regarding the truth of the matter. All I can say is...we always enjoyed each other's company. Please don't disappear, Soutra you are a valued member of our kitchen. smile

Update on the aching teeth. As I was eating my breakfast, the hot porridge hit "the spot" and made me yowl. At almost that very moment, the dentist telephoned. He isn't my usual dentist, she was off duty yesterday, but he had discussed my visit with her when she arrived for work this morning. She says that the problem is "thinning of the enamel together with receding gums..." He enquired..."has the pain eased?"...I replied, "no"... he then suggested that I use a certain fluoride toothpaste, and promised to ring back in a few days. MacS went into Tarbet and purchased the recommended toothpaste. I'm to massage it into the tooth and gum twice daily. Well, I'm always scoffing when adverts bang on about the benefits of certain dental products. Now that I'm the sufferer, I have to hold up my hands and say...thank goodness for whatever the ingredient is that has made eating my lunch and drinking hot coffee far, far less of a nightmare. What a fine dental surgery we are blest with. flowers

soop Tue 10-Feb-15 15:05:46

Soutra Behind the sofa is NO place for one of our Kitcheners. Get thee back right this minute...or else...wink

soop Tue 10-Feb-15 15:06:47

annsixty Ice is a must when enjoying a G&T grin

Gagagran Tue 10-Feb-15 15:08:38

I am the fortunate recipient today of one of wonderful soop's wonderful paintings and once I have got it framed I am going to arrange for it to be exhibited on GN. Our two rescue cats are now immortalised in paint! All done from an i-pad photo or three - how does she do it? My art collection is growing and this will take pride of place. Thank you so much soop. flowers

soop Tue 10-Feb-15 15:10:18

Gaga It was a pleasure. Thank you flowers

annsixty Tue 10-Feb-15 15:25:54

My good neighbour has just adopted a rescue cat.He is called Jake and is 8 years old and is a sweetie. He has a bad limp so had been "passed over" by others. His leg has obviously been broken at some time and not set. The bottom part of his leg is at an angle but he gets about. The vet assures her he is not in pain and he has found a lovely new home.

Galen Tue 10-Feb-15 16:07:40

No V&T had to make do with wine! Almost at York. Just leaving Leeds!

janerowena Tue 10-Feb-15 16:10:46

So we get to see the portrait after all! smile

Wine is very good for you, galen.

soop Tue 10-Feb-15 16:22:58

grin *Galen.

annsixty I do love to hear about happy endings for rescue animals.

jane Portrait, when framed, will be on view. smile

Galen Tue 10-Feb-15 17:10:40

Booked into hotel. Lovely wet room. Only problem so far is that the door to my room has a self closing spring. You can't manage those with a scooter and they're difficult with a wheelchair.
Why can't. People think!
