Hello everyone - my puss cats are here! They are not the ones I'd spotted on the rescue centre's web site though (A Mum and daughter). We were not allowed to have them as the catwoman inspector had put that we lived on a busy road and should be allocated older or nervous cats! It's a B road and she did say that any road can be busy and be lethal to cats but had put down the comment which meant we could not have the Mum and daughter.

I was a bit cross to start with but then fell for two more - Arizona and Kansas who had been in the centre for 6 months and had been very nervy and shy. However they both came straight to me and were lovely - especialy Arizona. They were rescued as kittens from a home with 16 neglected cats and other animals and because Kansas is shy had not "sold themselves" to prospective adopters. When Arizona started purring as I stroked her, my heart melted and I could not say no. So we have come home with them both and I think will need patience and TLC to make them ours. I will try and get DH to take a picture to put on here but don't really know how to do it!

I'm really sorry to have to log off and do other things. I shall return in the morning and HOPE to hear news of the pussy cats and may even see a photo. Lots of love as always to you lot

I usually enter 50% You then save and the image will be the correct size for up-loading on GN. I'm not good at explaining tech stuff. Thank you for looking after me, everyone. The problem is that Mum's home is very good. I think what we have is a difference of professional opinion that's all but it's a blinking roller coaster and I never go on them at the fair.

It's exhausting when you dare not take your eye off the ball kitty, share same sentiments about roller coasters and lack of a consistent approach.

As Mum has lost her dentures we (me and the staff) spent yesterday turning the lounge and Mum's room upside down - to no avail. This morning I got a phone call from today's senior asking if I'd got them at home as Mum had no teeth!!

Reminds me when very green student nurse (who spent hours in the sluice, being bottom of the heap) I was told to clean all the patients' dentures. Having never met a pair of dentures in my life, I asked how, and was told to put them in a bowl.
So, I put them all (38 patients) in a bowl.....together......took me the whole shift to return to the relevant patients, and still, 43 years later, am sure didn't return to correct owners.
You could get dentures marked with patient's name, not sure if still can?

dusty that was a horrid thing to happen and to come home to an empty house having to clear up the mess when you wanted to sit down with a cup of tea takes the biscuit. I do hope that the wounds heal and that you have not been too traumatised.

Well, actually, because 50% of DH's work is from dentures being lost in NH or hospitals, I did have them for a while but I had given them back, honest. She is taking vast amounts of salbutamol [or something similar] which is making her mouth very sore so I think she took them out, put them down and one of the 'shufflers' (as I call them) picked them up. There about 3 people who live in the same home who just walk up and down perpetually and I found one walking out of Mum's room with a couple of Mum's jumpers over her arm.

It's difficult to name them retrospectively, she would have to be without them for a while and who ever stole them would presumably put them somewhere obscure anyway. A bit like Bertie putting all sorts of things in the hot trolley!!

The thing that mattered to me was that they hadn't 'handed over' the information!

No water last night and no electricity this morning. Rang the power line on the landline phone, no mobile signal in this bit of Sussex, to be told to check the web page. how the bleeping bleep am I supposed to check the web page when no electricity or mobile signal.
Eventually spoke to a human who said whole area was out, that's comforting in a way knowing it was not just us.
As I am sending this you know electricity is back.

Brenda Good! You must have been reconnected. I know just how frustrating it is to be cut off and not have a soul to ask why and when will stuff be restored. You had every right to rant. My father used to mutter yell "blithering idiots!" Not to anyone in particular...but it made him feel a whole lot better for blasting off.

My sister used to help out in a elderly persons residential home. There were two ladies who shared a room yet never could be half decent with each other. They enjoyed bickering. There was an occasion when my sister mixed up their respective dentures. When she realised her mistake, she daren't own up (for fear of a bun fight). She therefore waited until the ladies were asleep and, after cleaning said dentures, she swapped them over.

dusty how are you feeling today? When do you hope to have your husband home again? I was so sorry to hear that you returned to find an awful mess that needed to be cleaned up. Do you have any family living close by? I do hope that you are not alone.

Love the teeth cleaning story. Kitty I wish you knew my friend, she had the lost teeth problem recently. Although at the moment she is having a little break from training up the staff, as her mum broke her hip the other day. She will be in hospital for two weeks. She tells me most days what is going on, and it may sound odd but I like to hear what she is going through because my own mother may be in the same position before too long. She is currently living in her mum's house to be nearer the home, so I can stay in hers to visit mine.

One minute the hail beats down from a leaden sky and then the sun shines. The waves are massive. No ferries operating today. Rory has made the effort to peer through the door, after which, he beat a very hasty retreat to settle on my his tartan rug on my his comfortable chair.

Dusty what a shock. Hope you've recovered a bit now. I am useless. Pass out at the first sight of blood usually. I doubt I'd have coped as well as you.
