Many years ago, during the first few years we were married, we used to have a new electric cooker every 5 years, and always chose a time to buy when they were giving something away. One time it was a large box of assorted crystal wine glasses, from really tiny one mouthful size up to tall champagne glasses. We got them around 1973, and still have a few left, the ones that didn`t get used, the tiny ones and some small wine glasses. The make, I think, was Champagne, and they`re very pretty.
I`ve also got 4 tea towels and a plastic kitchen scale that I got free from Big D teabags after saving up coupons, they date from around the mid 80s.

I got some free teaspoons with, I think, soap powder. They were very small and shallow, and just right for weaning my first baby. I've still got one. I use it as an egg spoon.

I wish you could buy small teaspoons for eating boiled eggs. Ordinary size ones are too big to go in the egg.

A new cooker every five years!!!

I think I've only ever had three in forty years.

We have cutlery that we collected with petrol coupons in the early 1970s. Still in everyday use. Not free but I am still using Tupperware that I had when we first married 38 years ago and some that my Mum bought in the early 1960s.

I also use some wonderful sturdy cake tins that belonged to my Grandmother which must date back to at least 1940s.. They were free to me.

I have an orange peeler which was a 'prize' from a Tupperware party about 40 years ago. Two years ago I lost it only for it to be dug out of the compost heap earlier this year. I was thrilled to have it back as it does a very good job.
I could never afford Tupperware but went to the parties to make up numbers for friends who hosted the party as their 'gift' was dependent on the number of people there.

A set of steak knives given to me when I hosted a gathering for a demonstration of pots and pans -must have been late seventies - still got the knives and they go in the dishwasher too.

I have a lovely little 'willy' fridge magnet given to me as a freebie at an Ann Summers party many years ago.

Since I became a gran, though, it's had to be consigned to the back of the kitchen bits and bobs drawer...

Jingl Have you tried using a coffee spoon for your egg? The bowl part is usually smaller than a teaspoon's.

I still have a plastic tulip free with soap powder in either the 50's or 60's

I still have Esso champagne flutes from at least 30 years ago.

I still have half a dozen dessert spoons which my Mum got by saving tokens from Kellogg's Corn Flakes in the 1960's. i used to save the tops off Brooke Bond Choicest Tea for goods and still have a couple of bath towels in use The quality of freebies 30 years ago was far superior to any freebies available these days

Have you thought of donating your tulip to a museum Brendawymms? They must be a great rarity now ! They were from Daz or Omo I think and daffodils were also available. Does it still have pride of place ??

Some wooden handled knives and forks (more forks than knives now!) from Green Shield stamps.

I got my ironing board with Green Shield stamps in the late 1960s/early 1970s. Still does the job!

Come to think of it, I got my iron at Argos with Nectar points.

I still have a set of stainless steel all-in-one spoon/forks with one straight edge from Vesta curries in the sixties. They come out when we have a particularly sticky cake, very useful.

I have 6 place settings of stainless steel cutlery from Kelloggs, collected in the 60s, still going strong.
