When I was emptying the dishwasher today I returned to the cupboard a wine glass which was one of many I got free at the petrol station years ago.

What freebies have you still got?

I agree - it seems rather thin and 'tinny' these days.

Although I did buy some stainless steel cutlery sets for my GDs a couple of years ago which were wonderful quality, so I suppose it depends where you buy and what you pay...

I received a slow cooker free with my first catalogue order over 40 years ago and still use it regularly.

I nearly forgot! In 1963/4 Fairy Liquid gave away Wades Wimsey kittens and bush babies, selotaped to the bottles. The kittens were first, and the TV ad used to be "Pssst, do you want a kitten?" I`ve still got them all, up on my little display shelves.
Ana, we`d get the cooker on HP, paid over 4 years on our electric quarterly bill, then when paid for we`d keep it a year then start again. That all came to an end in the mid 70s when we moved over here and changed to gas, but it was the only real extravagance we had.

I have a very vague recollection of saving PG tips coupons (from the loose tea in square tall box) im sure you used to get in the pictures free with the token hmm and also used to get a picture card inside the box .

A set of coasters from Woman and Home many years ago. They have vintage magazine covers on and are now very tatty looking but we still use them every day.

I have a pretty tin that stands on my dressing table and contains cotton wool. It dates to about 1966 and I think came with a packet of Daz. I also have a First Aid kit that I got at much the same time by collecting wrappers from Dixcel loo paper.

A step stool with cigarette coupons many moons ago - I gave up smoking 35 years ago and it was long before that. They are paint spattered but still very sturdy and in regular use.

We kitted out most of our first kitchen with Kensitas coupons, we still have the Kenwood Chef.

Still have two steak knives and forks from Green Shield stamps - from forty odd years ago.

When we bought our first colour TV back in the 70s it came with a free record player. Our sons loved putting their records on and joining in with the songs. It still works and we've still got the children's records stored away somewhere. No iTunes in those days!

2 x small ovenproof dishes from petrol station coupons, still in use on our narrowboat. Perfect apple crumble for two size! Also still have some glasses from same source

2 x blue glasses given away with petrol they have a bubble pattern all over and are quite awful really but I just can't throw them out for some reason they are stored right at the back of the cupboard out of sight.
