Soutra I hope that all the kind thoughts that are coming your way may help you (just a little). It was a tough, heart-wrenching decision for anyone to have to make. I am totally on your side. May I please echo Lona's wish that your daughter and son-in-law find, and hold on to, peace of mind.

It has been a misty, muggy day in bonnie Kintyre. We received a few images of Torben having fun with his pals in the fallen leaves.

I shall call in tomorrow afternoon. I have nothing to add to all the above messages. It is a sad day when one of our Granspals has so much pain to deal with.

Soutra A very difficult decision for your daughter and son-in-law to have had to make. It must be heart breaking for you all.

Just staggering in to say hello to all you dear kitcheners. It was hard to leave my darling sister this morning but I am now back home in Malta. DH is not too good. Went for his CT scan today so we await the results with trepidation.

My heart goes out to Soutra and her family. Such a hard decision for anyone to make, but a brave one. (((Hugs))) and

I came here to moan about the state of my kitchen whilst DD is in cake mode but it's really of no matter. I'll leave some sticky toffee cake with salted caramel buttercream on the table - it has absolutely NO calories.

Bella group hugs manage to cover Malta too. Sorry your DH not too good but at least you are home now which must cheer him. Sleep tight

Oooh Kittylester that does sound delicious. Salted caramel buttercream, wow. I've been cooking free-from things all week for various family members, it will be wonderful to eat proper cake. They can't help it though, they would prefer your cake too if they could. for the thought

Icya, virtual cake has no 'baddies' at all. My life is ruled by Freefrom products too but DD has had an order for a GF wedding cake so I'll be sampling that for her . The buttercream is Gf!

Mm, non-dairy buttercream just doesn't have quite the same ring. Good luck to your DD, my Sainted Sister made my DD a 3 layer cake for her wedding in various combinations to avoid gluten, dairy and egg, luckily not all required in the same layer. Me, I'll eat any cake going

Into the kitchen she blows on a mighty gust of westerly wind...helloooooooooo! So sorry to be late in wishing you all what I hope will be a peaceful Friday evening. Today I had an appointment with the GP in his Southend surgery. That's the Mull of Kintyre Southend and not the Essex Southend...yet the length of the journey seemed to be far enough for us to reach Essex [possibly by suppertime, as MacSporran almost got us well and truly lost!] Hey ho. GP was amazed by the progress wrought by the steroid injection. I can truthfully tell you that it has worked wonders. Following the injection, I had just two days of niggly pain after which I was aware that not only was the pain disappearing but that I had marvellous full use of my arm for the first time in yonks.

It's good to have you back with us dear Bella. It must have been a wrench to have to leave your sister. In your absence your husband will have missed you so. Yet more waiting for results...bless you both.

I almost forgot to mention that during the visit to the Southend surgery we parked right beside the famous Tea Rooms. I know that a few of my Granspals have mentioned visiting and enjoying the amazing home-made cakes and such. We popped in for coffee and we sampled the most delicious millionaire's shortbread we've ever tasted. The lady who owns the café is delightful. We mentioned that a few friends had recommended her. Her cake menu is to die for. No such thing as calorie free, unlike those baked by our pals. After a drive along the long and winding road that leads to the misty Mull of Kintyre, it was easy to imagine Paul MacCartney being inspired to compose his famous song. The tune is going round and round in my head. I shall drive myself potty attempting to forget it.

After a light lunch in the Royal, we did the Tesco shop and arrived home to an everso slightly miffed Rory. Well, his lunch was two hours overdue. Such a stressful morning he'd had...fast asleep on his tartan rug on his chaise...with his dish standing empty!

Bella I am so sorry to hear that your DH is not very well at present. It must have been a wrench leaving your sister.

soop delighted to hear that the steroid injection worked. Your GP was fortunate enough to hit the spot and with luck you will not be returning for a repeat injection for a few months.

That poor maligned cat- I am speechless re his recent treatment! Have you told him how lucky he is to receive lunch, albeit 2 hours late?

I had cheese and an apple for lunch and starving Tara licked the plate clean of the cheese afterwards. There is nothing that she will not try, provided it is not in her bowl.

soop, I so glad the injection has helped. Pain is so draining! Zippity doo dah, zippy aye-ay (or however it goes) Love to MacS too. I'm sure he never really gets lost while driving .

I was pretty sure you would be amazed with the results of your injection*soop*. Pleased to hear it. I must have been one of the lucky ones as it was 2 years before I needed another two injections.

Good to have you back Bella. It must have been so hard to leave your sister but your DH will be delighted to have you home again. Hope the scan results are in his favour. Also hope you can relax a bit this weekend and look after yourself too.

kitty, I only took one slice of cake, honestly! I am enjoying it at the moment with a mug of hot chocolate. Yum.

Im so pleased that your injection worked Soop, I had them for frozen shoulder some years ago, and they worked wonders, I`m going back, hopefully on Monday, for, hopefully, more of the same. All the best to you and McSporran.
I`m glad you enjoyed your taste of Frances`s cooking at the tea rooms, if you fat the chance to try, her mince and tatties are great, and her chocolate cake, MMMMMMM!!!!

Right! Now I've a confession to make. You lovely lot must have noticed that I am fast forgetting how to punctuate. It's a fact that embarrasses me deeply. For some time I've had no idea how to do such a simple everyday task. At one time I was a proof reader in the sales promotion department of Avon Cosmetics HQ. Along with one other proof reader, it was my job to verify all the brochure copy...I had no qualms way back then. Now I hesitate to write the simplest of sentences. Also, I sit looking at common every day words and realise that I'm not certain that I've spelt them correctly. Is it an age-related disorder? Did the fall and bang on my head cause the problem? Because we all get along so well and accept each other warts 'n' all, I hope that you will bear with me and take a deep breath and carry on reading regardless.

Been out spiraea and grey sallow bashing this morning. Got my alligator saw stuck and had to ask MrB to come and help get it out of the wood. He thinks I'm clearing too much but both those species are like rhododendron ponticum and put out runner roots. In short, they are invasive if not kept in check. Actually, (shhh!) I think MrB just wants a garden that doesn't need any attention . If he lived here on his own the garden would revert to forest in no time.

Something neither I or DH ever had to think about before either soop. Now however, I merrily post something off then when I look at it I think 'oh help'! Occasionally, DH and I also write a word then think it just doesn't 'look' correct. Crosswords are taking a bit longer these days

I'm assuming it is another one of those age things and something that doesn't bother me whether I or anyone else makes an error.

Let's leave it to Pedants Corner where it is acceptable to have a vent about poor grammer etc.
