'Bo Peeps Arms' (formerly Pete's Bar) reopening night

Pete's old place has been empty for a while now but a few of us 'regulars' slipped down the lane one night, prised away a few planks holding the door on, and are now squatting in the public bar.

The tea-lights add an interesting 'dimension' to the bar (plus magically erase wrinklesgrin).

It needs cleaning up a bit - so laydees come along, bring rags/buckets/mops - and whatever else you can lay your mitts on to swab the decks down. I've brought a box of Country Manor perry - so bring your own tin mugs and we'll get started. The planned Grand Opening Night is tomorrow…so someone will need to nip down to the shop and get in a few bottles. Glam are you okay with rustling up some sausages rolls? you could put a bit of that green stuff (parsley?) on them to make them look posh…..

MrsPickle Wed 06-Aug-14 22:39:49

That's us sorted for Sunday morning then.

boheminan Wed 06-Aug-14 22:48:10

Right everybody, settle down. We're just about to begin Miss Maniacs quiz - the answer to which every question is 'dog'. WILL SOMEBODY TURN THE BLOODY JUKE BOX DOWN, I CAN'T HEAR THE QUESTIONS

MrsPickle Wed 06-Aug-14 22:59:48

Well, the answer to every question is close to a dog's heart, certainly.

boheminan Wed 06-Aug-14 23:03:26

I know, I know - Food?

merlotgran Wed 06-Aug-14 23:03:52

Get on with it or I'll let the eels out of the bucket!

boheminan Wed 06-Aug-14 23:12:01

Right merlot as you asked so nicelygrin. THE QUIZ (MrsP hurry up - the regulars are getting restless)

boheminan Wed 06-Aug-14 23:32:23

Another quiet night. Think I might have to shut up shop :-(

ninathenana Thu 07-Aug-14 06:42:15

Oh bo don't do that I've really enjoyed standing outside with my nose pressed up against the window watching the goings on inside. Can I request a stool, or better still a remodel to include lowering the windows.
BTW I know a good window cleaner......I think you need one .

glammanana Thu 07-Aug-14 09:41:27

bo don't think about closing mi dear, maybe just a mid week lull we can have a party night at the week-end and invite some of the customers from the Dirty Duck they may enjoy the ambiance of a select establishment like yours.nina my window cleaner is looking for some new business his name is sinbad he can only cleans portholes.grin
I've done the catering for to-night so I hope people turn up if not bo you and me will be eating sausage rolls and quiche all week.

Pete Thu 07-Aug-14 10:34:25

Just popped in to collect a few treasured items....my 'long service award' tankard from Lil my dart board and tiddly-winks.

I've fell on hard times and having to doss in a shed in the top field.......so I've also taken me double hammock and left an iou for the barrel of beer.

Bottoms up. grin

boheminan Thu 07-Aug-14 11:25:13

PETEgrin pleeease come back. You can kip behind the bar - I'm sure your Laydees will see you're ok and take it in turns to swing your hammock for you

glammanana Thu 07-Aug-14 15:45:04

Just missed you Pete you will always find a pie & a pint waiting here for you, can't think why you wanted the hammock did you see the massive hole in the bottom of it grin Speak to you soon take care in the shed, you could be visited by all sorts of strange people,is that a pig I hear you have given a home to ? don't tell the manager from the Dirty Duck his has gone walkabout.

sparkygran Thu 07-Aug-14 15:54:09

Pl don`t close bo I`ve just been recovering from my first visit and all that piano playing tired me out. Could I drop by with some prawn cocktails for tonights gathering. I put shredded lettuce at the bottom of glasses and serve with lemon slices so I do

boheminan Thu 07-Aug-14 18:16:02

G'evening Peepers.
nina. I thought you were the Ghost of Kathy from Withering Hides last night, what with the wind, sheep and pig making funny noises outside. Was that you screeching in a very high voice "Heathcliffe, it's me, Kathy, I've come home tonight"? No thank you, I don't need a window cleaner, the windows are still painted over from the war, I just couldn't be arsed bothered to scrape it off (there may be some grime, but it saves on having to fork out for curtainsgrin.

Laydees - Pete popped in today. He says he'll come again when he hasn't any money, needs a pint and the Honesty Box needs emptying (which could mean quite a while).

sparky your prawn cocktails sound delightful - are they served with salad cream or a cherry on a stick?

For your entertainment tonight we have the telly on top of the mantlepiece working. it's only small (4" screen) and b/w but there's still enough room to get the whole cast of Eastenders in it.

Hope someone comes in tonight - it gets a bit lonely here in the middle of nowhere, and the Dirty Ducks got a bigger tellysad

sparkygran Thu 07-Aug-14 18:22:24

bo I`m quite shocked that it would be assumed that I would accompany my prawn cocktail with anything but mayonnaise. I could at a later date do cherries on a stick along with pineapple and cheese all stuck into a grapefruit resembling a hedgehog - failing that anyone up for roasted hedgehog - just saying

MrsPickle Thu 07-Aug-14 18:43:39

Miss M had apologised for the lack of quiz, but she is going to make it a regular Wednesday event.
She's been online and ordered the British Kennel club top dog quiz questions. Think she's barking.
Or is that me?

POGS Thu 07-Aug-14 19:17:42

glamma

I reported the Drunken Duck has had to close due to the success of Bo's, the pig is in pork scratching heaven. Unless he really is in the shed with Pete.confused

Hi Pete, your IOU's are worthless so I have left a tab behind the bar and I am sure we can have a monthly whip round to pay it off. smile

hildajenniJ Thu 07-Aug-14 19:32:27

Hello (popping head round door) I got lost last night, couldn't find the pub anywhere.(tablet froze then turned itsef off). I haven't brought the Wiser dog with me, she's 15 and not very well, off her food. I think a trip to the vet might be in order if she's no better tomorrow. Anyhow what's going on? Is there skittles in the back room? I'm no good at skittles but I like lawn bowls, they both involve balls, I should try harder at skittles. Sorry about the rapberry cidre ( it's cidre not cider) I drank it on the way. I've brought some crisps and a bottle of lemonade if they're any good. I can't stsy long. Got to get up for work at 03.00 in the morning, so must have an early night.

boheminan Thu 07-Aug-14 20:31:53

hilda thank you for the crisps and lemonade, they'll keep Pete going for a couple of days. What sort of work involves getting up at 3.00amhmm? Mind you, I suppose that's generally about the time things start waking up heregrin

boheminan Fri 08-Aug-14 15:24:03

Friday night - will there be a customer tonighthmm

glammanana Fri 08-Aug-14 15:32:49

bo I'm often up at 3am but just to the call of nature don't you know,I wonder if that red light hanging outside has anything to do with your noctural visitors hmm
I heard quite a bit of snoring last night on my way home through the fields don't know if it was pete or the missing pig or it just could have been one of the firemen having a nap between shifts.
There are some goodies for collection for to-night I won't be around but don't want any unhappy clients so if anyone is passing New Brighton call in and pick up a tin of sausage rolls and some chicken curry & rice. (been mrs goodwife to-day) grin

MrsPickle Fri 08-Aug-14 19:23:23

Miss M and I cannot be there this weekend, as we are in a corner of a field somewhere on Anglesey. Even if I cycle like Wiggo, I can't make it ....
Sorry.

merlotgran Fri 08-Aug-14 19:30:01

Good luck, MrsP. Watch out for Bertha

Don't let the quiz sheets get wet!

rosequartz Fri 08-Aug-14 19:42:15

I was going to bring some very nice Australian wine, but having started the thread about producing more of our own food, I suppose I must include wine in that as well as food, so here is some lovely wine from a vineyard not far from me wine - bottles full, not glasses! three choirs sorry, three cheers, didn't mean to advertise blush

boheminan Fri 08-Aug-14 19:51:35

Good evening peepers. You may enter - in an orderly manner pleeease - no rushing the door.
Tonight is whine wine night (kicking off at 9.00). Before that, for your delight we have telly watching, with tiddlywinks and shove halfpenny on the side.
