'Bo Peeps Arms' (formerly Pete's Bar) reopening night

Pete's old place has been empty for a while now but a few of us 'regulars' slipped down the lane one night, prised away a few planks holding the door on, and are now squatting in the public bar.

The tea-lights add an interesting 'dimension' to the bar (plus magically erase wrinklesgrin).

It needs cleaning up a bit - so laydees come along, bring rags/buckets/mops - and whatever else you can lay your mitts on to swab the decks down. I've brought a box of Country Manor perry - so bring your own tin mugs and we'll get started. The planned Grand Opening Night is tomorrow…so someone will need to nip down to the shop and get in a few bottles. Glam are you okay with rustling up some sausages rolls? you could put a bit of that green stuff (parsley?) on them to make them look posh…..

rosequartz Fri 08-Aug-14 19:53:37

9.00? I've already had half of one of my bottles while I was waiting in the queue!

boheminan Fri 08-Aug-14 20:18:20

Weeellll rosequartz I will bend the rules a bit.

"FORM AN ORDERLY QUEUE LAYDEES". Hang on, there's something sticking behind the door - a pigs trotter?

Okay - Leave your bottles on the bar as you come in. Who's up for the shove halfpenny marathon?

rosequartz Fri 08-Aug-14 20:21:04

Raring to go! Watch out, elbows at the ready!

rosesarered Fri 08-Aug-14 20:35:06

Hi folks, can I come in? Only just realised this pub is open, have you got Aunt Sally here, we could have a game.Large G&T please Bo I have had a tiring day out in the back yard with my mangle[well, the laundry doesn't do itself.]I must say the bar looks very pretty with all the decorative cockle shells and pigs feet scattered around, very fetching.Any pasties going spare?

rosequartz Fri 08-Aug-14 20:38:04

Here you are. Proper Cornish ones made in Devon, roses grin

Ana Fri 08-Aug-14 20:44:27

Blimey! There was never a queue when Pete was in charge (well, once there was, but only to get out through the privy window when we were raided because of gramps' 'herb patch' in the back...)

I must admit I'm missing the hammock - can't we all chip in and get a new one?

boheminan Fri 08-Aug-14 20:50:47

Due to all the halfpennies being shoved in the Honesty box, we'll have to use buttons insteadgrin anyone got any spare buttons? There's a shortage of tiddlers as well.
Aunt Sally roses? Now you're talking gal. Haven't got a pitch out the back, but I think the hallway inside will be long enough, it could also, with a few adjustments, double up as a skittle alley, it's on a bit of a slopegrin

boheminan Fri 08-Aug-14 20:59:36

Ana a new hammock?shock There's plenty of blankets and bailing twine in the barn to make onegrin. It'll have to be a very long hammock though, as one of the apple trees got blown over in the Big Storm last month, so there's only one tree and a telegraph pole left in the Beer Garden (10 acre field) and they're either side of the field

Ana Fri 08-Aug-14 21:28:24

Goodess, have we changed location as well as name?? The Beer Garden never measured more than five by five in the old days...sigh. I do hope you haven't encroached upon the 7 Acre Wood to extend your peripheries - there could be repercussions!

Ana Fri 08-Aug-14 21:29:23

Hundred Acres, I meant! grin

Ana Fri 08-Aug-14 21:30:22

In fact, Hundred Acre Wood hmm Gah!

boheminan Fri 08-Aug-14 23:44:53

Ana Did you start on the Old Peculiar earlyhmm

papaoscar Sat 09-Aug-14 15:39:23

Yes, I managed to lay my hands on the last few Old Peculiers at Grabbits supermarket and steam bath last week, thus narrowly avoiding several beckoning Bishop's Fingers. A good day indeed! Any chance of some Old P on tap in future, Bo?

Nonu Sat 09-Aug-14 15:51:50

So pleased you posted PAPA, BISHOPS FINGER happen to be Mr N"s tipple of choice.

I will send him down to" Grabbits " poste haste to pick them up. Only thing that does worry me slightly, will he have to get involved in STEAM BATH malarkey. Really don"t think it would be his THING.

grin

glammanana Sat 09-Aug-14 17:37:00

bo quite a few guest ales available at our local at the moment I'll send the rep around to see you, you may be able to do a deal with him I've been told he is very friendly towards landladies grin

boheminan Sat 09-Aug-14 18:04:18

I'm off to the Annual Vampire Ball tonight. I'm leaving at 11.59pm, so may not be around this evening. I'll leave the key under the back door mat..the beers under the bar and the Honesty Box is in the ladies toilet.

papaoscar Sat 09-Aug-14 22:25:01

Nonu, have no fears about Mr N's thing at the steam bath. The staff there are very discrete and specially trained to assist customers seeking unusual commodities. Perhaps in the meantime a Bombardier or Speckled Hen or two might help.

Ana Sat 09-Aug-14 22:30:24

grin papaoscar!

Nonu Sun 10-Aug-14 10:21:32

PAPA

We laughed !! A Lot !!!

smile

papaoscar Sun 10-Aug-14 10:36:19

I'm wondering what has happened to our extinguished host Bo at the Vampire Ball last night. Did he bite off more than than he could chew, or was the biter bit? Should we be organising a mountain rescue team to scour the Transylvanian Alps in search of broken broomsticks? If we set off now we could be there next Friday. Any volunteers before we raid the honesty box?

Nonu Sun 10-Aug-14 10:50:21

Well I would volunteer, but today I am washing my hair.

I am sure will be okay, she seems to have all her ducks in a row, after all she set up this bar and that takes some doing , what with one thing and another[naming no names , you understand !]

Happy day !
grin

glammanana Sun 10-Aug-14 13:16:24

I don't mind volunteering to go and check out the Alps but I must insist on a trusty St Bernard complete with a generous supply of Brandy just for medicinal purposes of course.grinps honesty box looks a bit thin on the ground this morning she will go mad when she checks it,I'm keeping out of her way could be some barring coming up hmm
Just off to pack my snow shoes and skies.grin

boheminan Sun 10-Aug-14 18:43:02

G'evening all. Back from the Vampire's Ball.

Hopefully there will be black pudding on the menu tonight? something I can get my bloody teeth into?

Strange place the Alps. I almost got knocked over by some woman taking her dog for a walk on the mountain - well, I wasn't sure if it was a dog or donkey - blooming great hairy thing and bless it, it was carrying its owners brandy bottle, tied round its neck (with what looked strangely like bailing twinegrin.

Right! I'd better go and count out the Honesty Box

Ana Sun 10-Aug-14 18:50:56

Hide, everyone...!shock

12Michael Sun 10-Aug-14 18:59:56

I had 10 different beers from 10 brewerys and 8 were new, one was very poor beer quality , beer needed some filings in it to brighten it up.
Is this pub in the Good Beer Guide.
