Surely it depends on the circumstances? As with anything start with a neutral attitude and adjust to circumstances as you go along. All of us, I think, make misjudgements. I have trusted the untrustworthy in the past and had doubts about those of whose sterling qualities I was later convinced.
Actually Nonnie being nice to unpleasant people is a brilliant tactic, It usually irritates them beyond measure as what they want you to do more than anything is loose your cool or get upset so that they can feel superior and crow over you. I have an acquaintance, I have known her for nearly 40 years. We both loathe each other, but in all those years we have never once exchanged a bad word. When we meet, which is as little as possible, we are unfailingly polite and pleasant to each other. Her dislike of me is far better known than my feelings for her. My public attitude to her is of indulgent understanding, which puts other peoples sympathies with me!!
Angela Rayner is a scrounger, grifter and shameless hypocrite.
Am I just being impatient and mean? New PM

Flicketyb, I know just what you mean. They are friendly like that here too in N Wales Nonnie - such a contrast to where I lived before.
