In a weird sort of way...

Very boring-I had thunder and lightning explained to me by my DF who wouldn't let me have The Bunty, I had to have Look and Learn if IT wanted a comic. Poor excuse if you ask me

If I wanted a comic. Look and Learn was a poor excuse for a comic is what I should have said.

I've got astrophobia and wish I didn't. I would like to be able to enjoy storms like you lot do. It must be spectacular to watch the lightning.
But I have had it all my life, and the only treatment is exposure to storms!
The very thought makes me want to hide in the wardrobe.

I remember a sudden violent storm erupting one day many years ago when I was working in an office in a very nice old building. Desks were large and randomly spaced. There was an enormous clap of thunder and my colleague sitting with her back to the french doors leapt right over her desk and ran to cower in the corridor. Quite an athletic feat!

It's amazing what fear can do, rosequartz. What a leap!
Only recently have I learned that my fear of thunder and lightning is apparently called Astrophobia these days.

I'm so glad we didn't heed the weather forecast and cancel DGS3's birthday sleepover. It was hot and humid but sunny and no storms. A very successful night with a great barbecue cooked by DD's OH.

Not at all henetha. My husband and I were holidaying in Spain one year when there was the most fabulous thunder and lightning (note spelling all you pedants) storm. We were staying in a large villa and went out onto the patio to watch the 'light show'. Massive claps of thunder and the most amazing fork lightning. When it all calmed down, we went back inside to make a cup of tea - and found that the lightning must have struck the iron bars on the windows, entered the kitchen and cracked all the tiles on the floor in a jagged line!

Shall I tell you what I secretly really think? I think those of us who suffer from Astrophobia are sane and normal, and those who love it are all loopy!
Lightning kills thousands of people each year all around the world. One thousand in America alone. There is very good reason to fear it!!!!

Oooh, currently there are rumblings again!

It's hot, humid and as I look out of my home "office" window not a branch not a leaf is stirring. The birds have gone quiet, even the collared doves (or they might be pigeons, but you know the ones I mean, hopefully) have stopped their monotonous cooing.

Will it break, with some much needed rain and a clearing of the air, or will it pass on.......

I caught a programme on the radio this morning as I was driving - it was about tornados in America and they interviewed a lady who said that they all dashed to their cellar, grabbing their important belongings: "our passports and our firearms." Sigh

Like you phoenix I like a good storm, and we have had a couple here in the last week.Not so fun if for any reason you are out in it of course. Always thought it wonderful to see nature doing it's stuff, fascinating.

Rumblings in my corner of Devon too phoenix. My grandson and I scurried home from the cinema (note: should he ever have a dragon he now knows how to train it ) listening to thunder and expecting a deluge all the way, but made it home without a drop of rain falling. I do hope it rains because I'm on allotment watering duty tomorrow morning and I'd really rather have an extra hour in bed.

Aah ga if you've got it too, then it could be unlikely that we both get rain.

There is a slight breeze now, I see some movement in the trees. Still not a peep from the birds though.
