Touched down once at the airport en route to NI.

SIL loved going there for holidays, but I have never been. Perhaps Holly will extol its virtues for us ?

DD2 gets really exited about thunderstorms and her attitude has made me more relaxed when they occur.
Had a storm last night which woke me. Went to the loo to discover we had no water but it had come back in the morning.
Very pretty sunset has now changed to a deep indigo sky with the odd flash and thunder is a-rumbling.
It's going to be a bumpy night!

Someone on a radio phone-in today all breathlessly excited because she had seen forked lightning - first time ever in the UK and she is 47!

We have had loads, perhaps she never had a decent view before! I was woken by thunder through the night, but no rain. The sky though was blood red, really peculiar. The whole room shone red for ages at around 5am. By 9am it was almost 26C so we gave in and cleared off to the beach. Now it's too hot to go to bed, it's still 24C.

I can remember 35 years ago thinking that 16C was incredibly hot at night in this country.

Don't know which keeps me awake more, the heat or the hum of a fan.
The storms may just miss us tonight.

I remember spectacular thunder storms when I was younger, after hot July days. Wonderful, unless you are out in it.

Love the Isle of Man. People who live there always seem to call it the Island. Sounds very mysterious !

I looked at the brown, dry patches on the lawn last night, dragged the hose pipe up the garden and set the sprinkler to do its to-ing and fro-ing (or toing and froing whichever you prefer) for over an hour. Today, it has rained non-stop!

I apologise for misspelling a word - I hadn't realised all these years that I have been misspelling it. I shall have to return the favour each time I see a mistake on GN by those who prefer to correct the mistakes of others (considered very bad forum etiquette btw)

@gagagran - The thunder made me think of the Blitz too - only in my case it was a memory of huddling in the cellar at my grandmother's along with - I don't know who they were or where they came from, but there were other people there, in the dark. Every time a bomb went off, one woman would say 'Ooh,. that's done it...' Every time...

After last nights thunder etc. I was about to tell my grandson that it was God having his coal delivered, when my daughter said that it would confuse him.
