So what are you going to do in the evenings while the football is on>

Watch the football so I have something to talk to my son and grandson about. That's all they'll talk about for the next few weeks.

The football is only on one channel at a time as far as I know. I have plenty of other channels and that's just the free to air ones.

I detest football and all the media frenzy about it. Fortunately, Theseus, although a fan of many sports (sigh) doesn't care that much for football, so I'll be spared all the screaming commentaries and extra hype.

It's the local Triathlon this weekend, and DS2 and DDiL are taking part, Theseus is involved in organising it, so the DGC (all six!) and I will go to the beach.

I shall read, use Netflix and DVDs. Don't care for Twix, but like the white wine...

I'm aware that some football is being played somewhere, mainly because of it being mentioned on gransnet. My evenings while this football is apparently on the telly will be no different from usual. I'll be doing what I usually do in the evenings, which doesn't include watching telly.

I do not detest football. It's a good game. Some of my Cubs (girls and boys) have very good football skills. I'ts good to see their dedication and enthusiasm.

Northern Exposure is utterly delightful. Just went on one series too long.
I don't detest football, it is good exercise for those who participate, but watching them do it I find as gripping as watching someone having a nice read. Looking forward to the other sporting highlights - tour de france and commonwealth athletics.

There is also the Cricket, which no-one seems to appreciated. I just love it, and although we do can't watch it live, we catch up with an hour of it on Chanel 5 in the evening. Spent many happy your as a child with my dad watching the locals in the park, and later was pleased to learn how to score for my husband's team. A nice gentle afternoon's activity.

Nothing against football, just not interested so we will just go on as normal.

This is the time of year for cricket, tennis, the Open. Football occupies the rest of the year to a fault. Give it a rest, PLEASE!

As I live alone, it will make no difference to me. I don't watch sport. If the TV schedules are rubbish, then I have quite a few DVDs I need to watch, plus my Kindle is calling me!!

|Yes, we will be watching SOME football, thankfully DH is selective to what games he wants to see, I will be feeding the freezer while this excitement is on............ but mention Wimbledon and I will be glued to the box, that is where all the hard work of feeding said freezer comes in to play!

Watching Wimbledon for two weeks and ignoring anything to do with football on radio or tv

Won't make much difference to us. DH has no interest in watching any kind of sport and neither have I, to be honest we have rather lost interest in any television at the moment. Nothing on that really interests us.

It is something we do when we are under the weather or very, very tired.

As the builders will be finished by Monday, i shall spend the summer evenings repairing the damage to the garden due to piles of building materials ( killed lawn) and weed filled flower beds ( cant reach them at mo). So half an hour valiant efforts with much harrumphing and waving about of gardening gloves/secateurs etc to set the scene, then into a hidden corner with a glass of cold white or a Pimms. Anyone here tried the lovely new blackberry and elderflower one? lovely with lemonade and heaps of ice.

I won't be anywhere near it tonight as I have to go to my first ever hen night, clubbing and all that it entails. Including a cross the harbour ferry trip.
Football suddenly seems attractive.

The same as usual, reading and crafting. Hopefully enjoying the garden at the same time. I don't watch that much tv. and certainly not sports of any kind.

Mind you, just turned over to BBC one for the news and Tierri Henri is part of the team in the studio however her spells himself. That accent !!!

I find it hard to watch the games on ITV because the pundits are just rubbish but the team in the BBC studio is brilliant and the commentary both interesting and funny.

My GD1 will be glued to the summaries if Thierry Henry is involved. She became an Arsenal supporter just for him! And she's a Manchester girl!

I have been recording favourite films for a year so I have something to watch. But I usually find myself on the internet in the garden listening to the neighbours watching the game.

Can anyone tell me why the men in our local supermarket are all wearing England shirts. I can understand they are supporters but how on earth can it make a difference to the players who cant see what anyone is wearing, the same with flags in windows etc. Also as I've asked before why do men wear their supporters shirts to watch the match on t.v. ???

Silverfish - that behaviour happens the world over in countries that love their football. In Spain, you'll find even the police are standing outside the cafes watching the football

It's just symbolic support and loyalty I suppose.
