As an aside my son was one of about 20 kids who won a writing competition to be taught at Eton for 2 weeks. My excitement faded when we saw the conditions they slept in - a hostel for down and outs would have been better. He did have a great time there though.

I used to like Terence Stamp too, come to think of it, Richard Armitage is a younger version of him, which would explain it. I have a thing for very dark men with piercing blue eyes.

Jasper Carrott was on holiday in the same hotel as us in Jersey. He was so rude and full of his own self importance. I was told by staff he wanted to be left alone and not bothered by others. Well I was more than happy to ignore him.

NanKate - isn't he just. The first time I saw him was around 30 years ago when he was playing a charity match for the Lords Taveners and my friend and I had a photo taken with him (I used to love his comedy back then) and he was very friendly. Then, about 10 or so years ago, he was on the same flight as my daughter and I when we were coming back to the Island from Birmingham. We didn't see him until we went to baggage reclaim. My daughter grinned and whispered to me 'there's Jasper Carrott' - we both looked and grinned at him and the look he gave us - if looks could kill we'd both have been dead there and then. Put me right off him.

numberplease - I don't like Des at all. My family took me to a dinner and dance (for families) one evening and Des O was the guest of honour (it was a charity event). My cousin and I (we would have been about 8 years old or so) went over to ask for his autograph - he shooed us away and told us not to bother him. My mum stopped watching any of his shows after that - I bet that taught him

Oh, my love for Terence Stamp got me through the tough days of my GCE's - he was kind enough to send me a signed photograph which I stuck on the inside of my desk lid at school, then some blighter pinched it! Nowadays I like a man with a nice voice, so I suppose it has to be Charles Dance, especially in "Game of Thrones"; fortunately, I saw him on a panel game and he has a good S.O.H. too. I used to love the actor who played the neighbour in "Ever Decreasing Circles" - just the right amount of charm, plus that lovely speaking voice. And of course, Mr Rickman has a wonderful speaking voice, too.
Robert Horton, I had quite forgotten him, but used to wait with baited breath for every episode of "Wagon Train"!

Hello, first post on gransnet. This thread has caught my imagination!! MY first crush, Gary Warren, Fron the Railway Children. Then I loved Donny Osmond, Then Rob Davies of Mud,the effeminate one! Then Barry Manilow, and whilst I was having babies in the eighties, I fancied Morton Harkett. In the noughties I've liked Chris Beardshaw, but since I saw Richard Armitage in North and South theres been no other to catch my eye. I'm sure I'm turning into the sort of older lady that says "ooooo young man" Wonder if thats the cause of my high blood pressure!
