soop It sounds as though the treatment is beginning to work for MacS, at last!
Thank you for your kind greetings, and three cheers for your dgd! She has done well!

Lona Fri 13-Jun-14 14:43:43

Bella I just want to give you a hug, my heart goes out to you. Enjoy what good times you can, and visit the kitchen often Xx

soop Fri 13-Jun-14 14:41:54

Oh, okay, as you're special Granspals, and he's out of sorts, I shall allow the pampering to continue. wink

soop Fri 13-Jun-14 14:40:03

MacSporran loves you all. blush hmm

soop Fri 13-Jun-14 14:38:57

Bellasnana Thank you for sharing the latest news with us. A wee break on Gozo will help you and your husband to relax and as you so rightly say, have happier thoughts. The lady from the hospice will certainly be of some comfort to you. I cannot believe that any one person can have so much heart breaking stress to deal with. I read your message to MacS and we had tears in our eyes. Our love to you and your family. flowers

Nelliemoser Fri 13-Jun-14 14:29:48

Bellasnan Enjoy the break you will have. flowers sunshine

Thank goodness there is someone nearby who you can talk to. It sounds like our Macmillan service who provide support for those affected by cancer.

annodomini Fri 13-Jun-14 13:57:29

Well done to your GD, soop. She must have inherited some of your talent.
Commisesrations, Bellasnana. You and DH have a hard road ahead. There's a limit to the support we can give, but we do what we can. flowers for you. ((((hugs)))) for you both.

Bellasnana Fri 13-Jun-14 13:41:33

Oh,and many congratulations to your granddaughter, soop. Obviously inherited her talents from you smile

Bellasnana Fri 13-Jun-14 13:40:03

So glad to have an up-to-date bulletin on the rash of MacSporran. The lack of news was a concern so I am pleased he has improved, but still intrigued to know exactly what caused such an awful reaction.

Happy birthday to Lona, hope you enjoy your day flowers

Latest news on DH. He starts chemo on 24th June. Has to stay in hospital for five days every three weeks for the treatment to be administered. This will go on for four months and then they will see if it has had any effect.

We are both quite miserable about it but have booked a couple of days in Gozo ( sister island to Malta) next week so he can swim, take it easy and try to think happier thoughts before the dreaded treatment commences.

I have had a nice lady from the Hospice come to visit me. I've done a lot of crying but she was very understanding and it helped to talk. Almost as good as having a granspal to talk to wink

Thank you all for your kind thoughts - it means a lot flowers

soop Fri 13-Jun-14 12:57:45

Rory knows that MacS is feeling out of sorts. I believe cats have a canny extra sense. Love to you all.

soop Fri 13-Jun-14 12:55:44

I really must share an upbeat message with you. Our eldest granddaughter, Hannah, has had her work displayed at London Metropolitan Uni' (Sir John Cass College of Art) and achieved 2nd place multi disciplinary award, a graphics tablet prize & nomination for Best in Show. This means that in September she will be presenting her work to a select group of would-be employers. We all know how hard she has worked both at Uni' and earning her keep by part-time managing a cup-cake business in London. sunshine

Ana Fri 13-Jun-14 12:36:40

I'd heard that it's a myth that you can't drink alcohol while taking antibotics, Charleygirl...

soop, so glad for you and MacSporran, it must seem as though there is light at the end of the tunnel at last!

Happy Birthday Lona - you don't look a day older! wink

Nelliemoser Fri 13-Jun-14 12:30:00

Charleygirl. Do not let Mr S lick Rory, or Rory lick Mr S? wink

Charleygirl Fri 13-Jun-14 12:23:47

It would appear that he is now taking the correct antibiotics and they have started to kick in. The microbiology result may be ready tomorrow but more likely to be Monday as I doubt if they are open on Sundays.

It sounds as though MacS is feeling better if he is reading the newspaper today. Rory loves him to bits but do not allow him to lick him as his tongue is full of bacteria! What a rough time he has had recently. I am sending flowers because MacS is not allowed wine with antibiotics.

dustyangel Fri 13-Jun-14 12:23:45

It sounds very promising*soop*, although the poor man must be very uncomfortable. At least the doctors are taking it seriously now.

I'll join you in a glass of Lona's champagne and toast "Saude", Good health to all.wine

Bella thinking of you. flowers

Elegran Fri 13-Jun-14 12:13:32

A bit of progress, that is good. Another few days and he will be back to normal (or almost!)

Nelliemoser Fri 13-Jun-14 12:10:22

Thanks for letting us know Soop. There have been a lot of very anxious Grans out here. I hope he continues to improve. flowers

annodomini Fri 13-Jun-14 12:09:56

He sounds as if he is responding, soop. I'm amazed that he can sit down in the circumstances! Let's hope the improvement continues. x x x

jollyg Fri 13-Jun-14 12:06:28

Positive news re GP may it continue

soop Fri 13-Jun-14 12:03:46

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR Lona...I trust that you will be pampered and made to feel special. I would so love a glass of bubbly and the cake sounds too good to be true. smileflowers

My thoughts are with Bellasnana...this is such a sad time and we kitcheners seem so far removed from her. If only we could pop in and put our arms around her.

MacSporran has read all your messages. He had to sit down to do so because there are so many kind and thoughtful Granspals rooting for him. He sends smiles and flowers to every one of you.

We saw the GP again at 9.15. Once again, MacS was stripped and lay on the couch for a thorough inspection of every nook and cranny. Bloods have been sent off to the lab. Still no feedback on the tissue sample. Rash is at it's peak...the area at the base of his spine (the site of whatever it was that triggered the problem) is less inflamed and the inflammation has gone about as far it can (over and in between his buttocks) for which he has two types of ointment. He has eaten breakfast. He is reading the paper...a first for some days. He still has a bit of a throbbing in the middle ear. Doc took a look. He's taking Paracetamol for the discomfort. Phew!

MiceElf many thanks for the lovely card and Bless you.

Charleygirl Fri 13-Jun-14 11:57:26

Happy birthday Lona just what I needed, it is yummy. So lucky that it is calorie free also.

newist Fri 13-Jun-14 11:32:07

I am also waiting and hoping for some good news from the soop household, I am finding it difficult to get those photos out of my mind.
Have a lovely day Lona, Happy Birthday. flowers

annodomini Fri 13-Jun-14 11:15:26

Love the magic cake, Lona. Happy birthday. It's a lovely day for it.

Ariadne Fri 13-Jun-14 11:02:59
