Had my annual blood tests today and a good chat with GP and he was really pleased with my cholesterol, total, good and bad. I told him I had come off the Simvastatin a year ago as my tests were really good- and he was really surprised, as he had never known anyone who had stopped and whose cholesterol had not gone back up.
I told him about this thread, and we discussed the bad press- and he said he despairs about it- and has lost several patients due to their reluctance to take statins due to said bad press, which he finds so tragic and frustrating. He also said he would probably be dead if he wasn't taking them, due to his heart problems. Just thought I'd share, even though I know some of you will never change your mind, whether you are at risk or not.
