I have just had a knock on the door from a mattress delivery man/salesman/con artist? telling me that he has just delivered a new vastly reduced in price mattress to my neighbour 2 doors along, and that he has some spare ones in his van. One side orthopaedic, the other normal, topped with 4" of memory foam. Double or King size. etc. etc. his blurb went on and on despite my protestations. He said he would be willing to give me a discount.
I am half inclined to race along to my neighbour to see if she has really paid that for a mattress, and if she really did send him along to ask all her neighbours if we wanted them to, as he said, but even so - I would be reluctant to spend that on a whole bed at the door, let alone just a mattress, even with 20% discount!
I can't help feeling it was all one big con. But I can't go along and ask her if she has just been conned.
