Arranging a Lasting Power of Attorney online
Is anyone else on their own this Easter? I've never spent Easter alone. Since DH died I've had the girls around, and last year, the first without DD1, I spent Easter Sunday with DD2 and the GC. Today they're flying off on a much deserved holiday, and as well as being consumed by anxiety about them travelling, I'm feeling very sad that I'll be alone. I know, I'm a wimp.

I shall be thinking of you and your sister tomorrow.
As you know, my best friend has breast cancer, and after a year of treatment she has her double mastectomy next Wednesday.
Tomorrow, she is hosting a lunch party for her departing breasts. She has invited all her family and some close friends, and she has bought a cake shaped like a pair of boobs!
She has confided to me that she is now feeling very apprehensive, but she is such a strong woman.
I'm feeling very emotional on her behalf.
I spent last week with my family and am now positively revelling in my aloneness! I've got a painting to finish; some sewing to do; a pile of ironing after my trip - the sun is shining and I've just walked 3 km through lanes dripping with white and mauve lilac, wisteria and flag irises.
Don't think about what might have been Dragonfly, the trick is to recall the stress of entertaining everyone at Easter and how knackering it was!
And we've got each other - we can talk all weekend!
Thank you Dragonfly, Nonu and Lona
and some more
for your friend. How courageous she sounds. Hope all goes well with her surgery.
Was told last week that for the first time ever I may be on my own this Christmas, actually trying NOT to think about it really. SIL only back in contact with his Mothers family in Paris since he met my DD, so really cannot complain if he wants to visit them with DGS. His Mother died 16 years ago so it had been a long time coming.
I have been busy with the Church here this week it was supposed to be a weelend sans DGS but DD begged last night quite nicely so he is down here tonight, but I need to be out at 9.30 tomorrow morning so she has been well warned. Have a great weekend folks, God bless x
felice I have spent the last 3 Christmases on my own and I really do not think about it. I am catering only for myself so I can eat what I want when I want and watch TV if there is anything worth watching. I usually end up treating it like a normal day. Try not to think about it, it is really no big deal. Some of us will be communicating on here that day so you will not be alone.
My lovely neighbours over the road have just asked me to have dinner with them tomorrow, knowing DD's away. That's made all the difference.
That's lovely, Dragonfly . So glad you will have company after all. Happy Easter to you
Dragon
That is lovely, have a good one !!!

How lovely Dragonfly - have a lovely time.
Nonu - the sun doesn't have ears
Isn't the next bank holiday in two weeks' time? May Day weekend.
Nice try though, Nonu. I think the sun should have ears this weekend. Of we have any sun, that is.....

. My first Easter without DH. We always used to go up to Scotland and be part of a large family group. I am lucky that I have my youngest son and his partner here. He has severe learning difficulties and she has Downs syndrome so as you can imagine its been great fun. They leave today and I will be here alone packing to move out on Friday. Every room of this house is full of memories so I don't know if it will feel better or worse to be living in my rented house.
I don't seem to remember weekends and holidays being so difficult when I lived alone before meeting DH. I think the difference is that then it was a relief to be out of a troubled marriage. Now it's just lonely and grief filled time to be got through.
Sewsilver DragonSunseeker and everyone else on their own today
.
I know only too well how the emotions of loss and loneliness well up on days like today. I am lucky this year as I am surrounded with family and friends, for which I am so grateful.
Gally enjoy your day
and (((hugs))) to everyone on their own this weekend.
Thinking of all of you on your own today.
Had a lovely long text from DD late last night to say they'd arrived safely at their holiday destination, so I feel more settled today. I think when you've experienced loss of any kind, there's a tendency to become over anxious about those you love. My heart goes out to you Sewsilver, this must be such a difficult time for you. Gally, Kitty and Seasider, thanks, have a lovely day.
Thinking of you all.
But as sewsilver says, catering is very stressful and I am feeling the burden of it if I were honest. There will be 14 at lunchtime and I have to go and play in church first, so the dinner is in the oven. But the real problem is the noise level - it is extraordinary - nothing naughty, just youthful exuberance, but I am not youthful! And every time I try to round people up to eat, it is like herding cats! They have been staying and every available space is crammed - there is no room to call my own and every item of our belongings have been commandeered as part of some fantasy game.
I hope that this does not feel a tactless thing to say to those of you spending Easter on your own, but I truly feel knackered. I have taken out my hearing aids so the high frequency noise is dimmed a little! Please enjoy your peace - I am sure that you will see your dear families in manageable dribs and drabs over the year, and that does have something to recommend it.
I send all good wishes for a peaceful time. Please enjoy it.
I said something similar up there ^ Mishap - it does get frenetic at times doesn't it? Soon be over though.
I suppose we should count our blessings. Have a nice
and enjoy church!
Happy Easter to you all
I'm also on my own, but this is normal. Not religious either.....have a nice Easter Egg with no milk or egg in it, a treat found by my daughter....maybe I am too old for this but it's delicious.
I am however glad my gardener has just texted me to say he will come tomorrow, his usual day.
My family are now in the Falklands and I did have a little wobble seeing their pictures of an Easter egg hunt as I always enjoyed doing this for my grandsons. However, I totally agree that the peace and quiet are to be cherished! I could always do an Easter egg hunt for the DH to encourage his gardening enthusiasm, I suppose.
Best wishes to all who are alone (or long distance).
This weekend has been just an ordinary weekend. I have spent much of it in the garden dodging between showers and all my vegetables are now in the ground or in post in the greenhouse.
Our neighbours were quite shocked to hear that neither of our DC will be with us. But DS and family were with us for four days last week and we had a lovely time and DD is working, but will be with us on Tuesday when we go away together for ten days.
The only annual festival that has any deep family significance for me is Christmas and I find now I am retired bank holidays are irrelevant and, from an occupying time point of view this is just another weekend.
