Soop's in her kitchen, all's right with the world.

Agus Sat 26-Apr-14 12:52:59

Hi Soop. I have been away from GN as I had a seriously nasty accident 6 weeks ago. Heavy medication and recovery is very slow, but, I am luckily on the mend.

Please Soop don't stress yourself with getting Bobby's portrait done. The fact that you are even doing this for me is suffice and means a lot. It will be done when it is done and that should be when it suits you Soop. No panic.

Hi to all other Granpals and my heartfelt best wishes to those of you who are dealing with terribly hard health issues.

DebnCreme Sat 26-Apr-14 13:44:41

Agus so sorry to read that you have had an accident, hope you are well on the road to recovery now. flowers.

Lona Sat 26-Apr-14 13:57:25

Hello soop, I'm so glad that you are feeling more chirpy, stick to the painting and leave the housework, it'll still be there next week! sunshine

Agus Glad to hear that you're on the mend too flowers

My friend J is sounding very bright and chirpy now after her op. She's the centre of (hospital) attention (her nickname is Me Me Me!) and enjoying the delicious food and rest. She may come home today or tomorrow morning.
Phew!

sunshine

Thank you Deb and Lona. Slowly but surely getting there. Onwards and upwards.

Good news for your friend Lona. I'm sure she will be glad to get back to her own home and familiar surroundings. I was discharged after five days and was so pleased to be home again.

kittylester Sat 26-Apr-14 14:19:09

Hi all, just popped in to keep up. Not feeling very sociable myself at the moment but I have missed you all and the gentleness of the kitchen. sunshine and must be feeling a bit more like my old self as I'm here. grin

Glad you are feeling better soop. And hope you make good progress Agus.

Lots of love and hugs for everyone struggling with their health or the health of loved ones at the moment. flowers

annodomini Sat 26-Apr-14 14:50:50

Agus, so sorry to hear you've had an accident, though good to know that you are recovering and are now back with us.
soop, take good care of yourself. x

Oldgreymare Sat 26-Apr-14 17:01:20

Keep popping back, putting off the packing and cleaning (why must I leave the house looking fairly reasonable? Is it because I don't want any potential burglers to think I'm a slob?)
Agus continue the recovery.
Kitty flowers to you too, and some sunshine to cheer you.

Bellasnana Sat 26-Apr-14 18:02:24

May I come and flop on the sofa for a bit please? Have been busy with this and that, just finished cooking, with DGD on Skype from the US to keep me company. She's such a character!

Very sorry to read of your accident, Agus. What happened? Do hope you are feeling better flowers

Lona it's good to have an update on your dear friend. Glad she is managing to keep her spirits up and hope you are feeling a bit happier knowing she is making progress.

Soop I've had a look at your art work and am more than impressed. You have such talent. Hope you will let us have a look at your latest paintings when they are finished.

DH is carrying on with his usual routine although I know he's apprehensive about what's to come. We went and bought him some pyjamas today in readiness for his hospital stay sad

My sister has had an awful week, but has seen her oncologist who is going to let her have another week off from the chemo and then reduce the dosage by 25% to see if it will ease the side effects. On top of all that, she has a urinary tract infection so is now on antibiotics for that. Thank you all, again for your kind thoughts which I have passed on and are much appreciated.

flowers cupcake wine for all of you smile

kittylester Sat 26-Apr-14 18:19:13

I'm following you around tonight Bella but I am (relatively) harmless. grin

We always have to buy DH pyjamas if he goes into hospital, too grin

Your sister is having a really bad time flowers

Thank you OGM for the flowers and sunshine. I have missed the kitchen!

Off to finish our dinner, wrapped up chicken (thighs wrapped around boursin cheese and then wrapped in bacon with the resulting gunge deglazed with white wine and then cream, black pepper and parsley) with Jersey Royals and peas. I've made loads so will bring some of the cold cuts in tomorrow.

Bellasnana Sat 26-Apr-14 18:55:24

Feel free to follow me, kitty I'm enjoying your company, but if anyone sees me hanging about in here tomorrow please point me in the direction of my housework which I have allowed to slide this week blush

moon good evening all

Agus Sat 26-Apr-14 19:04:57

Bella, I was plagued with cystitis for years and I eventually discovered that Cranberry Juice worked for me just as well as the constant antibiotics.

The accident I had was due to a builder in the house who opened a large hatch in the floor, covered the hole with underlay and left the house. I then walked along the hall and fell 3ft, breaking my back and tearing muscles. I have to wear an air brace for 8/12 weeks along with strong doses of morphine and co-codamol. A truly frightening experience, but, I am lucky that I will mend and the prognosis is good with hopefully no lasting damage.

As you said in an earlier post, we never know what's in front of us!

thatbags Sat 26-Apr-14 19:14:04

agus, sorry to hear about your accident. I have been wondering... hadn't seen you on GN for a while. I do hope your recovery continues apace. x

soop, lovely to hear you sounding like yourself [chuckle]

Love to bellasnana with all her family troubles flowers and lona's friend flowers

Bellasnana Sat 26-Apr-14 19:20:04

Agus what a dreadful thing to happen to you - truly shocking but thank goodness it wasn't an even worse outcome for you. Take it easy and best wishes for your speedy recovery flowers

Nelliemoser Sat 26-Apr-14 19:20:17

Agus That's terrible negligence. Are you taking action against him?

ffinnochio Sat 26-Apr-14 19:24:09

Agus Very sorry to hear of your terrible accident. Wishing you a most successful and comfortable recovery.

Lona I'm very pleased your friend is in good spirits. She chooses her friends well!

Nelliemoser Sat 26-Apr-14 19:36:02

Kitty I feel similarly in need of peace and calm.. I am in right dither and can't settle to anything lately.

OHs constant mithering and rushing everywhere in a panic because he has made himself late, is really getting me down.
Never mind the hoarded belongings now taking over all the cupboards in the house.
I think I am going to take up residence is Soop's quiet room for a time. There is endless room for other lost souls to get a good night's sleep. There are no brass instruments being played late evening here.

I am in a right grump. sad

annodomini Sat 26-Apr-14 19:36:18

Agus, what a shocking accident and dreadful negligence on the part of the builder. Glad you are on the mend. flowers

Agus Sat 26-Apr-14 20:21:55

Oh my, I am genuinely touched by your kindness and best wishes Granspals. Thank you so much. So nice to come back into the kitchen and as always, just the place to be when any of us need a bit of cheering up.

Dear Soop, it was your sounding a bit concerned re Bobby's painting that egged me on to post today, but what I omitted to say was how pleased I was to hear you sounding perkier after your recent bout of illness.

Lona Sat 26-Apr-14 21:46:18

ffinnochio smile

numberplease Sat 26-Apr-14 23:11:58

That`s shocking Agus, surely grounds to sue?

Soop, maybe it`s not the done thing, painting from photographs, but if it`s the only way...........? Anyway, even from photos you managed to capture the characters of our Pepper and Mia, down to a T! As for your query as to how I am, I suppose I shouldn`t grumble after reading what others are going through, my aches and pains are way down the register.

kittylester Sun 27-Apr-14 08:37:55

Agus, how awful for you! Do you gave any redress?

Nellie, I hope you had a good night's sleep. flowers

Soop - hope the tablets are working and you are feelings heaps better!

As promised some sliced, wrapped up chicken to nibble on during the course of the day! We love it cold.

DD3 is still with us but the children are spending the weekend back at home with Sil so the house is peaceful!

Marelli Sun 27-Apr-14 09:53:23

I only dip in to soop's 'quiet thread' occasionally (in fact I haven't done so for a while) and am so sorry to hear of the trials that some of you have been going through.
I hope that things pick up all round very soon. flowers
Agus, that was a terrible thing to happen and how irresponsible of the builder to do something so stupid. I hope you soon feel an improvement. x

Charleygirl Sun 27-Apr-14 10:09:20

Nellie feel free to come here if you want a night's sleep and peace. You may have to share a bed with Tara who prefers an ordinary bed to a cat bed. Much more comfortable with duvet etc on it. She loves company.

Agus how frightening for you. I hope that the builder feels suitably chastened. He does not deserve to work if that is the way he carries on.

Bella your sister is going through a horrendous time. I just hope that there is a big, shining light at the end of the tunnel.

soop I hope that the antibiotics are now kicking in. Forget the housework, the dust will be there next week. Enjoy your painting.

flowers to everybody else feeling under the weather for whatever reason.

I am about to get ready to meet a friend for lunch. I have not seen her for at least a couple of months because of the distance between our abodes. Phone calls are not the same.

Agus Sun 27-Apr-14 11:09:22

Thank you, number' Kitty*' Marelli* and Charley

Yes there will be redress. Our solicitor is dealing with it now if only to make this idiot think twice before he causes any more accidents due to his irresponsible disregard for other peoples safety. The thing that angers me most is that I am going through this because of his stupidity.

Redress so far is the fact that he is a local builder and word of my accident is spreading. Karma!

Hope everyone has a peaceful, relaxing Sunday sunshine

Icyalittle Sun 27-Apr-14 11:12:16

agus that is awful for you! What a dreadful thing to happen. I am so sorry and do hope you are on the mend at last. Are you near enough to any of us for a visit?
