Yes he has a name Ruby, he is badboy because he is rude at inappropriate times. He is quiet when I am on my own but when GC come he gets excited and blows raspberries.
You are probably doing all the right things, rest and sleep are great healers, I rarely get out of bed before 11am nowadays.
I decided early on that I would not let this get me down and I have a lot to be thankful for.
My grandfather had a budgie that was a great little talker, Joey could recite nursery rhymes and used to scoff my father by calling out B..., B... the plumber man couldn't mend a frying pan, it used to drive him dotty
Keep strong.

..anyone else awake??
(1001 Posts)Can't sleep - won't sleep - anyone else awake?
harrigran, my sister-in-law has a similar 'bad-boy'! Misbehaves when visitors pop by
Hope the poor sleepers have an easier night. Snorer is building up to his usual crescendo, so I may have to trail through to the spare room again.
Yea! Still awake? So many of you lovely g/netters having horrid nights and so much to keep you awake - harrigran ruby NanKate morethan and so many others - I wish I could be a 'sleep fairy' but alas ...I'm not!!! ??. My particular brand of sleeplessness tonight is due to my DM wandering and my DD struggling to help her ex-husband build a relationship with their 7-year-old daughter .... sometimes I don't want to be here ???
I'm still awake - fretting slightly because I didn't get to water the allotment today and it's been so hot I hope my seedlings haven't keeled over. Instead of doing my chores I had a lovely day with an unexpected visit from my Chinese foster family and then later from my son and his wife.
Hi shipmates. I'm still up. Just made a mug cake. I've heard it is good for replenishing iron levels!
How is your mum settling into your house jogging? It sounds like your DD is having a hard time too. It is a shame we don't have a magic wand sometimes. Come with me and live on my no worries island, where we only eat cake and watch mindless tele.
granny I am sure your seedlings will be ok until the morning. I don't know where you are but up t'North it was warm but a little chilly now so there will be moisture in the air. Of course, if you are down Sarf, then it will be warmer but I bet they're ok. It sounds like you had a lovely day anyway so you have made some great memories.
harrigran and Marelli Your naughty badboys, but that's men for you, never behaving wehn they should do, lol.
Can dogs go into a bank? I have to go tomorrow and she hasn't been out all week and I can't go and leave her at home, she would look so sad. I only need to nip in and there's obviously no food around and I will be holding her so I can't see a problem. She usually wins people over by looking so cute, even if I do say so myself. At least I will get out for five mins, not been out all week.
Woke up about half an hour ago, still fairly sore but not enough to wake me but here I am, wide awake and not wanting to be. The body clock is a strange thing.
. Hope everyone else is sound asleep, I've a decent book to read so that's what I will do. Have seen dogs in our bank ruby, so you may both be welcome. Hope the seedlings are thriving ga, feel guilty now that it didn't occur to me to water our tiny plants, your day sounds fantastic, love those sort of surprises. I'm off to the book. Sleep well everyone.
Me now. OH and the stupid hours he keeps. Crashing around at 5am in the cupboard which backs onto my bedroom. And yes I kicked him out of the main bedroom years ago due to the stupid hours he keeps.

Hi Kiddos, up again, but then I did have a sleep earlier when I got back from taking my key to my dad's carers. Is anyone else still up? Enjoying the delights and fun of Eastenders just now.
If I'd have known you were up I would have popped by. Had 2 good nights but last night was a stinker. Fretting about family troubles that I cannot solve but wish I could.
It doesn't help either when you pick up the paper and read yet another report on all the things you can suffer/die from if you don't get enough sleep!!
Hi fiorentina51 I'm sorry that you had such a disruptive night. Does it not help to write problems down to get them out of your head? I've found this helps sometimes. If you can't do anything about your families problems, then the next best thing is to just offer support and a shoulder to lean on. Sometimes that is the way it is, we can't wave a magic wand unfortunatley. And then stop reading papers, they are bad for your health!
Thanks Rubylady.? I like your idea of writing it down. Will give it a try tonight....unless I'm fast asleep!
Anyone up? I've an appointment at 10 am to go back to the registrars to alter my dad's death certificate. I noticed that they had put the care home as his usual address when he was only in there for a day and his normal address was not in it's rightful place. He would be upset at this as he loved his home so I am off to alter it and put his and mine mind at rest, if you know what I mean. Also to pick up my blue badge for my disabled parking. And then a sneaky look around the pound shop, see if there are any bargains and to buy some doggie treats. I've missed my dad today, I do every day but today I wanted to talk to him. X
What a shame about the certificate, ruby, I had no idea changes could be made but pleased for your peace of mind it is possible. Sounds as if that's been on your mind. Hope you are asleep by now. I've just woken up after 5 hours, not unusual for me, unlikely to go back so it's a check in with gn and then a book to read until a more civilised hour. I feel better than I did, so comfortable enough. It's not surprising you have days you miss your Dad more than others. My Mum died 26 years ago and I still have days I'd like a chat, in fact I often rabbit away to her, sort of know what she would say. Same with my Dad with practical things, he was Mr Fixit, often ask him how to do things. Be kind to yourself. The blue badge will give you more freedom. I enjoy a pound shop, DH can't bear them unless he spots something he actually needs then they are great.
. Take care. Hope you are sound asleep now.
I didn't know you can change a death certificate. When my dad died they wrote on his certificate that he was a shipyard labourer, I pointed out to the registrar that was not true and she said that the coroner had written it down and as a legal document it could not be changed. It caused a great deal of distress to the family and we felt it was an insult to my father who spent 5 years qualifying for his occupation.
cornergran Thank you, yes, I was in noddy land by the time you had got back up. I hope you enjoyed your book, I've not been able to get into any recently which is strange for me. I was going through my dad's things that I had from his flat which I hadn't dealt with last night to find some address I. D. He must have had bloody bad eyes to have worn those reading glasses!
I hope you are feeling better this morning.
harrigran I was told that if it is a fault of the registrar and it is within so long, then it can be changed. I do think some people in these positions need to take a course on bedside manner. It is not a job for someone who is uppity, a lot of decorum and care is needed when dealing with the bereaved. I bet it was an insult, they were proud men, and rightly so, when they were time served, like my dad was a welder. He would be annoyed if they had got it wrong and that is why I am doing it. I will ask and report back, see what they say. I hope you are feeling a bit better today. Time to get ready now that I've had my weekly wash.
for you.
It would have been my dad's 94th birthday today - I planted some beautiful home-grown red geraniums (his favourites) in a small corner of my corner, then lit some candles and place them nearby a small statue of dancing fairies.... then I and my two gd's sang happy birthday to him - it was touching....
Finding it hard to leave my memories behind and get off to sleep tonight
that should say ' in a small corner of my garden' ... doh!!!
I am still up and in the study. Did a supermarket shop today and had to go and lie down for an hour, had a nice sleep. I am managing to stay in bed during the night but DH wakes me up going to the toilet, we have a squeaky floor in the bedroom. I wish now I had stayed in the older part of the house and not moved into the extension.
My sister has her gynae appointment at the hospital tomorrow, she thinks they will do a biopsy from the uterus, so I guess we will not know anything straight away. She is a lot younger than me and since our parents died 30+ years ago, I tend to think of her as my third child.
Know what you mean harrigran I have a DB who is 15 years younger than me - I always refer to him as my 3rd child ? I hope your sister's results are positive - so much for you to deal with - do take good care of yourself? I quite wish I had an extension to escape to tonight - DH is snoring loudly next to me, DGD is snoring in her space and DS is raising the roof with his snoring .... DS and DGD are fortnightly lodgers - so that's two less when they go home ...??
God bless you jogginggirl, it sounds so sweet what you did for your dad. And it is good for your GC to know about the past. They are truly blessed having you as their gran.
harrigran I hope your sister goes on ok at the hospital tomorrow. It is a worry until the results are in. Did you feel better for having gone out though today or wish you hadn't bothered? I went out to the registrars, which I did with a lovely registrar lady, and then went for a quick look round the pound shop and specsavers but I was in a bit of a pickle because I couldn't get my breath and had to stop every few paces just to get to a taxi point. It's very scary. BTW, the registrar said that what the coroner puts on the death certificate has to stand. She only put a footnote on my dad's, not actually changed the full certificate. But I was happier with it. I was so glad to get back home though and have a sleep to recoup a little bit. Feet swelled up like balloons. I'm s fed up of all this. But never mind, I have to keep going forward, not much choice really.
I did get my blue badge though too, yeah!
Good morning to all those awake. Looks like I'll be joining this throng for a while until my broken humerus mends and I can sleep through the night again with no pain. Hope your roof isn't lifted off with all the snoring joggingirl. Congratulations on getting your blue badge ruby, that will make life a little bit easier. It does sound scary losing your breath so often. Did anyone help you on your walk to the taxi rank?
Hope your sister's results come through quickly harrigran and the outcome is s positive one for her.
dramatictessa Hi, welcome to the night owls, lol. No, no one probably knew that I needed help as I stopped and pretended I was looking in shop windows until I could move a little further. I did it, but it either has to improve for next time or I will be getting a mobility scooter very soon.
It's not very funny to have broken your humerus, how did you do it? I am sorry that you are in pain, that is not good at all. I've got the itches on again so will not wait until that eases but I am tired now.
now wait not not wait, that doesn't make sense, lol.
