...on the floods fields with his toy model boats. I have got an overwhelming desire to sit down with my nose in a book, and eat marmalade s as sandwiches.

Trouble is, there is washing to hang out, ironing to do, and the whole house needs dusting and hoovering.

Women don't really retire do they? It's just not fair. hmm [slightly pissed off]

Grannyactivist I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks like that. Trouble is that all my DH's activities mean he comes back either wet and muddy or hot and sweaty, both meaning extra laundry for me.hmm

Rich living would n't reach her toes would it? shock

Flowerofthewest Wed 08-Jan-14 17:01:41

Mine sits by muck heaps, think yourself lucky he doesn't come home smelling of cow dung

GP also wants me to measure my blood pressure for a week and average the scores. It's high. 'Taint fair (when was life fair?) – never smoked, never been overweight, don't drink much alcohol (never have), got masses of exercise until I came down with ME which slowed me down, and still get a fair bit. Where have I gone wrong? Must be all the flapjack.

Merlotgran are you mad ? If he fit and well enough to sit out in the cold all day fishing , I'm blowed if I would be making sandwiches etc. I hope you get your days off too and that he has dinner waiting when you get back.

soop Wed 08-Jan-14 17:07:37

bags I'm thinking of you. smile

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 08-Jan-14 17:09:41

I did n't like to say that! grin

buggered blowed if I make his sarnies for him! grin

merlot you are a saint.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 08-Jan-14 17:12:16

Flower the mind boggles. Does he do anything in particular while he sitting near the muck heaps? confused

POGS Wed 08-Jan-14 17:18:03

Poor old Mr. J doesn't have any hobbies. As for me my ambition is to become Miss Haversham and I am getting quite good at it. grin

Nonu Wed 08-Jan-14 17:59:34

Pogs LOL.

Stansgran Wed 08-Jan-14 18:00:47

DH played golf today for the first time for weeks. smileI would have made smoked salmon sandwiches and blinis with caviar if it got him some exercise. Waving the remote is not good for the blood pressure. I then plunge in to the domestic toil but get through far quicker and far less tiringly without the constant interruption .

kittylester Wed 08-Jan-14 19:37:25

DH got more funding today so, when he goes out to play, he gets paid!

POGS Wed 08-Jan-14 19:58:30

Good Lord Kitty. I hope he doesn't go out to play and get paid in a certain red light district in Leicester. grin

The mind boggles.

I had a very painful toe bags, turned out to be a very small corn at the side of my toe which even the chiropodist missed!

I would have thought if your GP suspected ingrown toenail he would have arranged a visit to a chiropodist.

Pittcity Wed 08-Jan-14 20:27:01

Mine gets paid for some of his hobbies (he is a Warrant Officer in the local Air Cadets and is always off on expeditions with the Squadon...at least that what he tells me), shame he spends it all on his other ones!

All the best with the antibiotics bags.

thatbags Wed 08-Jan-14 21:15:53

Thanks, agus and pittcity. GP did mention getting some of toenail removed if necessary but I guess he thought he'd be able to tell if that was necessary when the infection (which is quite slight actually; end of toe is just a bit red, not swollen or yucky) is cleared up. I was really quite surprised when he prescribed an antiB. I thought he'd tell me to soak it in Dettol or something.

Oh, Bags, I think they worry about infected toes as they can spread and be quite nasty (*Galen*?), so make sure you take your AB's! flowers

Mr. H's hobby is DIY, and he's currently turning our son's loft into a useable room. He's a very handy chap to have around - and it keeps him out of my hair!

Flowerofthewest Wed 08-Jan-14 22:38:10

My DDH sits by muck heaps to take pictures of the birds that feed on the many insects etc that live there.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 08-Jan-14 22:42:08

Ah! Thought it might be something ornithological. smile

merlotgran Wed 08-Jan-14 22:45:31

Saint merlot here..... I suppose I should have mentioned that I get breakfast in bed every Sunday morning. grin

grannyactivist Wed 08-Jan-14 22:45:44

Pittcity the WM also does his own laundry! wink (And I'm well into training my two foster sons along the same lines.)

Thistledoo Thu 09-Jan-14 09:39:15

Jinglebellsfrocks, if you want to curl up and eat marmalade sandwiches why don't you change your username to Paddington.
I'm having a day off housework today, far too busy. Clinic apt and choir practice. Mr T cooking the evening meal as its my birthday. I'm dreading it. Have a nice day Jingle.

Thistledoo Thu 09-Jan-14 09:41:02

Sorry meant to say good luck with sore toe Bags.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 09-Jan-14 09:55:19

Happy birthday Thistle. When all the nasty stuff is over. (it will be soon smile)

And the meal will be lovely!

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 09-Jan-14 09:56:22

And I am sure the singing will be very melodious. smile
