...on the floods fields with his toy model boats. I have got an overwhelming desire to sit down with my nose in a book, and eat marmalade s as sandwiches.

Trouble is, there is washing to hang out, ironing to do, and the whole house needs dusting and hoovering.

Women don't really retire do they? It's just not fair. hmm [slightly pissed off]

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 08-Jan-14 12:30:57

Well, I totally cocked that up did n't I.

Work it out. hmm

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 08-Jan-14 12:32:24

OR... ignore me. Probably best. hmm

At least he's out of the house Jingl make the most of the peace and quiet.

Galen Wed 08-Jan-14 12:45:26

Model boats are fun. Radio controlled I expect. Did he build them himself?

Snap about the dusting and hoovering whole house malarky. However, I have listened to a builder about what needs to be done with our leaky wall. He did NOT suck his teeth. I've been to the pharmacy for the third time this week to collect a prescription of antibiotics shock, which they didn't have the first time and which had been snapped up by more urgent cases than mine the second time, for a slightly sore toe!! It has been sore for a few months, admittedly. This is only the second time in my entire life I've needed an antibiotic. I've shredded some more eucalyptus greenery and split some logs and added them to my eucalyptus wood pile. There's still about nine tenths of the tree to do.

The dusting and hoovering can wait some more. Might even rope Minibags in to do some >>> Plan!

I feel the same every Monday when DH goes fishing with his friends. I'm up early making sandwiches, flask etc., making sure he's got his woolly hat, glasses, mobile, scarf.....Honestly, it's like sending a kid off on a school trip!

As soon as he's out of the house I make a cup of coffee and stick the washing on. Then it's a choice of hoovering, ironing, shopping, cooking, cleaning out the stove.....the list goes on. The dogs then need a walk.

At about 3pm I get a phone call telling me when and where to pick him up. He's always tired and a bit grumpy so this Stepford Wife has the fire lit and a meal at the ready.

Retirement????

jings Very serious business are model boats,we have a reasonable sized model boating lake here at New Brighton and it seems to be a very exclusive club.hmm hoping your hubby enjoys his time with his boat.

Tegan Wed 08-Jan-14 13:05:12

What happens with a model boat if it breaks down whilst out in the middle of a lake? My son was very into radio controlled cars and boats but he didn't get to use the boat much. Do you have to get a radio controlled rescue boat to bring it back?

glammanana Wed 08-Jan-14 13:10:48

Tegangrin our boating lake is right opposite the RNLI slipway so they are OK for rescue.smile

Anne58 Wed 08-Jan-14 13:14:32

Mr P is currently deep cleaning the bathroom. grin

(I suppose that makes it sound as if it was filthy!)

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 08-Jan-14 13:18:37

Tegan he would most probably get me down there to help retrieve it. With welly boots. I have risked life and limb for a model aeroplane before now.

(ok! slight exagerration. But only slight)

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 08-Jan-14 13:19:44

glamma you live somewhere very exciting! DH would love that.He would be there begging to get on board at every launch.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 08-Jan-14 13:21:06

merlot grin I don't feel so bad now, knowing I'm not the only one suffering.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 08-Jan-14 13:22:07

Oh yes. He built them Galen. In his shed. smile

Galen Wed 08-Jan-14 13:55:36

What does he have? We have a very active club here. They split into two
1 model racing yachts which is very competitive
2 model boats, including a talking, steaming, water firing dragon.

soop Wed 08-Jan-14 13:55:49

bags I'm keeping a beady eye on you. wink

Galen Wed 08-Jan-14 13:59:28

Out bags.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 08-Jan-14 13:59:33

I don't know Galen. I think it's just a boat. I don't look at it.

He only does boats when the field is flooded and they can't fly their planes.

Galen Wed 08-Jan-14 13:59:41

Gout even?

grannyactivist Wed 08-Jan-14 14:06:19

The Wonderful Man has a number of hobbies and interests to occupy him - he does all of his own preparations for them and most of his interests keep him out of the house. If he isn't in the house then he can't be messing it up and I get serious brownie points for encouraging him to do his own thing. Double bonus. [Grin]

bikergran Wed 08-Jan-14 14:22:18

oh DH hubby loved the radio controlled model boats..! I used to love it when he fancied a new boat, (I used to secretly love helping him with the little intricate bits n bobs, making fish and lobster pots for the fishing boats he built) then he moved onto model trains smile

thatbags Wed 08-Jan-14 15:40:16

galen, GP thought it might be a slightly ingrowing toenail. It doesn't look any different from usual to me. Anyway, I've started the antiBs today. Will see how it goes. I did wonder about gout hmm

Anne58 Wed 08-Jan-14 15:59:26

bags go with gout darling, ingrowing toenails are soooo last year!

Galen Wed 08-Jan-14 16:05:35

Too much rich living bags?
