I spent yesterday learning more about GF bread and pastries at Leith's. Had a really great day, enhanced by the fact that the three young women in my 'group' were great. I also made better pastry than I have made for years.

Tegan The Canary islands to look at the Geology. I have some strange interests and this and physical geography has been a fascination of mine for years!

It involves quite a lot of standing in quarries or in road cuttings where you can see exposed rock faces. I go with groups of like minded enthusiasts who "understand."

Walking on eggshells, letter from hosp. phoned up to make apt. and ask for clarification. Investigation due to be carried out under local anaesthetic (that's what the consultant told me) now to be carried out under a general. Wondered why they had sent a pre-op check up appointment.

Can they do that with keyhole surgery? It's always better when you have something definate to deal with, isn't it. Just enjoy your holiday; going somewhere nice? A bit of sunshine will do you the world of good!

I have been to see the consultant about having my parathyroid adenoma done. This was after I was referred on by the Endocrinologist in November.

Not having heard anything by mid Jan I posted a letter to the general surgeon on the 12th asking what was happening as I wanted to sort out the holiday I had booked in October.

T/C from secretary 16th Jan they had "not seen the letter" (but seemed to find it PDQ after I wrote.) but gave me an appointment for today.

Surgery provisionally booked for mid March, allowing me to go on my prebooked holiday the last week in Feb. I am not looking forward to this surgery but I do not want the calcium leaching out of my bones any longer.

The surgeon is quite a dish with good communication skills he was very apologetic about the delay but very informative about the process, and risks etc. As as they are supposed to be.

After feeling concerned about this since November I now know things are moving in the right direction.

MiceElf maybe they are super clever at things other than spelling...though they should be able to use a spellcheck!

Perfect spellers are not always clever/bright/intellectual/creative too and vice versa!

came home from DDs today, our homecoming delayed by 2 days because of the snow.
Found some tulips bought last Wednesday completely flopped and flaccid in the vase - no water left at all.
Wrapped them up in a paper so the stems were supported, cut an inch off the stem and stood them back in the vase.
Now 3 hours later they look as good as new

Emergency babysitting this afternoon, as my ds, dil and gs have all gone down with a (hopefully) 24hr vomiting bug, caught from the baby, who presumably caught it at nursery.
She managed a fine example of projectile vomiting on Saturday, while they were having brunch in a local cafe!

I can't wait!

Checked out the Edgar Wallace Mysteries; lots of strange facial hair and accents that float around from one country to another in the space of a few seconds. Now going to curl up on the sofa and watch Pathfinders to Mars. One of the episodes of PtoV last night said at the end that there had been deliberate mistakes in it as part of an experiment. I wonder if they added that after they'd noticed the mistakes . I must say PtoM is getting rather exciting. It's no wonder I was so obsessed with it when I was 10.

harrigran hope the water comes back on soon. Today I have been at my desk at the start of an online creative course. Have my notebooks at my side and am thoroughly enjoying it. Looking at my efforts I don't think my blockbuster will be published any time in the near future.

Have been without water since before 6am. water main burst in street. We have been told that bottled water is not provided until it has been off for 12 hours. There are quite a few sick and old people in the street and also some young babies, hopefully they are classed as special requirements and will be provided with water.
