Right, who knew that atherosclerotic lesions have been observed to occur naturally in baboons? Also in wild sea lions and seals, pigs, cat and dogs, sheep, cattle and horses, reptiles and rats.

Well, well!

Seem to remember they have a kind of spiral effect going on. And a nice colour scheme. To think that they taught us in school that birds didn't do that kind of thing, just a polite juxtaposition of orifices.
Did you know that some reptiles have 2 and a kangaroos is Y shaped?
Was riveted by Julia Bradbury and the bears last night on Planet Earth Live. She did this fascinating explanation of the fact that brown bears have 3 pairs of nipples and the topmost pair produce the richest milk. So far so good. Cute shot of 3 cubs feeding. Then they moved on to the mamma bear rejecting her yearling cubs when she starts to come into heat...
She and the the number one venerable brown bear expert on the entire planet are up close and personal to mamma and daughter bear. (mama is habituated to researchers presence) Bear Guru gropes bear. "What are you doing?" asks Julia. "Feeling her vulva to see if she is coming on heat" comes the reply...
Hasn't family viewing come a long way folks.

soop Mon 14-May-12 14:20:20

nelliedeane Mon 14-May-12 14:20:02

I would follow one for miles Grannylin grin wink

Grannylin Mon 14-May-12 14:18:23

Don't quite know how to follow an exceedingly long willy grin

nelliedeane Mon 14-May-12 14:17:47

soop I used to have ducks we had two large male muscovies, and two female,a very old fragile female Indian runner, and her effeminate partner Donald ,who was considerably younger than her all was well until the female muscovies got a bit flighty and got squashed on the side of a passing van.
The two males tried doing each other, and to Donalds dismay also tried to take him [just think of brace your self sidney] and Salem as well,Donald would run and flap around the garden as a decoy for salems honour and the ritual you describe would take place and I knew what you where going to write as I saw the sentence with the ducks in it they have incredibly long appendages and if they get thwarted will run around tripping over it and treading on it and dragging it on the grass until it gets what it wants and the weapon retracts grinooh matron!!

soop Mon 14-May-12 14:06:08

Being ladylike, I didn't mention the act taking place before my very eyes, to the other diners. grin

soop Mon 14-May-12 14:02:55

Yesterday, during lunch with friends who have ducks and a drake, I was startled to see the drake "collar" the duck, pin her head to the turf, mount her, ruffle his feathers [and hers], dismount and reel in an exceedingly long willy. shock

Anagram Mon 14-May-12 13:59:09

I agree!

absentgrana Mon 14-May-12 13:56:59

JessM I can't cope with snail porn first thing in the morning.

soop Mon 14-May-12 13:55:53

If you wanted to count more than once, twice, thrice, you couldn't - there is no such word. hmm

JessM Mon 14-May-12 13:52:09

Garden snails are hermaphrodites. They mate by shooting each other with long darts, reeling each other and exchanging sperm. If you are really really lucky you might see them do this at the bottom of your garden one wet morning!

Abstemiously and facetiously have all the vowels in order.
I was sorry when antidisestablishmentarianism lost out to some unmemorable chemical name.
Rats live on no evil star and Able was I ere I saw Elba and Madam I'm Adam are palindromes.

I thought snails rasped rather than chewed. Sharks don't have teeth; they have denticles. Nevertheless, it's worth avoiding a Great White.

Gally Mon 14-May-12 08:51:41

Good heavens, Do snails have teeth ??

nanaej Mon 14-May-12 08:45:46

Did you know snails have over 2,000 teeth! It said so on my yogurt pot so it must be true! ( actually DGS yog pot but I ate it!)

PRINTMISS Mon 14-May-12 08:41:48

I thought at one time I could get a degree in useless information, but having read all that I must go back to the drawing board - serves me right!

harrigran Sun 13-May-12 22:31:21

Where I have other home, neighbours are Postlethwaites and Brocklebanks. we are in Cumbria now but it used to be Lancashire. A totally useless snippet of information.

jeni Sun 13-May-12 21:10:57

Very clever.

jeni Sun 13-May-12 21:09:44

Hopi?

Ariadne Sun 13-May-12 21:07:50

TOLD him! Yes, oast means house. And I know exactly what he's going to come up with next, but he's in the bath at the moment, thank goodness. No, not quizzes - he hates them but when he's forced into one is a veritable mine of useless facts.

Bags Sun 13-May-12 21:04:56

Only a few seconds between them, ej. wink

Bags Sun 13-May-12 21:04:11

Isn't an oast a kiln? Maybe an oast house is a kiln of kilns?

nanaej Sun 13-May-12 21:03:59

sorry bags didn't see your post until I posted!!
