I believe that some established members may have ended their membership following on from this thread. I think that is very sad and I hope they will come back at some point; they will be missed.

I would just like to add, as this thread has been brought up yet again, that no posts at all have been deleted. I re-read them myself this morning. And I have nothing further to say on the matter.

What on earth is going on? This bantering about somebody saying nasty things about somebody else saying nasty things and not feeling welcome.

because when i looked for them i couldn't find them; and i think it might have been mentioned in the pms.
can you tell me where the troll-song is? if it's still there, that will be an indication that the others might also be extant.

Can I point out that no one can decide that a thread should stop although, of course, they may suggest that it should be.

Second, private messaging is what it says on the tin - private. It's no one else's business.

I'm not at all sure where all this complaining about cliques and long-standing members is coming from or why. I have been a member since last May but have not signed up to any cliques. I don't know any other gransnetters who have.

I reserve the right to mock any comment or claim that I find ludicrous, absurd or laughable. Generally, I don't bother.

Perhaps GNHQ could confirm whether any posts have been deleted and put an end to this once and for all.

i play very nicely. at all times. i am a perfectly open, honest and straightforward person.

there is a lot of mean-spiritedness on gransnet, and unkindness, and some gners who take part in it deny its existence. that doesn't actually make it go away.

i maintain my original position. if there is to be a discussion of etiquette, being nice to newbies, don't kowtow to those who think they 'rule the roost', and be open about how horrible gn can be - so that gners can stop doing it, are all things to bear in mind.

i wonder why you should wish to pursue this to the bitter end, anagram. you have searched and re-read old threads - i haven't. i wouldn't have thought you and i had anything in particular to argue about - you're particular about spg and i'm willing to be corrected so i don't see a problem there.

granbunny I have already checked, and I agree with anagram - I do not believe any posts have been deleted. I was around when all this started and I have no memory of the 'troll song' you refer to. I would certainly like to know if any such thing happened on this forum, as it would not be something I would want any part of.

I have just checked as well. The post you refer to as the 'troll song' is still there.

It's easy to tell if posts have been deleted by HQ because they tell us!

It's not a song, just a phrase, spoken in reaction to posts that had gone before.

I re-read one particular thread, which is obviously the one you're concerned about. You said you'd looked for posts and couldn't find them, so you obviously have searched.

I, too, am a perfectly honest and straightforward person, which is why I am at a loss to understand why you continue to disparage GN and its members and don't seem willing to accept that the misinterprations of your initial posts were just that.

granbunny, I have not come across mean-spiritedness and unkindness on gransnet. I know your early posts were not well received by some people but that's all water under the bridge now and on several of the threads where you have posted since (I won't have read them all probably) people have been kind, welcoming and agreeable.

bagitha, i am glad you have found gransnet to be a much nicer place than i at first found it. thank you for the times when you have been supportive - it has helped.

as i said earlier, no-one needs to make amends and i am not denying that i have enjoyed kind responses as well - i have thanked many people, and as i said earlier, i am still here.

but denying it ever happened does not help innocents who arrive here in future. i've actually seen a recent poster upset in the last week - so it clearly hasn't ended.

oh, and it was a song. i saw it. then i didn't see it. that suggested to me that it had been removed.

Can you remember any of the song? Apart from troll. Even a tiny bit would help me to know whether we're talking about the same post.
