It's her style we recognise and she does let us know it's her. I think I would recognise quite a few Gransnetters now, as we all have different ways of saying things and some telling phrases that make us who we are, as well as topics that we know will always attract a posting from interested parties.

For example, I bet if I posted something about walking and managing my wonky knee, a certain greatnan would be there with some good advice!

jingle can change her name a 100 times and she will always be jingle but it does keep you on your toes.

I'm just a bit puzzled, one of the other threads this evening pointed me to the GN Etiquette and rules where is states:
"We don’t allow members to change their usernames because we want everyone to be able to trust the relationships they build up with others on Gransnet."
So how come soop and jingle get round this? I think they are the teachers pets and offer a chocolate bribe

If you want a new user name you just need to open another account using a different e-mail address.

Because of real family/health problems I haven't been able to post for several weeks. Came back on today to find yet another of these nonsensical 'where is she and what is her current name' type of threads. Am I really the only one who finds this intrinsically childish and boring? For goodness sake - GET A GRIP!!

I have only one e-mail account. I did once ask to be banned from GN to stop me coming back. But kind Geraldine said no.

You are allowed to unsubscribe from GN whenever you feel things are getting too much for you. And you it seems you are always allowed back. You cant have exactly the same user name though.

But it would be confusing and unfair to use a completely different name that no-one recogised, without telling people first.

And tbh I think my 'shapeshifting' is quite enjoyed on here. By those with the right attitude, of course. stuffed shirts don't enjoy much at all

Why bother unsubscribing, other than to have people begging you to come back? Why not just stop logging on? Nobody would know.

Once you have unsubscribed, you can't actually post anything just read the posts. That does make it easier to stay away. I'm just as addicted as anyone else!

Calling people who don't agree with everything you do 'stuffed shirts' , even when you pretend to hide it, maybe one reason why you sometimes get negative responses.
The only thing I have every objected to is the trivialisation of serious topics - if you don't feel able to add anything to a topic, why try to derail it for other people? There are plenty of opportunities for light-hearted banter, but it is sometimes just not appropriate and I expect mature people to recognise the difference.
