Engelbert Humperdinck
As a senior citizen I really do want older people to get opporotunities, but he does seem to be of a diaster waiting to happen. surely he has had his glory. We have so much musical talent in this country, I think it is only right that we should give one of them the chance to present us. Or am I not hearing/seeing things to clearly is it all going in one ear\eye and out the other
Never mind he might wear the Union Jack.

I think we do but, as I said, I'm not sure that I'm correct. I might be getting confused that, as a founder country we automatically qualify. And I could be wrong about that as well [memory not so good and all that].

On a betting front, my betting forum thinks Sweden to win and Serbia and Italy to do well. We'll see.

There is something so compulsive in its awfulness and this is even more obvious as I watch Sir Terry on "Yesterday" with his overview of the last 50 years. You think it is bad now? It always was!

Anagram Sat 26-May-12 20:36:53

It's so quiet on here, I think everyone who's not out gallivanting is secretly watching Eurovision!

glammanana Sat 26-May-12 20:38:09

I have just watched The Russian Grannies I wonder if any of them are members of GN grinI must say I liked their national dress but the make-up left something to be desired !!

glammanana Sat 26-May-12 20:40:31

Anagram my thoughts exactly.I could change channels but football is on the other side and I don't feel in the mood to go looking through BT Vision.I'm messing about with this stupid tablet thingy and trying to download e-books confused

Annobel Sat 26-May-12 20:47:04

According to Graham Norton one of those grannies is only 44 - or was it 46. I think I spotted one who looked less lined than the others - taller too. glamma, surely the idea was to make them look as grannyish as possible, hence little or no make-up. Someone needs to meet Gnetters!

glammanana Sat 26-May-12 20:52:39

Annobel I am sure that there must be a "cottage industry" type opening for us to show some of these ladies how to present themselves ?? grinWe could certainly recruit some fab models.

crimson Sat 26-May-12 20:55:12

Annobel; I was trying to work that one out. 44? Must still be a hard place to live,'back in the USSR'.....

glassortwo Sat 26-May-12 20:58:43

The 44/46 year old must have had a hard paper round grin

Anagram Sat 26-May-12 21:04:30

Or a lot of vodka! grin

Annobel Sat 26-May-12 21:04:45

glamma, if you did that, you'd be destroying their unique selling point - they have to look like 'babushkas'.

granjura Sat 26-May-12 21:18:03

Yes, it would really make my day if the 'Grannies' win it!

gangy5 Sat 26-May-12 21:27:45

Yawn! yawn! yawn! - I'll switch on at the end to see who wins!!

jeni Sat 26-May-12 21:30:17

Somebody let me know tomorrow, please!

Anagram Sat 26-May-12 21:31:33

I've got it on in the background, but heavens, need earplugs for some of them!

numberplease Sat 26-May-12 21:34:36

According to our paper, the youngest one is 53, but looks a lot older. I`d like to have watched the Eurovision for a change, but he who must be obeyed is watching the flippin` football! At least Engelbert, or Gerry Dorsey as I remember him, can`t do any worse than any of the British entrants ov er the last few years.

glassortwo Sat 26-May-12 22:02:27

Sweden or Greece to win

Anagram Sat 26-May-12 22:08:13

Germany sounds the most contemporary - vote for them, they can afford to host the next one!

crimson Sat 26-May-12 22:18:52

Very disappointed with the songs this year. Really liked the Hungarian song, and the Italian one. Sweden was a good performance but didn't think that much to the song. Think I missed the German one when someone knocked on my door. A few songs, like the Serbian one were almost very good but then just lacked something. Still reckon that our song was the best song. Better get ready for the voting; nil points for us I wonder?

gracesmum Sat 26-May-12 22:23:06

Russian Grannies clearly haven't dealt with the "7 signs of ageing"!!grin
Greece and Spain can't afford to host glassortwo, I was expecting them to sing "Buddy, can you spare a dime?" smile

Anagram Sat 26-May-12 22:33:35

Do you think that's why some of this year's contributions were so dire - they didn't want to win? grin

Annobel Sat 26-May-12 22:39:32

Decided to watch the Swedish cop show but fell asleep and lost the thread. wink

merlotgran Sat 26-May-12 22:56:37

Just got in, switched on and we've got........1 point. Have I missed much?

Anagram Sat 26-May-12 23:00:09

Oh, it's so embarrassing (if you care!). What a farce...grin
