A happy day filled with sunshine to you all. The harr is gradually lifting. I sense that good things are about to happen.
Ariadne it's good to have you back.
jeni a special day for you and the family. flowers
GA Wonderful treat for you. Congratulations. Well deserved. smile Annobel thanks for your words of wisdom. To complete the Telegraph crossword within the hour of returning to the ward, is my aim grin
green see you at the party...be sure to rest up in preparation for a right royal five star celebration. wink
Gally (hugs)
Glamma I'm counting the days to being fit enough to Strip the Willow at the village ceilidh...YAY!
Annobel No matter what state I'm in, as a G-Netter, I intend maintaining a lady-like sense of decorum. wink Having an en-suite bathroom is a huge plus. Nothing worse than sitting half on, half off a bedpan with part-drawn curtains for so-called privacy. blush

Fabulous day here, full sun and warm. I think i am going to need suncream for the garden because I am off to play with GC sunshine

Today I am recovering from a woderful day yesterday, spent with DH, DD1 and 2 DGDs at Whipsnade Safari Park. A wonderfully warm sunny day, picnic by the 'efalents' because they are not too 'stinky' and wallowing in the pleasure the little ones get from the animals and their antics. Not a tear or whinge from either of them, just massive excitement. I feel blessed to be part of that. Today DH is exhausted and suffering (too much sun being one reason) but he insisted in pushing the pushchair with 2 children (some of the time) and would not let up - he likes to be helpful and denies anything might be too much! Maybe best to limit these trips but I feel we must enjoy them while we can. Another lovely sunny day here but thrown a bit by the hour change smile sunshine

Annobel Sun 25-Mar-12 14:27:05

Another lovely sunny day. I have just had lunch with senior GD who was looking very beautiful - I'm being purely subjective, of course. Now I am going to take the paper into the garden with a nice cup of redbush.

Enjoying the garden, watching everything spring to life and come into blossom. Blue tits are going berserk and have turfed old nesting material out of one nest box. I have an old outside toilet in an outbuilding and realise I left the door ajar (it's going to be converted to a coldframe/potting shed) - a robin has just appeared from inside, so I wonder if it's just picked its des-res? Looks like it might be out of bounds till fledging time if the robin likes what it sees.

...still painting....got next week off work to do...more painting.....

glammanana Sun 25-Mar-12 15:21:40

crimson Where are you painting you seem to have a lot of paint to get through ? I have just brought DGCs home for lunch we have been to the rehearsals for "Joseph and his Technicoloured Dreamcoat" it is part of a Sunday School production and my ears are now ringing (in the nicest possible way I may add) so mr.glamma umpire in the garden whilst I get some food put together for the little ones and drinks for us grown ups.

Greatnan Sun 25-Mar-12 16:06:46

Looking forward to your photos, Ariadne.
I had a two hour walk up to the ski station this morning - it is the last day of the season. Next week I will have my lovely mountains all to myself!

Mamie Sun 25-Mar-12 16:13:45

Eating! Today was our village "repas des anciens" when there is such a thing as a free lunch for the over-sixties in the commune. Five courses, aperitif, white wine, red wine, champagne. Five hours of sitting round a long table eating and drinking (and speaking nothing but French) in a local restaurant. I am stuffed and going out for a walk in the lovely sunshine.

JessM Sun 25-Mar-12 16:24:08

Sounds wonderful mamie

jeni Sun 25-Mar-12 16:25:50

Lovely service at church, this morning! Our new rector is very with it and the curate downright dishy! Tall dark and handsome doesn't begin to describe him! We gave thanks for the gift of DGD, then back to my house for drinks and nibbles! House full as several of dd's friends cancelled at the last moment, so some of the choir with which dd late dh and myself used to sing came back.
DGD was fascinated by the rectors beard and had a good hold of it. The choir were hoping she would give it a good yank?grin but she is far too well brought up!
House now peaceful as guests have gone . Dd dgd and soh having a nap upstairs!

Greatnan Sun 25-Mar-12 16:38:13

I like the sound of that Mamie.

crimson Sun 25-Mar-12 17:54:00

glamma...I painted a couple of doors white which then means that everything else looks dirty so it goes on ad infinitum. Then had to paint door surrounds, skirting board etc etc.

nanachrissy Sun 25-Mar-12 18:00:24

What a glorious day! I made a huge cooked breakfast which my bf and I ate outside in the scorching sunshine. My "flagged town garden" (back yard! wink), is a real sun trap. Lounged around and read the paper, went to visit Dad for 10 minutes (then he nods off!) and then more sun soaking.

I feel so much better now. Roll on summer sunshine

Ariadne Sun 25-Mar-12 18:09:51

Lovely day. Have to say, that after 30 degrees heat and 70% humidity I am really appreciating a British spring day. For one thing, my hair stays in place, and I'm not all hot and sweaty!
And, oh, I have eaten and drunk so much, it's nice to feel frugal! Getting on with photos.
Mamie what a lovely idea. Vive la France.

Gally Sun 25-Mar-12 18:20:08

Glorious day - at last. Long walk this morning with a friend. Cooked lunch for another friend then when she had gone emptied out the garden shed, deposited half of its contents in a neighbours skip (with permission) and then cut the grass; phew, time for a shower and a sit down with something refreshing wine
Jeni your day sounds wonderful. Ariadne welcome back smile

GoldenGran Sun 25-Mar-12 18:21:51

Welcome back Ariadne glad you had a lovely time. had DD staying over night without the children who are with their Father this weekend. DD was at a Hen party of her friend who is getting married for the first time aged 40. after a succession of terrible men she has now met an absolutely lovely man who is kind to her and genuinely loves her, something she is not used to. My DD was looking the worse for wear this morning so I cooked her a big breakfast. I absolutely adore my DGC but having DD on her own was a joy. We don't often get a chance for adult conversation without interruption, it was wonderful. We went for a walk in the glorious sunshine and now she has gone home to the children.A good day.

nanachrissy Sun 25-Mar-12 18:25:42

Golden that is so nice. I miss my daughter's company too. smile We never get to have a proper grown up conversation with each other.

nanachrissy Sun 25-Mar-12 18:26:57

Ariadne welcome home, it's nice to have you back with us smile

greenmossgiel Sun 25-Mar-12 21:08:35

Lovely to have you back again, Ariadne - really looking forward to seeing your photos! Today I have done nothing more than sit in the garden and read the papers. The weather has been really lovely. Have tried very hard to put pet sunscreen on Daisy's (my white cat) ears....anyone ever tried to do that....confused?!

nelliedeane Sun 25-Mar-12 21:58:49

jeni noticed you have 3 hips from few days ago were you jake the peg in a former life...
Today have taken grandaughter and friend to Hunstanton and got on with paperwork in the front of the car whist they cruised the arcades in search of Dance mats and 2p machines, came home grumpy OH sorting the shed,so had a cheeky vodka and coke or 2 ....all the better to ignore him with.grin

Greatnan Sun 25-Mar-12 22:04:14

Oh,green, that did make me smile - the idea of you putting sunscreen on your cat's ears!
I am glad you had a nice day, jeni, but I don't think you are allowed to have lustful thoughts about a man of the cloth.

You all make me feel so idle - I did my housework yesterday, all 15 minutes of it!

nelliedeane Sun 25-Mar-12 22:23:43

geenmossgiel not had the problem of putting cream on my sadly departed pussy but did have to procure a urine sample from him..with no great sucessconfused

jeni Sun 25-Mar-12 22:28:24
