Good morning everyone.....sunshine

Welcome to Volume 4 of this popular thread.

I've had all 3 of my hips done under spinal. Also my ankle!

PRINTMISS Sat 24-Mar-12 15:39:58

Can I join this group? Well, even if I can't here goes! We have a perfectly lovely morning/day here, but I have spent the morning shopping in Sainsbury's (prefer it to Tesco, even though it is a drive away). Spent far more than I should mainly because my husband enjoys shopping there, and insists on walking round with me, so that we buy all sorts of things I would not normally get. However, I think we have enough to feed three or four families if we need to, and after watching Sports Relief for a little while yesterday evening, must appreciate how lucky we re to be able to shop as we do. Day off tomorrow (can you have a day off if you are retired?) Playing short mat bowls in the afternoon, last for the season, everything outdoors from now on and great fun.

supernana Sat 24-Mar-12 15:59:04

jeni Would you therefore recommend?

goldengirl Sat 24-Mar-12 16:09:03

Sitting in the garden in the SUNSHINE! I should be doing all sorts of other things but there's always tonight. Have just come in to get COOL!!!!

Oldgreymare Sat 24-Mar-12 16:37:57

Lovely day, lovely sunshine, spring blossom and flowers. So what do I do?
Overdo the gardening and--bugger my back--upset my lower spine! Ah well!

Oldgreymare Sat 24-Mar-12 16:38:45

Now why didn't that work? Hrmph!

Annobel Sat 24-Mar-12 17:07:48

It was a relief to have the spinal anaesthetic because I do react very badly to a general. After the shoulder done with a general, I was horribly sick but had no pain for 24 hours thanks to a nerve block which got me nicely over the post-op period. Now, aren't we just a bunch of old ladies comparing notes about our surgery!

supernana Sat 24-Mar-12 17:22:29

Annobel hmm grin

glammanana Sat 24-Mar-12 17:44:27

supernana just a nice note for you regarding your up and coming 5** stay in Spa Hotel !!! my pal had her new knee fitted 7 weeks ago and yesterday she was caught up a pair of ladders taking down curtains she feels so fit now it is the second knee she has had done she had other one done 18 mths ago so she says she feels like a young gaselle.smile

jeni Sat 24-Mar-12 18:14:05

Super. Definitely yes! No anaesthetic danger, they usually put some pain killer on at the same time!
You can do the telegraph crossword within half an hou of return to the wardgrin

Annobel Sat 24-Mar-12 18:18:39

Unless the morphine is making you throw up....

glassortwo Sat 24-Mar-12 18:23:23

printmiss of course you can join us, we love new faces.

Men are terrible at loading your trolley with things that you must have and then a few months down the road I end up binning the lot unused grin

Ariadne Sat 24-Mar-12 19:20:21

Hellooooo! Oh, I have missed you all so much! The landlines and broadband were down where my friends in Durban live, and, in true African style, repairs were slow....

Got back this morning, am tried but so nice not to be jet lagged. Will bore you all tomorrow with more photos and stories - one children's home in particular that would break your heart.

glassortwo Sat 24-Mar-12 19:26:02

Oh jess you must be so excited, sunshine

It will lovely to have you back ariadne

Carol Sat 24-Mar-12 19:27:13

Welcome home Aridne - glad you got back safe and sound. Looking forward to hearing about your adventures and learning what has been happening out there. Enjoy your rest smile

Annobel Sat 24-Mar-12 19:28:50

Great to have you back, Ariadne. flowers I was wondering when you'd be home. You missed an 'interesting' party last night. Not for the faint hearted.

greenmossgiel Sat 24-Mar-12 21:09:40

PRINTMISS, I definitely prefer to go by myself when I'm food shopping! Costs a fortune otherwise! You must live away from the east coast if you've had lovely weather!? It's been misty here all day (Fife).
Super glad to hear you've been able to get things nicely organised for your forthcoming 'pampering' session (!!!) You'll sail through it all, without a doubt! grin My friend at Muasdale smugly informed me that you've had glorious sunshine on your side of the country today.....confused!

harrigran Sat 24-Mar-12 23:05:23

Lovely day in Northumberland 18 degrees so had lunch with sister and BIL, they are good fun.

grannyactivist Sun 25-Mar-12 00:14:25

Today I've been making my way home after a lovely week away with The Wonderful Man. We spent a couple of nights in York, two nights in a wonderful hotel in Cumbria, (courtesy of a Gransnet competition - I'll write a review tomorrow) then one night in Cheshire so I could visit my mum and a coffee stop in Birmingham today to meet up with eldest son. I didn't take the laptop so that I could give TWM my full attention, but I've been wondering what you all got up to whilst I was away.
Must go to bed now, but will continue catching up tomorrow and Monday. sunshine

glammanana Sun 25-Mar-12 07:41:54

GA sounds like you had a fab week with your WM.

jeni Sun 25-Mar-12 07:52:40

Morning all. I'm up at this ridiculous hour as its a thanksgiving for my DGD today and the service starts at 9.30!
Have a lovely day everyone! sunshine

PRINTMISS Sun 25-Mar-12 08:05:59

morning everyone, it's going to be another scorcher by the look of it, south coast, and we are just on the edge of the South Downs. I am keeping a look out for the two ducks which seem to find our small estate quite attractive at this time of year. We have no water, but they just waddle up and down the road as if they own the place people feeding them is an added attraction, for them no doubt.

Gally Sun 25-Mar-12 08:25:27

Ever hopeful that the haar (mist) which has enshrouded Fife and the East coast of Scotland will lift and give us a view of the sun! While all you southerners were sunbathing yesterday, I had my heating full on and didn't venture outside all day sunshinesunshine

jeni Sun 25-Mar-12 08:42:02

Well it's lovely down here!smile

glassortwo Sun 25-Mar-12 10:08:03
