My DiL used to put sunscreen on her white cat's ears because they are particularly prone to skin cancer. Have seen white cat with ears amputated.

My (now deceased) cat was black with a pink nose, where he developed skin cancer. His nose was saved by a wonderful locum vet who happened to come from Australia where she had gained a lot of experience in treating skin cancer. She treated his nose with liquid nitrogen and it worked. My own vet, when he returned, said he had never seen liquid nitrogen used before and he would have recommended removing most of Max's nose (ouch). I still never managed to get Max or his brother to accept sunscreen though!

My DD had a white cat that always wore sunscreen on her ears.
Mamie your meal sounds wonderful smile

Good morning everyone, beautiful morning again, but oh! we do so need some rain, preferably overnight. Had a lovely day yesterday. Played short mat which is indoors, in the afternoon, so not so good to be shut in, but the company is always enjoyable. We got thrashed, but so what! Enjoy the rest of the day everyone.
OH! by the way, the ducks came to visit yesterday at lunch time. So far she has not left an egg, which is what she usually does. Perhaps she is waiting for easter?

Another sunny morning in Cheshire. I lay in bed and watched a squirrel invading the magpies' nest. The birds were doing their best to chase it off but it was very persistent. I didn't have my binoculars upstairs, so couldn't see if it had got away with an egg. Watching breakfast TV on BBC. If you missed seeing Jodi Picoult teaching the presenters to howl like a wolf pack, catch it on i-player. It's one of the funniest things I've seen for a while.

Daisy the cat now has sunscreen on her ears....(and husband has scratches on his arms....grin)
PRINTMISS, how lovely to have ducks visiting! And to leave you an egg - bless her!! Enjoy your sunshine sunshine smile

We managed to get a very fierce rescue cat to keep still whilst we administered an injection at the back of her neck by wrapping her tightly in a large towel. She was very clever at hiding from us - my daughter had a bed which was 7' wide and the cat would lie under it, right in the middle so we couldn't reach her.

I love 'Simon's Cat' on Youtube - it is amazing how much the artist can convey with a few strokes .

Fabulous day in the north east again, we are being spoilt sunshine

syberia Mon 26-Mar-12 11:35:06

Glorious here in the East Midlands too, enjoying looking at the plants I put in yesterday and trying to imagine the effect in a couple of years when they have grown! smile

glassortwo Mon 26-Mar-12 11:47:06

A sunny hello to all from Kintyre sunshine...the sea is palest torquoise and rippleless. The ferry looks almost phantom-like as it glides past Jura. We've had a lovely stroll through the lanes, deep breathing in the fresh, spring air.

Googled Jonathan [Saturday night's Britains Got Talent] and was moved to tears by the young man's marvellous voice. A truly uplifting performance.smile smile smile

Am about to begin attempt number nine of a lovely boy's portrait. To date, I cannot do him justice. Hey ho...a clean start and out with the water colours. grin

Mamie Mon 26-Mar-12 14:27:46

Planting potatoes. Five beds planted with four different varieties, 10 barrow loads of compost moved - my back aches!

Gally Mon 26-Mar-12 14:36:00

Glorious day here in Fife. Our little beach is heaving with Mums and toddlers - and a few grannies too. Have managed to erect my new whirly washing line and christened it with some lovely white washing which is floating around gently in the sun.
Why do flies prefer to be on the inside of your patio doors rather than on the outside? confused

Annobel Mon 26-Mar-12 14:45:30

Gally it does you good, doesn't it! I have the sunshine, but would love to have the beach as well.

Libradi Mon 26-Mar-12 15:33:20

Beautiful day here in Devon too, great day for doing the washing!

harrigran Mon 26-Mar-12 16:46:28

First washing day this year where I have had everything on the line and dry in no time at all.

JessM Mon 26-Mar-12 18:45:16

Glad to hear you sounding a bit more cheerful Gally
I'm off to NSW at the end of the week. Have you got a plan to go out? How is your daughter getting on?

Gally Mon 26-Mar-12 20:26:10

Jess going out mid july for two months. Baby due 19th July. All seems ok but will have to wait and see. Have a wonderful time - at least you will get the end of their summer - I am going equipped ready for another winter!

greenmossgiel Mon 26-Mar-12 20:32:21

Was in the garden most of the day, then went to see Marigold Hotel. I loved it. I think I'll get hold of the book now - has anyone read it?

jeni Mon 26-Mar-12 21:24:48

grannyactivist Mon 26-Mar-12 22:32:15

I've been working all day, so still haven't caught up with everything I missed when I was away. It was a beautiful day and I sneaked in a quick visit to my Chinese granddaughter who will be one on Wednesday. She's at that lovely stage of just beginning to take her first steps and is very smiley and happy. It seems no time at all since I watched her being born; a real privilege and a wonderful memory. smile

jeni Tue 27-Mar-12 07:11:39

Morning Baggy looks as though we are the only ones up! I'm going to Swansea in 20mins! Catch up later! sunshine

nanachrissy Tue 27-Mar-12 08:24:50

Having quite a stressful time at the moment with my poor little dad, but the sunshine has helped a lot. Today my mf is taking me out for lunch to cheer me up! Does that make me a comfort eater? confused grin

Carol Tue 27-Mar-12 08:30:10

Hope you have an enjoyable time nanachrissy. No, don't think you can take on that mantle - comfort eating, yes, if your lunch comprises lots of stodge, sweet stuff and far too much of everything. I find I can eat sensibly all day, then when I'm tired in the evening I get the urge to snack on carbs. If I've been out for a nice lunch with my best friend, I get all the comfort I need and find I don't start looking for snacks later on.

Annobel Tue 27-Mar-12 09:14:42

Enjoy your lunch, nanachrissy. You deserve to have 'time out' for yourself. And remember you can always come here and unload on us. sunshine
