We had a good time, thanks, glamma. Perignan was great - we had a superb apartment (overlooking a market) where I'd be very happy to live, apart from the two long flights of stairs. Buses are only 1Euro to anywhere in the region and there are free minibuses around the city, though it was a bit disconcerting when, one morning we were going to the bus station, the driver of the 'p'tit bus' stopped and announced that he was going to 'faire pipi'. We waited for 10 minutes till he came back with a carton of coffee. Anyway we got our bus with seconds to spare. Weather was a bit mixed, but we did get around and visit some delightful places. Paris was a bit of a washout, literally. However, we did get to the Musée d'Orsay to see the Impressionists and visited Fontainebleau in a deluge! Back to rain here, so no change! You OK glamma?

Annobel How come all the continental Countries only charge 1 euro for buses,it was the same when we lived in Spain ? so glad I have my bus pass now because with the price of petrol for my car I would be walking everywhere.Glad to hear you enjoyed the Galleries, when ever I have been to Paris the weather has always been bleak,we are both fine thanks for asking will talk soon smile

One thing that Spain has over France is the concessionary rates for EU pensioners. The reduction for the Alhambra, when we 'did' Andalucia, was excellent and the Alcazar at Seville was free. Asked hopefully in France, but no such luck, except for a nice gentleman in the Perpignan station ticket office who offered a discount without being asked!

Oldgreymare Wed 25-Apr-12 23:53:33

Annobel I discovered the 1 euro bus tickets in Nice a couple of years ago. What a bonus, lots of lovely places to visit, my favourute being Villa Ephresi Rothschild (sp?) at Cap Ferat. The gardens were fantastic.

Annobel - the Musée d'Orsay is my very favourite gallery. Lucky you. envy

OGM, even the weather has not put me off the South of France! It should be such a lovely time of year, so living in hope, I will go back again in the spring and explore yet more of that lovely part of the world.

Good morning all, I feel in a sunshine mood today, no idea why as we have had enough rain since yesterday to fill Kielder Reservoir and no sign of it letting up. smile sunshine

glassortwo Thu 26-Apr-12 07:54:14

Of course that could all change after the school run, when I will resemble a drowned rat grin

jeni Thu 26-Apr-12 08:36:00

From me too, grannyactivist. The very best of wishes for a good outcome today. (We could do with a little horseshoe for times like this, perhaps?) sunshine

soop Thu 26-Apr-12 10:40:23

kittylester Still no response. But thanks to you lot wink I'm less downcast, so that's a plus. GP called and measured area of new inflamation. Coming back after lunch. Mindful of possible infection setting in. Wouldn't want to slip back after such a promising start. smile
