jeni Mon 19-Mar-12 21:03:21

No idea! I'm meeting maniac on Wednesday but otherwise nothing. Apart from hosting a party on Sunday for a thanksgiving for dgd's safe arrival and her blessing! Don't ask! Dd's oh, does not want a baptism! This is a compromise!
So I have a party at my house for 25-30 people. Most of whom I don't know! Numerous children!
HELP!

Just got a large lamb stew in the oven to cook on low all day. DH has embarked on Mark Sisson's Primal Blueprint diet and approach to life (info here) because he needs to lose some weight and get fitter. The only way it affects me is that I don't cook starchy food like rice or pasta to go with the evening meal. I've found I'm more comfortable without it at that time, though I still have a thick slab of homemade bread and marmalade for breakfast and my doorstep butties for lunch when I feel like it. Has anyone else come across the primal blueprint and found it any good on the dieting front?

One advantage I have noticed: DH seems more willing to help out with heavy stuff in the garden that would do my back in, because that's him getting some 'primal' exercise (substitute for running after buffalo) wink.

Annobel Tue 20-Mar-12 11:47:43

Given in and found a gardener, recommended by a friend. He is going to do a big clear-up, much needed, and then regular maintenance. I can then concentrate on the pots and the herb bed which are not so taxing on my shoulders. However, today I butchered a buddleia and enjoyed it. I do love pruning - what does that say about me? Answers on the back of a postage stamp.

Annobel just arranged for our occasional gardener to come next week. She come for 3/4 days a year just to put the garden to bed and to wake it up again. She brings her dog, a lurcher sort of thing, called Jake who wanders into the house, goes into our son's room and sits at his feet until it's time to go. I do the pots, the herbs and two alpine beds plus any on-going stuff until she comes again in the autumn. We only have a small garden and I really love pottering around now the pressure is off. I've just scrubbed the bench too, so I'm ready for sunshine flowers wine wine

At the moment I'm sitting with my legs tightly crossed while the joiner saws away in the bathroom! He's replacing the wood around the bath, and although I didn't have many cups of tea this morning before he came (9am), it's now just after noon and I need to go to the loo!! Husband has just asked me if I'd like a cup of tea confusedshock

Annobel Tue 20-Mar-12 12:19:48

green wink

Bagitha Save some lamb stew for me...my fave. grin As for the Primal Blueprint diet - I shall be interested to know how Mr Bagitha feels about it in a week or so. If it works wonders for him, I shall endeavour to try it when I'm out of hospital. Since the dodgy hip has blighted my life, we've had to stop our daily hill walks. I'm now at least a stone heavier...and I loathe it.

I'm about to do some serious housework. Why? Well we're off to Glasgow on Friday. I shall be having two hours worth of pre-op assessment and casting my beady eye over the venue [and dishy doctor talent] for the GN party wink. I cannot be admitted to hospital until I'm happy to leave the homestead well-scrubbed. Daft, don't you agree? Bah! Humbug!

jeni Tue 20-Mar-12 12:25:11

Oh dear!

Gally Tue 20-Mar-12 17:01:35

Super smile. Hope all goes well on friday. I do just the same as you re: housework. I have all the time in the world, but feel compelled to do it the day before going away - usually to Sydney! At least that way I am exhausted, the house is clean and I get to sleep on the journey! Must be a 'woman' thing. It used to drive John mad (among many other things!).
green hope you managed to get into the bathroom before you had an accident. I have used a bucket in the kitchen before now grin

Annobel Tue 20-Mar-12 17:48:00

Super, go easy on the housework - you make some of us wink feel inferior.
Hope all goes well with the pre-op. 'My' hospital forgot to send for me and panicked on the op admission day when someone noticed this. Rang me at lunch time and my friend had to get me there (hyperventilating and BP sky high!) in double quick time. Thereafter all went smoothly. I'm sure all will be well with you too.

jeni Tue 20-Mar-12 18:09:42

Well I've done it again! Cardiff rang ' we know it's short notice but could you possibly do Swansea next tues?'
I said yes! I'm raving mad. That means I'm working tues we'd thurs next week!
Why do I agree to these things?

JessM Tue 20-Mar-12 18:23:38

Avarice?
smile
I have just learned how to do a hyperlinked table of contents in a document. I am impressed with myself. Not that clever really - just follow the how to guide step at a time. But Phew! It works!

greenmossgiel Tue 20-Mar-12 18:47:10

Gally - yes, thankfully the joiner needed another piece of wood, so he had to go to his workshop. I dived in to the bathroom the minute he left! My other 'arf suggested using the sink, as he said that's what he'd do...! I have this awful vision of me balancing on the kitchen sink, which is in front of the window. I would be in full view of the vicar next door! blushgrin

I received this video in an email from a friend. It's quite long (8 minutes), but I think you will like it.
